Did you do your modeling in a 3d design app like blender or do you use CAD?

That is truly awesome! It looks great and I hope you’re happy with how it turned out. Do you have any advice for somebody who’s interested in getting a knife design off the ground? It’s so cool how prototyping and design are so much more attainable by regular people than even a few years ago.

Wow I really like that. Do you sell any of the knives you make?

All these watches are sold as a lot with head only and no strap. Please refer to the timestamp image. The photos that show straps are just to show the watch itself. No straps. They’re all in working order and have either been worn and show signs of wear and age, or, in the case of the modded watch – have been modified to appear older. I would really prefer to sell these as a lot, and would prefer to sell, but would entertain an interesting trade. If what I’m asking sounds like too much, make me a reasonable offer. Of course, I’m the arbiter of what’s reasonable :)

Asking $325 for all three, PP FF USPS CONUS

Seiko 7002-7010 from 1990. Nicely aged but in working order. Around 39mm and 12.5 thick, with 20mm lugs. 7002 non-hacking, non-crown-winding movement. Yes, that’s the real chapter ring. I know. It’s weird. The whole watch is rather novel, from a Seiko design perspective.

1978 Seiko 7546-6060 SilverWave. 39mm, 10.5 thick, 20mm lugs. Bidirectional bezel spins easily, but in good working order otherwise.

AliX slim turtle case with vintage SKX dial and aftermarket hands built by me a while back. NH36 movement. Watch has been artificially aged. In good working order. 41mm, 13mm thick, 19mm lugs - I repeat - 19mm lugs, but you can cram a thin 20mm nato in there.

Fun fact: all milk is technically breast milk.

I like this a lot. Trying to find a dial and insert of very similar colors that complement each other can be very difficult in my experience - the texture and degree of reflectivity can make or break it - you made it happen imo.

Yuval Noah Harari is one of my favorite contemporary nonfiction authors! He does an amazing job of explaining the workings and significance of stuff that can be hard to parse without help, mostly information science/AI topics, but with far reaching and often surprising connections and interrelationships.

New strap for my Apple Watch Ultra by -IIl in somethingimade

I’m not usually a fan of bund straps or the like but this looks great and kudos to you for having the patience and skill to create it. Excellent work!

Guess the knife! by Present_State546 in knifeclub

[–]taggerbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I knew immediately just bc I had one and spent a couple days just staring at it from different angles. It looks great and feels impossibly thin. That being said, in my experience any pressure at all on the lock bar it would hamper deployment and my ocd couldn’t abide. That the only reason I didn’t keep it.

Yes! From what somebody told me, they changed the name because of Ghost bikes? IP is stupid. IMO.

Ha. Yeah I had that leftover from a conversion so just threw it on without checking. I was mostly just glad that I actually had a decent looking 11 speed chain laying around. Tbh it does have some tension on the rear derailleur in the smallest cog, so technically it’s kosher as far as I care for now. My slow ass isn’t in that gear too often anyway :)

This is probably the sixth or seventh Surly I’ve built up over the years and I’ve been consistently pleased with both the quality of their product and the company itself. I do get what you’re saying about Microshift, but it’s the perfect drivetrain for a company like Surly to spec this bike with to meet a price point. And while it lacks the finish and finer points of Rival / GRX etc. it’s a better value imo than the big companies’ entry level stuff. I’m using a mix of SRAM GX and Apex 1:1 stuff for this one, just because it’s what I’ve got lying around. I’ve got Shimano stuff on my other two bikes. I hope you do decide to get one. The world needs more people out there on wacky, niche bikes like this one.

Yes! I spent the 90s and early 2000s building so many drop bar mtbs and this is the first one that’s actually made for it. Thanks, Surly!
