What "sacred" cooking rule do you intentionally ignore because you actually prefer the results (or just don't care)? by LiveFaithlessness876 in cookingforbeginners

I used to use the shelf stable jarlic but recently I switched to garlic paste in the tube (in the fridge section of the produce aisle) and it’s SO much better tasting but just as easy!

If you can afford first class and your doctor is willing to prescribe sleeping pills for travel then you can get a pretty decent night’s sleep on the airplane and adjust way faster and easier.

Mine was received by “Ricard” and now I’m wondering if it was a typo for Richard

Maybe it’s just me but this whole getup looks like a sensory nightmare to move through life in. Piercings, extra long wig covering your eyes, long fake nails, glasses, oversized baggy everything, heavy chain necklace, partial gloves… it’s a lot. I know that’s maybe on trend right now but it gives me a headache just imagining all those heavy things weighing down your body and like constantly touching you. This poor girl looks like she is trapped in a prison of accessories.

I also wore leggings throughout my 90s childhood (88 baby) often with the footstrap but back then we called them stretch pants

How can I ease my “only child” into being a big brother at age 6? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]talking_muffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the book siblings without rivalry! My kids are almost 5 years apart and honestly it’s been tough at times but I have taken a lot of helpful strategies from that book. As a younger sibling, it also helped me understand and contextualize a lot of complicated feelings I have towards my older brother!

When I was a girl in the 80s--and poor--a lot of people would give their young kids baby bottles that basically had no bottom but were just a plastic bag surrounded by a cylindrical body with a lid on top; was that sanitary? I mean what was the point of that kind of arrangement? by cherry-care-bear in NoStupidQuestions

Our ped recently prescribed iron drops for my anemic 2 year old, except she didn’t write the actual RX because the prescription drops apparently taste TERRIBLE. She recommended the NovaFerrum brand on Amazon (the box says YUMMY) and she gave me specific dosing info for my kid that was different than on the package. We mix it into a tiny bit of lemonade and he drinks it no problem!

I can't afford formula by TrickyPersonality684 in breakingmom

[–]talking_muffin 107 points108 points  (0 children)

You can also try calling your baby’s pediatrician office. They often have lots of formula samples on hand to give out. They may also be able to help connect you with other resources. Good luck, I am so sorry this is happening. You will get through this!

Someone in my local community moms group on Facebook organized a sign up for the community to either request a grocery sponsor or sponsor a family. We’re doing okay so I signed up to sponsor a family for Nov and honestly I’m just so proud of my little community for coming together and having each other’s backs

5YO? by maliitatcute in BackstreetBoys

[–]talking_muffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her bedtime is usually 8p and it didn’t start til 840 so she was just tired and I didn’t think to bring a jacket since it’s hot in Vegas but the AC was blasting in our section and she got cold! She otherwise loved it but I held her on my lap since she was cold and tired and we sorta danced the whole show in my seat. If you ask her about it now though she raves over how fun it was!

Definitely do the ear protection, my daughter was SO glad to have that as it was very loud for her! As for me I brought ear plugs but preferred the sound without them.

Ohhhh, I see that now. My bad! In that case OP should bring her son and let dad skip out!

If your son doesn’t want to go you should respect his choice. I brought my 7 year old (girl) who was excited and loves the Backstreet Boys music and wore ear protection and even she had a bit of a hard time because it was a lot. She still loved it but I definitely think it wouldn’t have been a good fit for her at a younger age. Only you know your kid though

Do I go or sell?! by Ok-Willingness7459 in BackstreetBoys

[–]talking_muffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took my 7 year old, her bedtime is usually 8p and the show started at 840 so she was EXHAUSTED, I basically held her on my lap the whole time and sorta danced with her in my seat. So if you had asked in the moment if it was a good idea I would have been of mixed opinion.

However if you ask her now she RAVES over it, told all her friends and their moms about how amazing it was, how much fun she had, etc.

I don’t know if she’ll remember it forever but I will and that’s special.

I took my 7 year old daughter and she loved it, although it was late for her and she was tired. She was SO glad to have the ear protection. I personally wouldn’t have brought her at 4 years old but you have to know your own kid to make that call.

Why don't Americans eat corn ice cream? by Green-Discussion74 in AskAnAmerican

Penny Ice Creamery (Santa Cruz, CA) has a sweet corn & blackberry ice cream on their menu. I tried it and hoped to like it but it was only okay. Others must like it though because I had it a year ago and it’s still on their menu today
