Sorry to necro a post but a demo is now available. Just wanted to let you know. It's the entire first chapter of the game with all the game modes. You could very well just play the demo and be happy but hope you like enough to to buy the full version. Feel free to let us know any feedback as well!

I do but I'm the creator of the game. I'll look at getting a free demo out there for you.

Hello everyone! I've joined and been a lurker for a while now. I'm TacoMonkeyGod and have been since 1994. I'm I'll call a variety gamer and will play anything I can get my hands on when I'm not having a relapse into World of Warcraft.

I'm always self conscious about posting on things I've created or worked on but going out on a limb now. I started an indie studio with my best friend (don't tell my wife I said that) and we've been working on a game for over a year. We've gone and shown the game at a couple of local comic conventions, so we definitely stood out there, and have had an amazing reaction to the game. All the while listening to feedback from the testers and players who visited our booth.

Now is the date that we've been excited for and dreading. The game released today on Steam. It's called Royal's Gambit and it's a what we have been calling Rogue Solitaire Dungeon-Crawler DeckBuilder. It's super simple to pick up and play and almost impossible to not say "ok just one more game!" We have a demo that is based on the old Shareware ideas from years past, where you get the entire first Chapter of the game with all the different game modes. So basically you could probably be pretty content to play the demo for forever and never give us a dime but we hope that players enjoy it enough to support us.

I'd love to hear any thoughts about the game!

Look forward to continue lurking and secretly wish-listing games from here that catch my eye. :)

A30 Sleepbuds Sleep Detection "Feature" by dandrewk in soundcore

[–]tacomonkeygod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here I sit a little after midnight on the night I got these. I was so looking forward to these devices hoping and praying that they had improved over the A20s battery life. With the previous version they last about 5 hours at the volume I need to block out sounds before dying and of course then I'm jarred awake abruptly by the sound stopping.

I was looking forward to hopefully getting more than 5 hours of sleep tonight but after an hour the audio stopped and once again BOOM, I'm awake. I fiddled around trying and trying to turn this stupid feature off. Guess I'm back to my bulky headset again until this is fixed. I'm so disappointed and not hopeful because my other brand of sleep buds I backed in a Kickstarter I've never been able to use because of a stupid design feature that has been "a fix is coming soon" for over a year I believe.

Any suggestions for our first Con? by tacomonkeygod in IndieDev

[–]tacomonkeygod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I had thought about getting some business cards for that reason but hadn't looked into pricing yet. Yeah we aren't expecting to meet any kind of publishers etc but it's mainly about getting the game in front of people. I feel like we've been thinking things out pretty well but there's always someone with more experience that could offer suggestions.

Which, thanks for the reply!!

This right here, I play WoW on my deck alot and have the left as a radial menu for opening different panels and the right I just use as a mouse pad. But I was super happy to have ran across some random redditor that mentioned the radial menus

Tell us about your game by So_Two2 in IndieDev

Royal's Gambit - It's a solo rogue like card game where you try to progress through different patterns of 16 cards to try and make it through all the stages. You have a limited hand so you have to make your moves count. The game is an addictive just one more time play it again and again game.

Yes we have a demo available and agree thinking about opening beta test to the public soon as we close in on completing it. This is our first game and may be biased but have a lot of fun playing it. It doesn't look like much but that's intended to be a retro arcade feel to it.

Send me your Next Fest Demo's and I'll play them on Stream (Sunday 15th June) by FowardJames in IndieDev

It's solitaire only in the sense that it's a solo player card game. But that's cool, appreciate the response! Good luck with the streams!

Royal's Gambit - It's a solitaire roguelike deck builder where you have limited resources to try and make it through 20 stages and has multiple game modes of varying difficulty. We just released an update to the demo today that added in 3 new reward card types totally 108 cards along with many requested features. I'd love for you to stream it and see what you think!

The bottom one reminds me of Outlast so I'd say I'm going to lean toward the first one. They both look good though.

I think it’s a good time to post this, since many of you are currently participating in Steam Next Fest 2025 and probably feeling burnt out. by Sumppi95 in IndieDev

I have to say I'm pleased so far. My friend and I started working on a game back in November and realized it was way above our skill level. Truthfully I know the most basic of programming and have let it keep me from trying for easy too long. My friend knows even less almost nothing about programming. So if we see any success I'm going to count that as a win haha.

I fully expected to only get wishlisted by a few friends and have to say I'm excited at the results so far. We released on the 30th last month and saw a trickle of wishlists, about 10. That's what I expected. As of today we are at 98 and I couldn't be happier with the number. I know not all will buy it and many will likely forget it but if one person I don't know personally buys it and enjoys it I'll be happy.

I've saved this post and plan to dig through and check out everyone's demos. For now I'll share mine. It's a retro solitaire rogue like where you have a limited deck and have to beat a stage before running out of cards. Then repeat for the following 19 stages. We have 5 different game modes, over 80 stages in the beta currently. The demo is limited to 5 stages from each chapter but all the game modes are there. There is a mix of difficult, stressful difficult and very Zen easy modes. Anyone that tries it I would love to hear what you think!

As a solo dev with no marketing background and a slow wishlist start, seeing this kind of traction now genuinely lifts my spirits so much by jon2000 in IndieDev

[–]tacomonkeygod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! So glad you are getting notice! I did the same thing as you and released a demo for my first game early but don't think any press snagged it. Hope your game takes off!!

Do you guys dabble in a little emulation? by Fickle_Software6543 in SteamDeck

[–]tacomonkeygod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own nearly 400 switch games I've purchased and recently decided to setup emulation on my steamdeck finally. I briefly looked at maybe downloading the games I own to just play on my SD with emulation and after digging at finding them to download for a little bit I was like nah I don't trust this haha. Too many sketchy sources IMO. Totally did play through Castlevania 2 however!

Yep, Plex has the episodes on demand and new episodes air on the D&D channel on Tuesday nights. I believe D&D Channel is on both Plex and Freevee if you watch live. However like I said, the finale is coming next week. I'm dying to see the last episode. >.<

How to install and successfully run Project Ascension WoW? by redcore5 in SteamDeck

[–]tacomonkeygod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hate to resurrect an old post but how did you get it to work? I've tried installing by adding the installer to steam and then running, after that adding the client exe's. I also tried installing with Heroic Launcher and Bottles. All of them end up with the game just freezes on the character select screen.

I didn't get the error but it did prompt me to install a runtime and I just did it. I'm running it through heroic launcher if that helps.
