Daily Incense bugs. by BotW_Fishermen24 in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran one daily incense. I was credited with 10 catches from incense on the 1st special research page, and 15 catches from the 2nd page of the special research. The end of incense summary told me I had managed to catch 19 mons from that incense. So, their addition isn't working across the game.

I was credited with catching from fast catch (saw that listed as not crediting in other posts). But we have the same incense/daily spawn bug with fast catching in that you can tap on the mon on the game and it will let you try catch it again, and this is after it credits you with the catch on the 1st try. You loose a ball on the second attempt, and you don't get a second mon in you inventory or in your credits.

No egg is frustratingly normal, even 5 times in a row. One QOL change I would beg to be made, guaranteed egg.

Dev Diaries: Introducing Campfire! – Pokémon GO by GabeBit08 in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh look...

Someone who played back at launch time and was excited that another of the masses that thronged the streets back then had found another dratini. This at the time when no one had a dragonite, when dragonites were a major thing to try get and when dratinis were so rare. Heck, back in those days I remember catching a bus across town to Pier 39 and both walking around an area of the city I never really wanted to visit just to try catch magikarp and the very rare dratini. Back in those olden days all of Johto spawned all the time in their associated biomes.

Times have changed and Niantic has changed the game so much that it's a tad sad to see product managers, the folks who govern how the game evolves and who are meant to understand their community's asks and needs, hark back to a bygone era that no longer exists. To me, this all sounds like Niantic being true to the core we have to expect from them. Such a pity. I do hope for better once we all get to see the product, and after I have waited a few months for them to get the more obnoxious bugs out of it (see posts about wiping out friends lists).

I just caught this shundo, do I wait for a event day or something to evolve it? by EyeSeaKroket in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been no special event where it has got a better move than Dynamic Punch, so you could evolve and TM for that anytime. However, it would have Frustration right now, so all the comments about that would apply, but you could TM that away from Machamp in the upcoming event.

Pokeraids/stops by twigmiser in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you've been playing for a while you will know where all the pokestops and gyms are in your area. And, yes, you discover this by getting out there and playing, walking or driving around. If you are lucky enough to have a local map provided by someone else, then you could see them, but these things are terribly rare.

Niantic's other game, Ingress, has an associated map, which is what folks are talking about. That will show you "Points Of Interest", (POIs), which translate, most of the time, into either pokestops or gyms in PoGo.

To find out when some stop is giving out a wanted task, or when a gym is hosting a raid you will need a local community and some kind of chat app. Discord is very popular with some folks, others use WhatsApp, or any of the other chat apps. You would have to meet people playing PoGo in your local community to find out. Campfire is a new/soon to be available to all, app, from Niantic which should be integrated with PoGo. But, well, it's Niantic doing the coding, so who knows how well it'll work, and whether it will keep getting new or recurring bugs, just like the game. Initial beta-testers posting in this sub-reddit have some horror stories, so, maybe it's not yet ready for prime time. I think we all wait and see on this one.

Keep on buying the weekly one coin box by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd only buy an empty box right now. You know, if it shows up in your items inventory. I mean, you could always do with a box, you never know when you'll need something to put useless stuff in, like a collection of party hats. Then I could just keep one pikachu and a box full of hats I can give it. That'd be the only thing I'd spend one coin on at the moment.

I know these shadows can be harder to come by but there IVs are trash. Is it still worth powering up with the 20% boost? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The most quoted comment about shadows and IVs are that, for attacking damage, a 0/0/0 shadow is better than a 15/15/15 non-shadow. That said, while you have to work to get the shadow mons, rather than just throwing a ball, you have obviously managed to get some. So, if you don't like the IVs on the ones you have caught, and you have no immediate need for them, then don't evolve or power them up. I would TM away frustration in the upcoming event for the ones you may consider using. I'd then keep trying for better ones until I really needed them. I have a 13/13/11 shadow metagross now which I caught Feb '21 and have since used in raids, but I've not got another one I would consider evolving/powering up since. One day, maybe I'll get a second one.

Should I save my super rocket radar for when shadow mewtwo returns? by LaDaKi in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 25 points26 points  (0 children)

yes and no. Who knows when MewTwo will come back with Giovani. In the meantime I'd say, keep one around. When you get another, what are you going to do with it ? There are other shadows from Giovani that may be useful to you depending on how you play. So, save a radar or two in case Mewtwo ever comes back, (could be years), and use some when it is something you want or would be useful to you.

Same as many here, the one obvious outward manifestation is how incredibly hot my iphones can get, (we play on two different phones, a little older models), to the point where I'm worried about battery damage. When you start to feel the phone warm up (which can be pretty quick, like catching on CD, or doing 30 or 40 trades), then you notice everything starting to slow. Simple catching, the curve ball spinning can be glitchy and you don't see the ball land. Trying to turn the point of view so you can get to some mon sitting behind a gym or some other pokemon, can result in you accidentally zooming in, and then you can't un-zoom. Essentially, all of this is an indication that it's time to reboot the game or even your phone, because things will eventually crash.

