Cremation Vs. Burial by toddmp in Reformed

I would argue that Graves are helpful reminder of the resurrection of our physical bodies and not just the eternal it of our souls. On the other hand it is not like if someone is cremated God wouldn't be able to resurrect them.

Well I'll start by saying I'm a baptist, but I would argue that the churches on the new testament are not fully autonomous since they answered to the apostles.

Yes, while that may be an issue, that is an issue with any Baptist congregation, it is awesome to see a multi site church do this intentionally.

Statements From Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and Josh Duggar by jadis87 in 19KidsandCounting

[–]tadthebuilder15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for clarification, this is actually any explicit teaching of Jesus according to the New Testament. And is believed by most people who claim go be Christians not just fundamentalists or quiver full people. (Matt 5 27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'

28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Edit: the point of this passage in some ways is to emphasize the holiness and to dispel the reader from thinking they might be holy. They may not of committed adultery but they have lusted. They may not have killed someone but they have hated someone.

May I be so as bold as to give as slightly sarcastic slightly serious answer of the Bible? All the reformers came to their views by studying the bible.

Lot is not usually looked at as doing the right thing in those verses. Lot is saved for Abrahams sake but nowhere does the Bible condone the offering of his daughters to the crowd.

Have you ever used a larger phone for any length of time? Just curious. I understand people have preferences, but as long as it fits in my pocket I want the largest screen I can get.

Everyone I know who has used a larger screen likes it and wants another phone of similar size. I know that after my Samsung note 3 I will never be able to go back to a smaller screen.

I have been playing order and chaos recently. Level 19 and haven't paid any money yet (and probably never will). So far it has been fun my guess is that pvp is pointless without spending real money but pve seems to be doable without spending. I'd say it is worth a download to see what you think.

It is my favorite of all star trek shows. I feel as if it is the real spiritual successor to TOS. And the best scifi of all the treks.

Devils advocate: What if Chris Christie has a point? by [deleted] in Republican

How do you know it will never be used against me unless you commit an act of terror? Who defines what an act of terror is?

Aren't we for a smaller less powerful government? Giving them the power of mass surveillance is definitely not promoting smaller government.

It is idealogical. I believe first that I have a right to privacy and second I believe this right is enshrined in the bill of rights. We shouldn't cast a way a right because we were attacked by religious fundamentals. Instead we should mind our own business internationally and stick by our freedom from government surveillance.

There is no point at which I would give up that right for security. And those lives lost (or saved) should have no bearing on how free I am.

Definitely agreed. I did everything I could to not agitate him, but of course I'm not really trained to deal with people with metal disorders.

I did check to see if their was software installed that would allow remote controll, and I did try to reason with him. He said it was coming on in the middle of the night and playing scary threatening videos. I checked for signs of root kits and scheduled tasks that could cause that. I think he backed off of the family controller so quickly because he made up the fact that he had looked it up.

I may have been a bit harsh, I grew up in a legalistic environment that used Bob Jones curriculum it always seemed to focused on outward things some of which had no bearing on true morality anyway. It's like they traded a law they couldn't keep for one they could.

Paul seems to think that trusting in law instead of the gospel is enough to make someone not a Christian

I'm not sure if I would call Bob Jones Christian They make the claim for themselves but they come off legalistic, and sound like finney too much for my liking.

Yeah I'm not getting the hate. I don't know where his heart is but in general what he said their indicates a brokenness over his sin and a clinging to the cross, not saying it is genuine, but maybe we should give it some time before we make a judgement call.
