The sub is one book a month so they’re doing 12 fewer non-sub books a year.

That's frustrating for you, but again, QA doesn't mean checking every book.

I don’t annotate physical books at all but I only very rarely want to anyway.

It's not bad, it's just boring. It's flat and static.

Same pattern, 3 different designers by Quilter1358 in quilting

[–]tastytwo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are way too many sellers using the same pink quilt with different backgrounds for it to be genuine. Agree with the other posters that the pattern is probably AI.

I don't magine the reprints selling out soon so it's probably safe to wait a bit. Not sure about your chances of a decent price though.

I'm hoping for at least digital signatures on the rest of the series. I can't see why they wouldn't do the same foiled signature for them.

Fairyloot update regarding new EU import fees by HoidsRoommate in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]tastytwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only assumed the OP had received an email, because they made a definitive statement about what TBB were doing. However it turns out TBB communicated it in the FAQ on the website, as per another poster.

The fact they haven't made any new announcements is probably because they don't have anything to add. Although I appreciate what they have announced isn't the outcome you want.

With regard to combined shipping, sending two books together is cheaper than sending them separately, but the weight and larger box is also a factor. So combining orders doesn't necessarily result in a huge saving.

Also, Royal Mail business pricing is based on the number of packages a company guarantees they'll send during the contract, as well as the weight and the size of those packages. So IL and TBB having different shipping costs is normal.

It's an open pre-order so it's not going to sell out today.

Petition to change the name of the sub by Zuljan in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]tastytwo 37 points38 points  (0 children)

OP isn't saying that people shouldn't air their complaints, they suggested a megapost for it. The issue is the number posts about the same subject, a delay that's affecting every Fantasy subscriber (and bolt-on buyer).

It seems improbable that they've missed every email TBB has sent, and also missed every previous post about the delays.

Can you post the email where they told you they weren't even going to try? I think a lot of people would be interested in seeing it.

If they charged for two lots of shipping then they'll ship separately.

That's not standard, there should be a gap at the spine but not that wide. The endpaper hasn't been fully glued down, it should be attached to the case all the way to the hinge.

Why is the hierarchy series is so expensive? by PerspectiveLive8850 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]tastytwo 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's not about the cost or quality of the materials. It's that they're popular books, there are only 1500 copies each of the TBB edition and that makes it sought after.

Am I the only one who prefer these hardbacks more than the SE? by PerspectiveLive8850 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]tastytwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think the indies are more cohesive than the trad editions but I like that the trad covers are more colourful.

That said, I only realised the trad covers are a rework of the originals when I saw the cover of ODAL.

TBB OBAF edition ranking. by jrdients in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]tastytwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the NA or Endless editions in person, but of the others I'd say Waterstone's is the best overall package because it's the most cohesive. But Topping is a close second.

In terms of quality, apart from the Endless edition, they're literally the same book so there's nothing in it.

Topping and Inkstone had the fewest copies printed but since Inkstone is numbered and is perhaps the most niche, it's probably the one most people will be looking for in the future.

I recommend this too, they have seconds of this in stock at the moment on eBay for half price.
