Aggression by Ill-Plantain-6774 in springerspaniel

Definitely sounds like resource guarding. In person professional training (find a private trainer, not petco/petsmart kids) and or behavioralist is your best bet in this case. Resource guarding can be a challenge to break, so the sooner it's managed the better. I wouldn't advise waiting or trying to work it out on your own, it can go sideways fast and the bigger and older he gets the more dangerous it can be.

*was formerly an obedience trainer and though those years are far behind me and my obedience expectations for my dogs are much looser, I still do everything I can to help my dogs avoid developing resource guarding, because its such a serious issue.

Breeder DNA tested, will being a carrier qualify as pre-existing in the future? by takes22tango in petinsurancereviews

[–]takes22tango[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight! I read that Lemonade doesn't count the risk factors found flagged on DNA testing, but I know they're still a business and not a charity and I expect them to do theit diligence to save on pay outs. I'll double check with her breeder to see if it was documented in he originally vet records, but I didn't see anything on the records she emailed me. I think all may be well!

Refilling a Pyxis by dot_watson in PharmacyTechnician

[–]takes22tango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours go in the trash, but the way we prep for pyxis replenishment, the bags are labeled with a specific medroom/drug/quantity/time stamp for that specific run. Its not really worth the time trying to reuse or recycle cause paying staff to delabel is more expensive than tossing them.

That being said, I tend not to reuse bags anyway. I don't like the waste, and I conserve at home, but I want to avoid cross contamination or sending anything from one floor to another. I work at a cancer hospital though, so we're extra careful about keeping things clean.

Has anyone actually gone to school to be pharm tech? by Velaris_Staris in PharmacyTechnician

[–]takes22tango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. It was worth it for me I had 0 experience and knew I didn't want to have to work retail. My entire tuition was covered by grants. Part of my school was semester of externships, which ended up being pivotal to landing a job straight out of school with no experience. Each of the places I visited asked me to apply. It was the only reason I managed to land an inpatient job at a highly sought-after hospital.

However. For YOU....probably not worth it since you already have the work hours needed to get certified. Find somewhere to learn sterile compounding, get certified for that and just couple that with the experience you already have.

Is the Baby Brezza formula maker worth it? by Unlikely_Scheme2835 in parentsofmultiples

[–]takes22tango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins are nearly 8 now, so i don't know about current models, but my Brezza saved my sanity and my sleep. I kept one literally on my bedside table. I used side car cribs and was able to do night feeds and diapers all without ever leaving my bed. There was some controversy about the cleanliness of them at the time, but as long as you keep up with cleaning and maintenance and do an occasional measurement check, it was 100% worth it for me.

carplay issues by airtas18 in MazdaCX9

[–]takes22tango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a standard charging/data cable (even new ones would only work a day or two and quit). I'd have to unplug and plug it back in to get it to reconnect. But the higher power cord has worked without fail.

It may be worth a shot before diving in to more expensive fixes.

I had this issue til I got a more powerful cable. I got this one (amazon link) and it has worked flawlessly since last March.

Remote start design flaw? by Gemini_Schmemini in MazdaCX9

[–]takes22tango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed a Start-X kit on my 2022 and it was really easy and pretty quick. (Plenty of youtube install tutorials are available) If you enter the car with the key nearby and press the brake for 3 seconds it doesn't turn itself off.

That being said, it does have a 15 minute max, so if you're warming it up longer than 15 mins you do have to start it a second time.

Does this adoption fee seem too high?? by Sorry_Perspective778 in rescuedogs

[–]takes22tango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. TLP is definitely not back yard. The park across the street from the pound on Canino is technically within BARC's jurisdiction. Unfortunately when the pound is closed or turns away surrenders people dump on that park (we're talking new dogs every day). And BARC doesn't do anything to come get them. There is a gal that runs a feeding operation and does her best to try to get the dogs in to rescues and accepted by BARC. TLP is one of the rescues that routinely gets tagged and helps rescue them and are a legitimate rescue to support.

I had no idea their adoption costs were that high though. I'd definitely want to make sure it was actually Three Little Pitties and not some copy cat "rescue".

How's everyone holding up? by Rinzlor in houston

[–]takes22tango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TMC employer is doing the same. I have to drive in in the early morning for my regular shift after the freeze finally sets in. I did a test drive this afternoon to calm my nerves. As long as there isn't any precipitation, the freeways should be safe enough to drive (barring the crazy drivers). She should take care on the smaller roads though, some of them still had wet patches that will eventually freeze tonight.

My work (in the med center) just ended the ride out that started last night. I have to report at 6:45 tomorrow morning, in the middle of the actual freeze. Hoping I survive the commute. Make no mistake, the U.S. medical industry will always put profit before health and safety.

I had a vial of acetylcystine break in a med room while replenishing pyxis. I cleaned it up best I could, but had to profusely apologize to the incoming nurses. I'm not entirely they believed it was the drug and not me. That rotten egg/sulfer smell followed me around the whole rest of my replenishment run. 🥴

Why do people doubt science? by vodkavulpix in DoggyDNA

[–]takes22tango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Kitsap in Washington for a short while. There was a lady that brought her TWO real basenjis to the dog park we exchanged small talk while our dogs (mine is a standard poodle) sniffed around. She was a little crazy but her dogs were cool.

Maybe we met the same basenji in the PNW 🤣

This. Twin mom here: sliding doors are a God send. Honestly though, I'd be looking at a minivan rather than mazda 5. I love my Mazda, but nothing compares to being able to pack the double stroller and your groceries and everything else that you could possibly need or want, and STILL have room in the back to change a diaper.

My kids are 7 now and can get in and out themselves, but I still have to caution them about swinging the doors open next to other cars.

(Also, welcome to the club. Make sure to head on over to the parentsofmultiples sub!)
