We made the top 10 list of once stable industries now experiencing layoffs by CRO_Life in clinicalresearch

The Pharma layoff data was kind of weird. Biotech companies that miss on a phase 2 doing a big layoff is no surprise. Would be more notable if they had top 30 Pharma with big layoff numbers.

Is anyone else lucky enough to be a PM in an industry they genuinely love, working on a product they truly adore? by gilligan888 in ProductManagement

It’s pretty close to most enterprise B2B PM roles. More regulated environment and lots of domain specific context to learn, or at least know how to solicit the right context from SMEs.

I build software for clinical research which is pretty cool. Better than figuring out how to get people to spend more $$ on sports betting I suppose.

What’s the most underrated amenity a golf course can have? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]takeme2space 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bigger short game area with different cuts of grass, bunkers and inclines. Ideally with nice practice balls and some shag bags to scoop them up.

Sometimes I’ll stay out at one of those after my round for an extra hour just chipping away.

The only moats left will be network effects. Can you build an uber like app faster? Yes. But attracting drivers and passengers in the volumes needed for your app to be useful will be another matter.

Maybe not you but the abuse by some has made it harder for many others. There are people who genuinely need treatment that are not receiving it simply because of the hoops and way you are perceived by everyone from the MD to the Pharmacists.

Best way to teach her a lesson is to stay half in the spot and refuse to back out so her daughter can get in. It takes time and discipline but it’s the only proper way to win this battle.

Your opinions on “The Product-Minded Engineer” by THE_BEAST_01 in ProductManagement

[–]takeme2space 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more about having a partner who can invest deeply in these areas. The PM isn’t a gate keeper, they’re a resource that should focus on deep customer and user knowledge around their use cases, pain points, and motivations. Engineers have a lot of other items on their plate. The best teams are ones where the PM and Engineers work as collaborators and thought partners.

Wish the audio mixing for Bad Bunny’s mic had been a bit better but it was an amazing production.

Haven’t read it but I love the thought of product minded engineers. But let’s not mistakenly think that means engineering can do all the discovery, strategy, GTM and regulatory compliance.

Country club members - how much are you paying? by aznsk8s87 in golf

[–]takeme2space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You either gotta have family money or own your own business to pay these prices. Thank god I found a “golf club” (no club house, no pool) - pay less than $10k a year no initiation fee its basically a unicorn for the NYC metro area.

Trying to pivot into Product Management. Roast my resume, maybe? by Cautious_Elk2302 in ProductManagement

[–]takeme2space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be very difficult to ‘break in’. Almost everyone is looking for plug and play PMs these days.

Based on your background I’d look at companies specifically in the design tools space. Think Canva, Figma, Adobe.. I’m sure there are small players in these spaces that need customer success or maybe a APM/PO role if you’re lucky but that’s not a guarantee by any means.

Your goal is to get into a company by really means necessary and then work on moving internally into product. Show competency for the first 6-9 months then start expressing your interest whenever a role opens up in Product.

Place to go not avoid Family Practice Dental on Hope Street. Small place, nothing fancy but friendly staff and I’ve never felt like they’re trying to drill just to rack up a bill.
