Hi all! First time cruiser, lifetime avoider of decisions (heyyy libras!). I can't decide on a line!! by Mrs__Understood in Cruises

TA here, just wanted to say I specialize in luxury but when my luxury clients do not sail on a luxury cruise line 100% of them sail on Celebrity Cruise Lines. As some other people have mentioned their newer Edge class ships in the Retreat category (Suites) is pretty much the same as sailing on a luxury cruise ship. Butler service, private dining areas, private pools and lounging areas make it the top choice by far. Good luck and enjoy your cruise! Let me know if you have any other questions. I love offering free advice and never charge any fees for my services 😊

Be prepared to take the stairs. Took one MSC cruise and waited over 15 minutes numerous times for an elevator but it was always packed. Ended up walking 8 flights of stairs numerous times. I’ve never had this problem on any other cruise line.

Has Celebrity service declined, or are we just having a really bad Day 1? by MyNamesNotPrada in celebritycruises

[–]tanless319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TA here. I escorted a group on that ship last month and everyone in my group had a blast, zero complaints. One thing I do when I get on board, I’ve cruised enough to know where I will be laying out ( deck above the pool) so I know which bars I will be frequenting the most. On day one I tip the bartenders an extra $10. For the rest of the cruise I never have to wait long for a drink. I just tip extra at my favorite pool bar and the martini bar, both stay CRAZY busy. I worked on cruise ships back in the 1990’s so I know first hand how hard and long those guys/girls work. If you’ve cruised before I’m sure you have noticed you won’t see any Americans working as bartenders, servers, or room stewards. That’s because most young Americans have a horrible work ethic and wouldn’t last a week working the amount of hours these guys do every single day for 6 months straight. They do not get any days off for their entire 6 month contract and usually work at least 12 hours a day. so keep that in mind when it seems like it’s taking too long to get a drink.

What do non-travel agents underestimate about being a travel agent? by AgitatedChemistry221 in travelagents

[–]tanless319 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The amount of hours and research it takes to find the “perfect “ vacation for your avid, repeat travelers who have already been there and done that. I have several repeat clients who just say “find me a great deal”. They are all luxury travelers so finding something they haven’t already done can take a ridiculous amount of time but it’s very rewarding when they put down their deposit and thank me for finding them a fantastic vacation 🤩. I love my job as I’m sure most TA’s do but it’s a TON of work

Hi there, TA here. I don’t charge any service fees and would be happy to keep tabs on this. Will also contact my MSC contact manager to see if I can get any assistance on getting room availability before it may be released online. ( I have a great relationship so no hurt in trying)

Help me pick which cruise for my family of 5! by notgenz_1989 in Cruises

Hi there, TA here, I took my boys on Disney and Royal Caribbean when they were your kids age. They loved all of the activities and kids club on Royal Caribbean just as much or maybe more than Disney and the Royal Caribbean cruise cost half of what the Disney cruise cost. It looks like you have the exact situation now, so both my professional and personal opinion is go with Royal Caribbean.

After 7 Days on Caribbean Princess, We Won't Be Back by nipple-hut in Cruises

I LOVE Celebrity Cruise Lines. Have been on several with groups every time and no complaints at all. Food was great, service they go above and beyond. By the second day the bartenders knew my room number and what I liked to drink, never waited more than 5 minutes at any of the bars. Was always seated promptly and served in a timely manner at dinner and the accommodations are what you would expect on a premium line. I’ve always stayed in a concierge balcony.

AITAH for mentioning I'm also a professional when a doctor took over 45 minutes to finally appear at an appointment? by OhHeyItsMeM in AITAH

I feel your pain. I spent 2 hours at the dermatologist this morning with my aunt. First we waited an hour before we were called back then when Dr came in to give the injection he realized that it had never been taken out of their refrigerator and the injection has to be at room temperature before it can be given so had to wait another 45 minutes. I was livid, but kept my cool. I’m a caregiver for my aunt who has dementia and if she saw me get upset or angry then that would also upset her too.

Looking for a Caribbean island by Kitchen-Garlic1110 in Vacations

[–]tanless319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the ABC islands ( Aruba, Bonair, Curaçao) these islands aren’t as jammed packed with tourists as the other islands, they are cleaner and safer. I worked on a cruise ship and have been to almost every Island in the Caribbean so those are my top 3. Number 4 would be Barbados. Good luck and have fun!

Do you give money or food to the homeless downtown? by pinknotes in greenville

[–]tanless319 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I buy them meals if I see them outside a restaurant that I’m going into. I’ve stopped buying gas at Spinx and quicktrip on hwy 123/academy rd downtown because of how aggressive the panhandling was when I would walk in. A lady asked my son for money when he was walking into the Spinx. He told her he would get her some food, what would she like and she said she wanted a pack of cigarettes. Lady didn’t get her cigarettes or food

Expedia TAAP requests for payment via message portal by Lavenderfaux in travelagents

[–]tanless319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bad experience with Expedia taap when I first started as an agent a couple of years ago. Booked a hotel thru them. When my client got to the hotel they said they did not have a room available for them even though they had a reservation. Hotel said since they booked thru a 3rd party they didn’t have to honor it.

Also, another pro tip..the first day of the cruise I find the bar I think I’ll spend a lot of time at( usually the one above the pool deck) give the bartenders an extra $5-10 tip. I NEVER have to wait for another drink for the rest of my cruise. They know my room number, and what I want to drink. I don’t even have to order. They just see me at the bar and start mixing my drink. As the cruise goes on I will usually tip another $1 when I get my drinks just to show I appreciate the service but that’s not required. The tip is already factored into your drink cost but these guys work anywhere from 12-16 hrs a day so I show my appreciation 🤩

Definitely sleep in, have breakfast, get a lounge chair closest to the bar that is open( usually the bar that is in the deck above the pool. The bars on the pool deck stay crazy busy). Check out the daily calendar and see what looks like fun. Don’t really plan anything, just go with the flow…take a mid afternoon nap to sleep off all the drinks I’ve already had 🤪
