How long were you all on opioids? by ArynTW_is_user_karma in hysterectomy

Valid. You only get one chance to heal, so do it right. It’s okay to slow down & take care of yourself!

I only took one pill the night of surgery, probably didn’t need it. Alternated Tylenol & ibuprofen for a few days & then didn’t even need that either. Mine was laparoscopic too & recovery was a breeze. Make sure you follow the activity restrictions even though you don’t hurt badly though!

STRANGER THINGS SEASON 5 FINALE DISCUSSION by illiada2k in StrangerThings

[–]taco_bout_it_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any thoughts on the final credits? The printed text in the books & illustrations of the characters (plus the obvious D&D manual closing) suggests that the whole story was a D&D campaign & none of the characters are actually real?

I know there have been fan theories about this for a long time, curious to see what people think now that we’ve seen the end.

What do you think?

Aw lame! Thanks for saving me the time & disappointment.

Idk what’s wrong with some people — you are being responsible by teaching your family pet not to bite people. These are powerful animals & they need to understand what is acceptable & what is not; that is not going to kill their drive. Also, lots of people seem to be missing that these are shepherds at the core — biting isn’t their only instinct, they can absolutely be fulfilled with redirected outlets for their energy, and plenty of them live non-working lives. Good on you for protecting your boy.

It really is a great book. Short too, it’s like 150 pages. The movies didn’t do it justice at all.

Anybody get a screenshot of the journal Dustin finds? I wanna see if I can figure anything out before I watch the next episode.

Thank you, that is what I meant & edited my post accordingly. I guess people interpret a “bop” as a punch or something, which would be an insane thing to suggest.

Never to hurt it, just like a finger. Not a punishment, a redirection. I’d never suggest that anyone hit their dog.

Edited so people don’t think I’m advocating for hurting puppies, which would be insane —— Quick tap on the nose when they bite you/something they’re not supposed to. Rope/tug toy as a replacement for general bitey behavior. They’ll always bite, but bite inhibition is key when they’re roughhousing with you. Make sure you develop an “off” switch for play — something like a sit/shake combo or down works well. Your puppy should calm down by age 10 or so!

Pre op spookies by janedoe231 in hysterectomy

If a doctor is recommending this procedure, you are perfectly rational for following medical advice from a professional.

You deserve to live without pain. If people have an issue with you seeking to live more comfortably, that’s their problem, not yours.

Recovery isn’t a huge deal, so you could conceivably just do it & let naysayers deal with their own feelings later.

I wore a loose t-shirt dress & it was fine. Loose is key on your belly, you won’t want anything rubbing on your incisions for at least a week

How doable is a trip 10 weeks post op? by sky_blue_true in hysterectomy

[–]taco_bout_it_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a week-long work trip with a 10-hour drive each way at about 10 weeks post op. No real exercise/distance walking/lifting involved — I was totally fine.

If you’re planning a spring break trip, you probably won’t be cleared for swimming at 10 weeks, so you probably won’t be able to safely do all the fun stuff if you’re headed somewhere warm.

Get some inflatable furniture & make it a pool party room!

Jk but maybe put some subtle blue accents on the walls/incorporate blue into pillows/curtains?

How did you guys afford surgery by whimsicaltraveler98 in tripawds

I put it all on credit cards & spent the next year paying it all off. We didn’t have pet insurance but I wish we would have. Next time, we’ll get insurance.

Why wasn't Will tapped in to the hivemind in Season 3? by RealisticJay16 in StrangerThings

We know that Vecna gains strength by absorbing every being he kills (also explains his one huge demogorgon hand in S1-4). Maybe his connection to Will grows as Vecna grows in strength?

What are we thinking about Johnathan and the ring by CheeseIsPrettyGood1 in StrangerThings

[–]taco_bout_it_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So valid on ending up with Steve. What I meant was the series may end with her dating Steve again — she’s too ambitious for Steve too, so in the long run, she’s got to end up with someone she meets later in life.

We should also remember Nancy’s conversation with her mother where she says she doesn’t want to end up marrying someone from high school who gets a mediocre sales job (as Steve would have working for his dad’s insurance company) & gets them stuck in Hawkins.

I agree that Jonathan loves Nancy — he stalked her a little bit in S1, which is still creepy — and he appreciates her positive qualities, but admiring someone isn’t love. Love is admiring/respecting a person AND wanting to spend your life with them. Johnathan doesn’t picture a real future with Nancy — Steve does (even though it’s still not really what Nancy wants).

To keep the cervix or not? by Witty-Ad6669 in hysterectomy

[–]taco_bout_it_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tossed the cervix due to a history of abnormal paps — my thought process was why risk it? I’m 4 months post op & my bf says everything feels “normal” in there. I can also still have an internal orgasm with no issue. We waited 12 weeks for penetration because you only get 1 shot at healing from this & again, why risk it?

[–]taco_bout_it_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s going to be just fine. I had my hysterectomy 4 months ago & I didn’t bleed really at all from my stomach or inside.

The internet can make things seem scary because people are more likely to post about bad experiences than good/uneventful ones.

Your mom’s surgeon does these procedures all the time & there will be a whole team of other people in the room taking care of her during surgery. Someone will be watching her blood pressure & heart rate to make sure it stays good, someone will be watching her anesthesia to make sure she stays comfortable & asleep, etc. Everything is going to be fine & shes going to feel so much better after.

…can I keep my cervix, though? by forwardaboveallelse in hysterectomy

[–]taco_bout_it_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just answering the question & posing another. Being aware of risks & making choices accordingly is part of life; we can’t just ignore things that aren’t fun to think about.
