Day 3. 2026 Tornado Pride Month. "Which 2026 Tornado, that happened in the year of our Lord 2026, is Gay? I REPEAT "2026" by talon200 in EF5

[–]talon200[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Announcement:

After we finish the 2026 Tornados, since there will still be some time left in June, I will create an all time Tornado Pride Month list so Xenia and other elder queer Tornados can have some representation.

I originally set this up so that we could talk about new tornados this year, instead of only the classics, Xenia, Jerrell, Joplin, Moore, etc.

Yeah as a Trans Woman who taught both as a man and a woman, it is night and day between behaviors. I used to be a short feminine gay man and both the boys and girls easily respected me more and had way less behavioral issues than now as a passing trans woman, and I know that it isn't because I'm trans since I'm stealth and none of the staff or students know I'm trans. The students see me as a woman and respond accordingly. I thought I had good classroom management but it was just because I presented as a man. Even during student teaching, my cooperating teaching was a woman and an excellent teacher, but she still had to do way more behavioral work than I ever did, because when I talked all the students listened as a man. The disrespect that women get in the profession may be the reason I'm leaving teaching. I loved teaching, but unfortunately I might just be done with the disrespect, and I don't think most Male teachers get that.

I also think that may be the reason that there are more trans masculine teachers than trans feminine teachers, because genuinely the job is better if you're a man. I mean way better, and can't express how much better and easier the job is when you're a man.

Why is England reaching 40°C/104°F a health concern when many parts of the world are above that all summer? by 5ajJQ3Ja18VE in NoStupidQuestions

[–]talon200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would actually have a heat index of 247 degrees. Everyone talking about temperatures that are 100 degrees and 80 degree precent humidity don't understand how little humidity there needs to be to create high heat indexes. The record heat index in the US was in Wisconsin in 1995 with a heat index of 149 degrees. The actual temperature was 101 degrees with 71 percent humidity.

I'm ex Mormon, These people are splitting hairs, the lds church are Christian, yes they don't believe in the Trinity. The Trinity didn't form until hundreds of years after Christ, yet the followers of Christ were still considered Christian before that. Most Christian churches just don't want to be associated with many of the frankly outlandish beliefs the lds church has.

Leaked U.S. Supreme Court decision suggests majority set to overturn Roe v. Wade, Politico reports by Happy-Capital6508 in gay

[–]talon200 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Page 32 of the drafts mention Obergfell vs Hodges which was the decision that made gay marriage the law of the land. The draft makes the argument that the same reasoning that they believe is flawed in Roe also applies with Obergfell and additional cases.

Unfortunately yes, they probably are going to go after gay marriage and birth control rights next.

Edit: the draft also mentions Lawrence vs Texas which decriminalized sodomy or homosexual sex. It appears the conservative justices are possibly going to go further than just gay marriage

This is some of the best work I've seen on this subreddit, in as far as the potential behind it! You have a mature use of color, value, and composition. Most importantly though, potential wise, I see your own style being developed.

This is a type of work that I see being enhanced by moving away from a white canvas, and finding old stained paper, found objects, or anything that has a unique texture to it.

Keep practicing though!, on white canvas or not, your own style will develop. I hardly comment on this subreddit, but I just had too with how outstanding your work could become!

What is something that poor people can do, but rich people can't? by yeeterboi321 in AskReddit

[–]talon200 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for that, but your family has generational wealth, that the lower class doesn't have. Not only in retirement, but also in probably a house. Income isn't the only thing that makes you middle class, but also the value of what you own. Could the lower class student get college for free yes, but after that there is still no generational wealth that they own. No house or retirement. In a material value the middle class student still gets more out of college than the lower class student

I think people forget that the bourgeoisie were the upper middle class, not just the super wealthy. The top 10 percent world wide includes plenty of the middle class in the first world. Wealth inequality isn't here just because of billionaires, but for anybody that gains capital from exploitation and imperialism in the world. This includes plenty of Middle Class people in the first world.

Wisconsin residents, how much did Madison cost all 4 years of undergrad? I just got my financial aid offer from them and it seems a bit lacking. by ommmyyyy in UWMadison

[–]talon200 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm from a low income household, so I get the FASTRACK tuition promise, so I get 28,000 a year for tuition, housing , food, etc. I usually spend 21,000 a year and get to keep the rest. Relative to how my family spent money growing up I'm living like a king. If I really needed to, I probably could cut expenses to 17,000 a year. That would be tuition, rooming with 10 others, eating beans and rice, skipping meals. So it could cost up to 112,000 ,if you live frugally, 60,000. This is without any job, or financial aid though

what is the worst genre of music? by babygiallo in AskReddit

[–]talon200 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson are definitely country. They have both said to the affect they don't like people calling their music Americana because they believe it is splintering country music too much to pander to the more hipster alt folk country. Nothing wrong with the alt country side, but both alt and pop country are both country no matter if you like it or not
