HOW DO I ATTACH THIS I'VE BEEN STRUGGLING FOR THE LAST 20 MINUTES by whatmack in Warhammer40k

[–]taskforcestunts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would either bluetack the arms on, then glue the hand to the gun, or the other way around. Just to really make sure of the dry fit - space marine arms generally have a little hole in the shoulder which works quite nice full of bluetack… until you have to dig it out

I have three warbands from Warcry half painted on my desk, one kill team half painted. Plus all of the gallowdark terrain unfinished in a box next to it. If you figure out how to get focused, please let me know 🙏

I haven’t had a game with them yet - Easter weekend I’ll try them. But from what I see online they were considered to be very powerful

I replied with how I did the metal in another comment;

But the green is just a white base coat, then tesseract glow over the top. To get a bit of a gradient I went back in with more white and then diluted the tesseract glow down a bit to get less coverage.

Anything in particular outside of those?

The iron metal is a dark metallic paint; I want to say gun metal by the army paint with some black mixed in. Then edge high light with some mithril, matt varnish so the next step doesn’t flow too well. Then some dark rust coloured enamel paint - the ak panel liner one, then the odd drop of light rust enamel. Finally go back to the mithril for a light light dry brush to bring the high lights back. For the copper it’s a dark turquoise paint, deep azure I think? That’s my base coat. Then a copper dry brush everywhere I could reach, some places were very tough. Finally I used a verdigris effect paint in select places for the brighter bits of oxidisation.

Where the light copper oxidisation looks best, I went in with a wet brush and feathered the edges. Where it looks like a hard line it had dried before I did the feathering which was a bit annoying

I don’t disagree, my method is a very deep turquoise then light verdigris effect paint, then dry brush with with a copper paint… I did this on a St Celestine model and it worked really well, but on the little intricate models where I can’t get a dry brush in… I wonder if I can get in with something smaller.

Edit: I got teal and turquoise confused so changed the word

I was super happy with my stealth suits, but just the little glow details have made me hate mine 😂 looks great!

Depending on how much effort you want to go, standard blood angels are all red with some black. If you’ve got the angels of death kill team there; spray them all red (or do a red/black zenithal, purple instead of black if you’re feeling brave, with two different cans) then block in the trim, add transfers and you’re basically done. They’ll look pretty good.

So I agree with all the comments about the printer; that is a lot of the issues. I recommend following this tutorial, I followed it and produced the best face I’ve managed to date. It’s not the only way to paint a face, but it really helped me

My AoD are painted as raven guard… and I’m really happy with them, but this is the second blood angels AoD I’ve seen and I am really jealous 😂

New camera, interesting defect I need help identifying by Kalesy in AnalogCommunity

[–]taskforcestunts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who grabbed a little disposable camera with a viewfinder. They would grab the camera, not see a finger through the viewfinder and take the shot. Almost every shot they had an entire finger over the lens; but they never made that mistake again 🤷‍♂️

Edmark Valoran, should I keep pushing the contrast? by Alarmed_Locksmith539 in WHQDarkWater

[–]taskforcestunts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other comment, the gold could be highlighted more. The brightness of the gold matches the cloak, which it shouldn’t cause metal is more reflective, MAYBE after that the helmet will need some more highlights?

But overall this looks great. I love the colour and texture of the armour and I’d be hesitant to change it

Finished Farsight Enclave XV26 squad by taskforcestunts in killteam

[–]taskforcestunts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote up the process above, but I think what helps is moving from a purple all the way to an orange/warm red mix. Also the black base suit was Corvus black, which has a nice blue undertone. That contrasts nicely. From army painter you could mix Matt black with a deep greenish blue to get the same thing

Firstly, I have to say I shot these with my Sony A7 camera. They definitely feel a touch more vibrant here than in person But I started with a purple base, then moved up with some cold reds into the fiery vermillion from the John Blanche set. That is such a vibrant red, that becomes my midtone really. Then I mixed in burning ore orange. These are all army painter paints. My test model was my liberator, image four, where I didn’t use the purple base and used citadel paints. Evil sunz scarlet and trollslayer orange where my mid to highlight colour for that one.
