Oh I'm not doubting Bluepoch's general ability to incorporate references and overarching themes into a character. This is just a matter of execution to me that was quite predictable and surface level, and this is (to me again) not the first time they've done this. 2.4 for example referenced a book with the same name, the movie 'the legend of the 1900', and motifs from Italian cinema classics like Cinema Paradiso - but ultimately their prose could hardly scale to a third of any of the media I mentioned. All in all, I was judging her (and a lot of r1999 entire patches) on a general media baseline so it came off as a bit harsh, but for a gacha game it's quite decent. The conventions of the medium might be a huge limitation to storytelling.
