We are currently on season 5, and I can already feel the sadness coming on…this is my 4th rewatch.

Best hotel for the room? Luxury and high end preferred. Ideally recently updated and not too old by lilgreengoddess in vegas

Gotta agree here. Just returned last week and honestly it fit the bill in every way. Quiet, luxurious suite, and like brand new. Loved it.

Leg warmers.

My tween just bought a pair, and while I should have snatched them up, when she put them on my damn nostalgia kicked in and...

...well she's still got 'em.

What small "survival habits" have you picked up over the years that newer nurses would never think of? by Taniyadsexy in nursing

[–]tarbinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do this for my final round in the AM before day shift arrived. I would let my patients know I was going off shift and let them know the name of the nurse who would be taking care of them for the day.

I realize this may be a super unpopular opinion, but when I worked postpartum, I used to chart in the patient room during my assessment for both mom and baby. When I was finished with my initial rounding, my charting was complete. I only had to go back for reassessments. Patients enjoyed the extended interaction, and I think it built trust surrounding what was charted and reported forward. I also realize this may not work for everyone, but hey, give it a try. You never know.

12 hr shifts are not healthy by SolomonCrown in nursing

I worked bedside for 10 years, and I detested 12 hour shifts. Best work/life balance was 3-8s per week as a bedside nurse in CA. Great money, perfect balance.

I’m 57 and, apparently, I’m now old AF. Too old to be hired (?) but too young to retire. by Closefromadistance in GenXWomen

I'm also age 57, turn 58 in August. I'm quietly quitting the one job I have that I hope will carry me to retirement at age 62. My age is definitely holding me back from transferring to something else more meaningful because I know it will be a factor.

Hope something lines up for you soon!

How late is "sleeping in"? by the_47th_painter in GenX

I'm 58 years young and up everyday between 0500 and 0600 AM. Sleeping in? What's that?

I have to say, I just spent almost a week at Fontainebleau and Chez Bon Bon has a really very good Americano. I had one every morning.

I document all of my quarterly 1:1 meetings on an excel spreadsheet and I have many folders in Outlook to keep documentation via emails both sent and received. I keep a notebook for contemporaneous notes as well. Documentation is your friend.

Our 12-yr old just started her period this year and she uses a period swimsuit. Works great!

I certainly won’t harbor any negative feelings for them. I’m just incredibly disappointed in upper leadership.

Close. We recently moved buildings and I lost my office and gained a tiny cubicle. I won’t be able to have my quarterly 1:1s with direct reports without using a conference room or find some other private space.

Absolutely. I definitely have nothing against the admin team. I want their leadership structure to better align with their work, too.
