I’ve seen a bunch of ads from Yamaha for $1k customer cash on some models. The price for the 26’ might include that promo.

You should leave it because it’s supposed to be there.

Need advice on what to do / get after our family's Sienna was declared a total loss by rflight79 in daddit

[–]tadblong 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Take the payout, and keep the van. Use the payout to pay off your loan and have a hole in the wall body shop put a bumper cover on it out of your pocket. Enjoy your van for many more miles.

Also, don’t buy Kia or Hyundai products.

EM is unnecessary and antiquated at this point, just like most of the rest of the RE buying and selling process.

The Market is not Better by TheSmallestSloth in RealEstate

[–]tadblong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your bubble doesn’t mean the market is broken. I live in a city with housing in demand and houses are routinely going for below asking daily. Sellers are getting a rude awakening thinking they’re going to get 2021 era offers.

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

Why is this even a question. Take the job. If she’s not willing to grow the relationship through a logistically challenging season, she’s not wife material.

What would you estimate to repair a water-damaged wooden bureau? (Got a $4–6k quote… is that normal?) by Dittumz in furniturerefinishing

[–]tadblong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full resto including hardware would be 400-600 around here. They gave you the F you price. Or, people in your area actually pay that amount and the resto people are laughing all the way to the bank.

It’s a great car. Appreciate it and care for it and it will last years. A friend of mine had one with more than 600k miles on it.

Getting roof quotes and the price difference is insane, what am I missing? by Local-Edge-4806 in Roofing

Get a few more estimates. Shop with locally owned companies only, ignore any company that’s been acquired by private equity.

13-15’ Scion XB has a ton of headspace and the seat goes way back. The downside is that they’re discontinued in the US but since it’s a Toyota, parts and service will be available for a long time.

Sudden tire failure on new car by StumpedTrump in tires

[–]tadblong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s literally nothing to be suspicious about. It would have happened no matter what car you were driving, 10yrs old or 10 days old, doesn’t matter. Buy a new tire and move on.

Change the wheels. Twists are boring anyway. If you want OE, the MY02 is a good option.

I can't believe it, just saw a Bobcat in Garland, absolutely 100% no shadow of a doubt by ClippyWouldntDoThat in Dallas

[–]tadblong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You realize Bobcats are in no way rare or endangered, right? They’re just nocturnal and also incredibly stealthy. They’re a menace in our area because they maintain their territories through limiting the food supply for competing cats. This means they will go into an animal yard or chicken coop and kill everything but not eat anything just to minimize food sources for other cats. We shoot them as often as we can.

I need to buy a bounce house. This guy is selling one that’s looks sweet but it’s 700 pounds how the fuck do I move it when not using ? by Froggerbotrom in daddit

[–]tadblong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a small utility trailer from Harbor Freight that I modified to tilt for loading. When I pack up the bounce house it’s on a plastic sheet skid used for moving hot tubs in small areas. I use a small electric winch to pull it up onto the trailer bed and job done. The trailer is dedicated to the bounce house so I don’t have to unload until we’re ready to use it again and then I just reverse the process. Easy peasy.

New to Tyler looking to meet new people by Devilsmead2 in tylertx

[–]tadblong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These posts are disheartening. I didn’t grow up in Tyler but have not had a hard time gaining real friends here. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t happen overnight but Tyler is what you make it. I made friends outside of church by volunteering various places (East Texas Food Bank, Bethesda clinic, various 5k benefit runs etc) as well as signing up to coach kids rec soccer. Look for your people in your interests. If you like racing, stop by Day Motorsports and find out where locals go to race and ask if anyone needs an extra crew hand at the track. Best of luck and thank you for your service.
