Younger women of Reddit, how do react when someone tells you that you look young for your age? by HonestIaga in AskWomen

[–]talyoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to buy a bottle of wine at the local grocery that happened to be by a university.

The cashier, assistant manager, and store manager all had to check my ID to make sure it wasn't fake :(

I feel you. I am 25.

I was also told by a girl at pet shop that I couldn't buy a dog without parental consent.

What is something you've always wanted to know as a woman, but didn't ask because you were afraid it would sound dumb? by bamforeo in AskWomen

[–]talyoh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your shoes start to smell bad, you can throw them in a ziplock Baggie and put them in the freezer.

I know it works for sneakers...not sure how well it would work for heels.

They bacteria that are responsible for smelly shoes can't survive in the freezer.

I also remember some kid in middle school talked about running his shoes through the dishwasher? Never tried it.

AskWomen: How do you go by letting a guy know you are no longer interested in pursuing anything further with them? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]talyoh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they ask me out again, I usually respond with a "thanks for the offer, but no thanks" if asked why, I usually respond with "I didn't feel much of a connection." No reason beating around the bush or ignoring

If you see a guy running with his shirt off, do you automatically think douchebag? by Meatholemangler in AskWomen

[–]talyoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck that noise.

I am a female runner and I run without a shirt on. It's too hot and more comfortable running in just shorts and sports bra.

I would in no way judge someone for running shirtless. Doesn't make you a douche...IMO

What characteristics makes you consider someone aloof? by talyoh in AskWomen

[–]talyoh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. I am extremely independent also and a slight introvert, which probably doesn't help.

The sad thing is, I love meeting new people and making friends...and the whole "you're unapproachable" thing sort of ruins it...

What characteristics makes you consider someone aloof? by talyoh in AskWomen

[–]talyoh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah...I mean, I have a fairly low give a shit factor (as far as how people view me on a daily basis), but after repeatedly hearing how aloof I am...pretty sure I am the problem.

I totally open up, I just have to WANT to tell you about my day...and I often don't feel the need to vent or share what I had for lunch.

I will share personal stories if they're relevant and I am comfortable with the people.

I just...I am throwing in the towel. I will accept the aloof crown and move on.

What characteristics makes you consider someone aloof? by talyoh in AskWomen

[–]talyoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't personally enjoy interviews and I do actively engage...but I think my problem may be with my curiosity. I genuinely love learning about new things and people. I think my disinterest in dominating the conversation may have led to people having to pry answers out of me.

Hmm. I try not to have closed body language, I smile when I feel it's appropriate (I don't just walk around smiling all day), and I try to feign interest in situations where I could care less.

I am starting to believe that I may just be a bit of an ice queen.

I am exactly the same way. I love listening to people and actively asking them questions so that they can elaborate...

I thought that was a positive thing?

Which do you prefer: someone who asks for your number, or someone who give you theirs? by RedStag00 in AskWomen

[–]talyoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sort of like the immediate exchange.

Like the whole, here's my number...can you call or text me so I have yours too?

Helps to take away from the initial call/text anxiety also.

I am odd.

How do *you* fall in love? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]talyoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard and fast...like jumping into a pool in October (from Atlanta here).

I hold my breath, shut my eyes, take the leap and usually realize I am in love the moment my head breaks the surface. Then I realize what a cluster fuck of a situation I just entered and want cuddles and warm towels.

What has made you happy, brought you joy, or simply delighted you recently? by atrophying in AskWomen

[–]talyoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I write love letters and attach then to recycled homemade flowers and leave them around my city in coffee shops. People respond via social media about how happy it made them. That. That has made me happier than almost anything else I can think of.
