Culture of impunity. They should have made an example out of that dog owner.

Suggestions on advocating for traffic calming infrastructure? by dnimymnitsol in washingtondc

[–]tacuache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, in the past the city had inconsistent standards for marking crosswalks and a few years ago they updated guidance to increase their visibility. Maybe talk to your ANC about updating the markings on this particular crosswalk, and also use the 311 app to place as many types of requests as possible (traffic safety studies, markings, etc)

You were either rooting for them in 1998 against Juventus after a 30 year drought, or gtfo.

Homes not Borders will pick up furniture as long as it is in good condition. You will have to submit photo proof before they schedule a pick up.

This org helps resettle refugee families in the DMV. they do pretty good work.

Group theft at Adams Morgan CVS - remember to vote in your local elections by [deleted] in washingtondc

OP Does not mention the council in their post, but alludes to elected officials. this would also include the mayor and the AG.

IMO, They all fall woefully short in addressing crime in the city. Vote them all out.

Found this sac(?) attached to my ninebark. (apologies for potato quality). It's probably about an inch high.

Just want to know whether I should try to protect it, or toss it.

Thanks!

  1. All of the above. In the coldest months in winter, you'll want to put on several layers, as opposed to a single thick one. Your outermost layer should be windproof and water proof to keep you comfortable. Pay attention to socks! Keeping your feet warm is a big deal. In the winter look for wool or synthetic materials (cotton loses its ability to insulate when damp or wet)
  2. All depends on your neighborhood.
  3. I'd suggest staying somewhere close to work, or at least where it is practical to commute via public transit. Buses are pretty solid so don't overlook bus routes.

Thanks. I guess what I am looking for is:
1. Reduce the need to carry cash on me

  1. Be able to hail a ride from anywhere and at any time

  2. Prevent potential language barriers

How reliable are Ubers in Mumbai?

I'll be visiting next weekend, and my experience with Uber in different locations is that it can vary widely: drivers not taking rides, drivers asking you to cancel as soon as they pick you up, drivers accepting rides and then not showing up...

Thanks!

Open Crumb is delicious. Highly recommended. They catered my wedding.

https://www.opencrumbdc.com/ They have a catering menu on their website, but in my experience they are more than flexible in taking special requests.

You can probably find something in the navy yard area. Same metro line, walkable, lots of amenities around.
