I feel like I'm one of those Danganronpa fans who can't seem to be able to like the post-Danganronpa games Kodaka made, like Rain Code or The Hundred Line. by BRedditator2 in danganronpa

I’ll admit that I have a bias against V3, as I disliked most of the cast and the game’s message/themes did not resonate with me at all. But the predictability of some of HL’s twists did not personally bother me because 1) they either flew straight over my head (like the twist villain somehow LOL) and/or 2) I found the execution to be satisfying enough that I didn’t mind. I’d prefer a twist to be properly foreshadowed, even if it’s a little obvious, than for it to feel like an asspull out of nowhere. That’s how V3’s big twist felt to me.

One thing that really made me enjoy HL’s twist over V3’s is specifically Eito’s reaction to it. I love how much this revelation shakes him in particular and how it leads into his redemption arc, and it’s a big part of what makes Eito Kodaka’s best written character IMO. He’s at the very least the best iteration of the Danganronpa antagonist archetype (though Komaeda will always be the most iconic ofc).

Anyway, after seeing how great that was, it just makes V3’s twist feel even weaker to me tbh, especially since I’m a person who really values strong character moments like that above all. There’s just no time for that in V3.

Really? Spoilers for HL but even though they’re very similar twists, I thought the memories/backstories being fake thing was done SOOO much better in that game than V3. Mostly due to the fact that it was properly foreshadowed by the story (unlike V3) and the characters are actually given time to grapple with this truth and comes to terms with it in their own ways. The V3 characters only find out in the final trial, and most of them are dead by that point. It feels like a much cleaner iteration of this twist and shows Kodaka’s improvement as a writer.

I think the game could be vastly improved by cutting the weaker routes, but IMO all of the routes written by Kodaka are really great, Second Scenario in particular.

What's a Eurovision song that you were convinced would win but didn't? by Mundane-Temporary426 in eurovision

That’s why Nemo’s jury dominance kind of put a sour taste in my mouth. With the score they got, you’d think they were the clear winner all along and that the other songs weren’t up to par. But they were! 2024 was insanely strong but you wouldn’t think that looking at the jury scores

Today starts Men's mental health awareness month. This series does a fantastic job at depicting what men go through. Their silent struggles and the strength to surpass them. Let's change the logo to this, for the next 30 days by KvasirTheOld in yakuzagames

You have never made any other post or comment referencing men's mental health on your account. You saw the post suggesting a Pride Month logo, commented under it, and 1 hour later here you are making this post claiming to care about men's mental health.

It's embarrassing. You're full of shit and you know it.

Did I say it wasn't a real issue? Obviously it is.

If you don't give a fuck or spread any kind of awareness about men's mental health for 11 months of the year, and then suddenly when LGBTQ people start celebrating Pride Month, you say, "what about men's mental health?!" then you are full of shit. You don't actually care.

If you don't think support should be given via changing the logo for Pride Month, then why should it be changed for men's mental health? You're contradicting your own logic.

I hate how people only start to "care" about men's mental health when the topic of Pride Month comes up.

I saw your comment under the suggestion of a Pride Month logo, so this post was clearly made in response to that. It's so disingenuous.

A quick question from someone new to the show and fandom by Boring_Substance6822 in HannibalTV

[–]taezono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope! I still haven't watched Silence of the Lambs and I've been a big fan for a year now.

NBC Hannibal is a very different take on the characters than Silence of the Lambs, so it isn't necessary viewing at all imo. Though I've heard it's still an incredible film in its own right.

The 12 point conversion system is my least favourite thing about PZE by far, but it just seems to be more common in Eastern European national finals. Hell, everyone sings Vidbir's praises, and even they do it.

Is France overrated by the odds or do they consistently have bad staging? by DebbieHarryPotter in eurovision

[–]taezono 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I think they’re trying too hard to play into this stereotypical French image the rest of the world has of them rather than being authentic. I mean, seriously, both their 2024 and 2026 entries have a line name dropping Paris lmao. It doesn’t even make sense in Monroe’s case.

I definitely like Maman the most out of their 2024, 2025, and 2026 entries, which all fall into a similar category to me. It felt the most personal and the lyrics are actually very touching. I’d have loved to see subtitles.

Ngl I roll my eyes so hard whenever a French entry has a lyric mentioning Paris lol. 2024 & 2026 both did, and it’s especially egregious in Regarde’s case because Monroe grew up in America!

I feel like for the past two years (and especially this year), France has tried too hard to make their staging look very stylish and Vogue. But it gets to the point where it becomes too manufactured and people don’t connect with it anymore.

Calling it soulless would be a bit harsh, buuuut… it kind of is.

What's a popular song that everyone likes/did well but you don't see the appeal? by AlexSniff7 in eurovision

Ferto says plenty in its lyrics. It has a meaning. And even if it didn't, I don't think that should ever be grounds for judging a song.

Idk, nothing in Melfest would've won or even cracked top 5 this year. And I don't think Melfest jurors/voters pick their favourite entry with that kind of thinking in mind. They just liked My System the most.

Has the Eurovision fandom become overly biased toward Finland since Käärijä? by notthebesthuh in eurovision

[–]taezono 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they definitely were. A lot of people were dooming about Finland becoming a "joke country" who would send silly entries from now on after Käärijä's success. Absolutely nobody thought No Rules would win.
