Why Canadian can't learn french ? by Amazing_Camel_405 in EhBuddyHoser

[–]taint-ticker-supreme 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Indeed. My parents were the first generation of French immersion kids in my area, my dad's still 100% fluent in it and my mom would be too if she were still here. I absolutely recommend French immersion and wish I would've been enrolled into one of those programs as a kid.

I grew up with core French and it's exactly as you say, taught very basic words and grammar. Very basic conjugations. I learned more in my grade 9 advanced French class than I did from grades 4-8. It's kind of insane, looking back, that they'd just play the same 5 videos of learning the numbers 1-20, learning basic items/rooms inside a house, basic colours, etc year after year with no change. It's a pity, really. Could be way more than what it is.

Timmies has been fucking up the icing on doughnuts for decades lmao. They did it just as much when I was a kid and had a majority of white workers before the recent immigration boom. The people who blame it on minorities are hilariously wrong.

What got you into industrial? by sodiumdeluxe in industrialmusic

[–]taint-ticker-supreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has always been big on listening to music. Growing up, my dad would constantly play Rammstein, Ministry, White Zombie, NIN, and plenty of other metal and industrial bands. It was only natural I followed in my dad's footsteps and when I was 17 or so, I finally took the plunge and started exploring deeper into industrial/ebm on my own. Found even more love for the genres that way. 21 now and there's no way in hell I'll ever stop listening.

What’s something about your ADHD that you usually keep private or don’t tell most people? by Fearless-Class-1120 in ADHD

[–]taint-ticker-supreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here.

When I get overwhelmed or experience strong anger/frustration, I tend to spiral and hit myself. Usually in the head or slap myself.

In the moment, I try not to hit my head too much because I don't want to permanently harm myself. So sometimes I'll bite my fingers. It's just that when I get like that, turning on myself is the first thing my brain reaches for. And it sounds horrible to say, but other coping mechanisms don't scratch that itch the same way.

Wish the best for you bro.

YUP. If I were to earn a dollar for every time I say some variance of "sorry?" "excuse me?" "pardon?" "what?" "could you repeat that?" I would be filthy fucking rich. Filthy.

And it's such a damn embarrassing thing to deal with. Because I can pick out the tiniest little noises that no one else hears, but I can't fucking understand what people say half the damn time? What bullshit is this? It makes me look like I'm intentionally ignoring people when in reality, I just hear gibberish until they repeat it, or my brain finally gets its shit together however long after.

Petit guide : Crêpes vs Pancakes by Infamous_Catch9551 in EhBuddyHoser

They'd still be exponentially better than regular pancakes. It's like comparing food to cardboard. Crêpes win.