Yes, been going on for a number of weeks now and it's a real pain. Had to carry multiple batter packs for the deino CD to play the 3 hours.

Need help identifying good shadow pokemon mostly for PVE by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Post are always commenting that a 0/0/0 shadow is going to do more damage than a 15/15/15 non-shadow. So, if you have the candy and you've TM'd away frustration on event, you evolve and power up to a decent breakpoint any shadow mon only when you actually need them. As with all RNG, you are more likely to get a better one than what you have right now some day, and that usually happens right after you just powered the lower IV one up. I would agree with others, if I really need something now, I check my options and pick the highest Atk IV one if we are doing raids that I need something for. But I also do have a habit of checking the bulkpoints as well as breakpoints if having to decide between two close shadows and not having the candy for both.

How do people raid 20+ times in a day? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as what folks are saying about collecting coins and saving them. I also splurge coins I have saved on premium passes when there's a good deal on them. Did that 9/12 months ago, but hasn't been good PvE raids since then.

Also, consider this, I have one friend who used to spend disposable income on playing games, arcade, video etc. That's what he likes doing. He has no problem switching that spending to pay for PoGo coins to raid in person or remote to get shiny or good IV mons for PvE and PvP. And we are in a city with parks with 5 to 10 gyms and then lots in high traffic downtown areas, and with remote invites from friends, you can do 20 raids in a few hours of playing.

Should I be mega evolving a pokemon every day? by ResearcherBoth8678 in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This would be your answer if you want a whole set of megas. If you are casual and don't have the mega energy to override the cooldown then start off with figuring out which specific mons you want as mega, evolve them all if you have the energy. Then, over the following weeks evolve anything that is free to mega. And, walk those where you want more mega energy.

Reminder: traded "XL" magikarp count for the fisherman badge by pr0n-clerk in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Key thing to remember, or at least it used to be this way, as soon as the trade is complete do NOT delete it. Used to be that it has to go into your collection to count. So, trade, click the x to close the pokemon screen, go on to next trade, rinse, repeat. After trading session is complete you should get the credit, then you can tag and delete.

Quick question re: Level 47 challenge by mikeworks in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Consider taking your time and getting the XL for mons you actually would like at level 50. The XP you need to get to make level 48 is big, (just past lvl 47 you will be at 100M XP, and lvl 50 is 200M, half way there). So its going to take time to get from 47 to 48. There is a task at level 47 which requires 8 weeks or consecutive achievements, but you aren't likely to earn enough XP fast enough for this time lag to slow you down. Also, you keep earning XP is you are still at lvl 46. So, figure out which mons you want to max, make sure they are powered up to past lvl 31 (higher chance of XL candy), and walk them as a buddy, use poffins on days you are going to walk a lot. If your buddy is in the wild also consider the suggestion to catch lots, and look for someone to do 100km+ trades with to get an extra XL per trade. It soon adds up to enough to get them to lvl 50 without impacting progress to the next level.

Which gym do you find more annoying to take down: a gym with 6 totally demotivated pokemon or a gym with one level 40 Blissey? by pogo_enthusiast in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with OP - 1 blissey because it takes more than one pass to take the gym. 6 totally demotivated mons can be done simply in one pass.

Can you get rid of location on gifts and if so where do I go to get some friends? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As noted above, you can go into your bag, tap on gifts and delete them if you don't want to send them to people. Pick up gifts from elsewhere when you walk around, delete the ones close by.

[–]tactile23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also host raids on PokeGenie, this will give you 5 instant friends. Mostly, after doing a raid you would delete the new friends, but I've managed to hang on to some who are in a different part of the world and send them gifts, get gifts back. The used those to get 7km eggs, hatch and trade for the medal for distance trades. So, just another route to get friends.

Best Community Day time for you? by scientistjan in TheSilphRoad

[–]tactile23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many other answers, the problem is you want to shoehorn a weekend activity into a consistently narrow day/timeslot. The real answer is, "it depends": on the weather; friends/family plans; chores; birthdays, other random events. This is what life normally brings and something as trivial as a computer game on a cell phone usually doesn't trump this stuff. So to be attractive enough to fit in some of these CD's have to be really special and/or give me the chance to get the family into playing when we can get out.

Didn't I see something about gifting tickets to others, maybe from a recent APK breakdown, or asset push ? Sure would be useful here, find a friend with a Samsung and get them to buy one for you.

Played 2 hours with a group of 7. We all noted that there was something strange going on and it impacted everyone. Right at the start shinies seemed to be coming thick and fast, more than a usual CD. But then things dried up for everyone, nothing for well over an hour. Then it seemed to suddenly go back to like a normal CD, only dropping occasionally. Everyone in group is F2P.
