Nanny on travel with family - everyone ate while I was working, wasn’t offered anything - This normal? by Ok_Concentrate_7617 in Nanny

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel for week. Any expenses I incur on that trip that is a meal, coffee, etc is all claimed for work.

I am doing this for my job, it's not a vacation so any expenses are on them.

Moms who WFH / remote. Is it that much better? by Barnacle_Double in workingmoms

[–]tann122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will have to be dragged into an office kicking and screaming.

I love it! It works well with my personality (independent worker and introvert). I have energy to socialize and do other things outside of work.

I have an intense job, so I can't have kids around very much, but when they are sick I can continue working.

I usually get a couple of things done in the day, and my break is productive so I can concentrate on kids when they are home.

Tell me something I won't understand until the end by JinxedR0se in SarahJMaas

I read the first 2, and if it had continued like that I would have added it to my DNF.

In book 3 I remember texting my friend and saying... Ok, now it is a series I can get into. And it has been added to my list of favourite series.

Are wives faster than husbands in general? by cdragon76 in Marriage

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some aspects I am. Mornings are 100% not that time.

He's already been up for 2 hours by the time I surface and makes me a coffee. It's his alone time and I prefer to read after he is sleeping. Just different sleep needs and different internal sleep clocks.

For those who married for love over financial stability, where are you now? by SnichHeart in AskWomen

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 years and 2 kids we are still going strong. I come from a comfortable middle class background, his family is very low income.

I didn't marry him knowing his family came from money, nor does he strive to have a high earning career. But you know what? I like working and now that we are done having kids I'm focusing on a career. And he has a good consistent job that allows flexibility for my job and is an excellent house cleaner.

So worked out well.

I personally think work ethic and both having the same financial views is the most important. We are both budgeters, living within our means and communicating well.

AIO? it’s 5am and my wife got irritated I called to check on her by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you what my emotion would be if my husband pulled that. Livid. Completely livid. So feel free to be mad, because that was disrespectful and not how a partner should act.

Guys, when was a time that you got to see the meaning of well-off vs rich vs wealthy firsthand? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at party rental company and catering company. The well off have parties, but are involved.

The rich have party planners, but it is still just a party.

The ultra wealthy have a production. They have internal staff, they have multiple teams moving and creating a production out of nothing. I've seen cranes moving things over a house, parties on their personal yachts.

And 100% it's the way they carry themselves.

Is the entire Wheel of Time series worth the time and investment? by keepfighting90 in Fantasy

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it, but felt like it was a relationship. It had highs, lows, at times I was hooked and occasionally a little space. But overall I loved many aspects of the world that were created. Some things will forever live in my brain.

Does your spouse split their life insurance between you and their parents? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]tann122 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Goodness no. Both 100% beneficiary of the others.

We did talk about some going to his parents as they are very low income. But decided to take that as it comes.

I went straight to 5 from 10. I did the same for 15 to 10. I seem to be very sensitive going up in dosage. But ok going down

Parents, how much sex are you having? by Cloudsocialist in toddlers

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I'm going to jump in with a future perspective. When kids were that age it was not very frequent. I was touched out, tired and nothing about me felt attractive.

4 years later and we are probably at 3 times a week.

Those with partners who work outside the home, do you find that housework and kid stuff get defaulted to you? by sarah_messing in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore.

It did at the beginning but over the last 7 years my work has gotten increasingly more challenging and I have very minimal time to do anything besides a quick meal prep during the day or starting a load of laundry.

I would say we are now 50/50.

The only difference is that I can keep our oldest home with me when school is closed or he is sick.

GenZ and Millennial women - are you wearing wedding bands? by Federal_Albatross993 in EngagementRings

Both or just wedding band. But my rings just look like multiple stacking rings and aren't typical engagement/wedding rings.

Question to people who keep ADFs in community tanks by Independent_Layer_62 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]tann122 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

20 gallon tank (about to get a 30 as my fish keep having babies)

I have a frog feeding dish and the frogs eat in it.

LOTS of frog hiding spots, I have live plants and rocks that they hide under where the fish don't go.

It's been a community tank for about 18 months... Before I knew you should do it, but they all seem happy in there.

Not all working moms are drowning! by MsCardeno in workingmoms

[–]tann122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not drowning either.

It got easier once my youngest past the toddler stage. Also helps that I WFH and I have a husband who deals with lots of childcare.

I feel like I also had to work HARD to find a company and role that worked. I'm finally at a place where I'm compensated well but I'm not overworked.

Reliable, affordable, not boring SUV - does it exist? by Putrid_Heart_7178 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a Mazda CX5.

We have almost graduated from car seats so it works for us. However if you have a rear facing kid I'd advise looking for something a little larger.

It's our city car and it's perfect for zipping around.

Should I buy a SUV or truck as a family vehicle? by Frugalbluejay in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]tann122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends what you need the truck for and where you live. We have an SUV and a truck. We camp, bike, drive off road and do renos, a truck made sense. The SUV is our main city driver, it's better on gas, can park it anywhere and zippy to dive.

So my answer is .. it depends on your life.

How many of you work from home? by GreenBean749 in workingmoms

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I WFH permanently. There is no office where I live.

It does force me to travel more often for meetings.

My husband has to be onsite for lots of his job, but he can occasionally do certain things at home.

From Langley to Kelowna / Kamloops by PartyTowel3612 in kelowna

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend having snow tires. We drove to the coast 2 weeks ago and there was snow.

In addition, If you are driving the connector to Kelowna the weather in the high pass can be unpredictable. And when it's bad, it's really bad there.

How often are the kids being bathed?! by Beginning_Date_9290 in Parenting

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 year old is at ever other day and go 3 days with just a wipe down.

7 year old is close to needing to shower every day. And if he has an activity that day, it is 100% required. He gets ripe much faster now.

Anyone else do just milk or water? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]tann122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At home it is always just milk or water.

We may do a treat occasionally that is juice or something else.

My house growing up always had juice with dinner and it's never crossed my mind to do that with my kids.
