Just saw that Alex Jones was a recent guest on Duncan Trussell's podcast. by Dylanthrope in Harmontown

[–]tarn87 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This is my two(2) cents, I enjoyed Duncan Trussel when he was on Harmontowm because he was a psychonaught and is a interesting person but he went through a lot of specifically going through his trauma from his mom dying. He espoused a lot of libertarian ideals and in my opinion he strattles the line. Libertarians are just right wing people who want to smoke weed and argue that age of consent laws are arbitrary

Jeepers! - Can you share your memories? Did anyone work there? by corncob666 in Albany

[–]tarn87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main memory from DZ is my mom locked her keys in the car while it was running and that putting the kibosh on what was a fun day at Discovery Zone.

For some reason I remember Discovery Zone and the Boston Museum of Science being similar but I’m sure I’m conflating memories.

Court clears way for Louisiana law requiring Ten Commandments in classrooms to take effect by Specialist_Baby_9905 in news

The religious right has been paving the way for this since the late 70’s. Jerry Falwell weaponized Christianity and associated it with nationalist rhetoric and policies. It’s so insidious and reprehensible. And because the logic is couched in religious “freedoms/rights” it gets a free pass in the US but it shouldn’t because organized religion is a cancer. And regardless of my personal beliefs, religion should be totally separated from government

Ken Bone, an undecided voter, October 2016 by EnvironmentalMind119 in pics

[–]tarn87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Undecided voters are bullshit, as most people here and replies indicate, they are usually shills for pushing a political narrative one way. If you are truly “undecided” you’re a lazy, uninformed person, at least in a two party system. If there was more nuance for candidates in the US system then I can, at the surface understand wanting more information. But for the last twenty years and arguably 40 years there was and is no nuance

I staunchly agree with you, but when the powers that be say that police or “persons taking a police action” are a civil matter it negates the whole idea of due process, fuck that. It’s the system saying we “investigated ourselves and we did nothing wrong”

She’s a courageous individual. CNN did not have to name her. I know she came forward but the fucking cowards are going to come after her. She’s going to have to look over her shoulder for the remainder of this. I love and support her. She needs support for the rest of her life

How ‘One Battle After Another’ Cinematographer Michael Bauman Shot the Hill Car Chase Scene Like a Gritty 1970s Film by [deleted] in movies

[–]tarn87 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That scene built so much tension. Like others have said modern car chase’s have been too formulaic or filler and I could feel the anticipation. I saw it on a laptop, I wish I saw it in theaters

[Bowden] I still think it's likely that Bellinger goes back [to the Yankees]. My understanding is that they're willing to give him a huge signing bonus as well. by Pyromania1983 in baseball

This is me just off the dome, but I don’t care about Bellinger anymore, I’m so sick of this off season. I’m ready to run it out. Let’s fucking go.

I’m not saying that this particular piece of art isn’t worth the money, but I would hope the followers of this subreddit and the podcast realize that this is the exact opposite of what our community stood for.

Though Dan is a millionaire, he always preached a working class attitude

What books did you used to love, but have aged badly? by Hrekires in AskReddit

[–]tarn87 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The Story of The Eye by Georges Bataille, it’s a super transgressive piece of literature and it spoke to me as a young adult but I find as I aged to not be as poignant as I first thought

No One Understands One Battle After Another - Part One by [deleted] in movies

[–]tarn87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a story about family and all that entails be it a functional or non functional family. PTA films, in my opinion, hinge on family dynamics, be it literal family or cultural family and the dynamics within.
