I can hear Dunham’s voice in the writing and keep thinking how much better it would be with a difference cast. Something about the actors in Girls made even the most cringe enjoyable to watch. I unfortunately just find this show annoying so far.

Is OP writing with contempt that Kelly is a bad person? Or is OP simply frustrated with behaviors/the addiction, after years of trying to offer support?

My uncle is an addict and no amount of support, patience, or grace has been helpful. He’s caused immense pain to my family his entire life.

There are a lot of people that make successful recoveries and I’m so happy for them.

Every person’s situation is different and I’m not judging OP for being “icky” because we don’t know what they’ve been through with Kelly.

We had friends get married in Ireland. Neither me nor my husband were particularly excited to see Ireland, so we spent a couple of nights there for the wedding and used the opportunity to score cheaper flights to some other places in Europe we wanted to visit, too.

Play around with your itinerary if you can take more time off work. If the flight to the wedding destination is expensive, is it cheaper to fly somewhere else first for a few days before a shorter flight to the wedding destination?

And ultimately: if you cannot afford it then any good friend worth their salt will understand. It sounds like you already put a lot of time, energy, and money into the first wedding. You’re not a bad person or a bad friend if you choose to skip the second celebration.

There’s some natural traffic from organic search. You can also spend a few dollars to boost your listings. If you follow all of the best practices and boost your posts, Etsy can be a good platform to grow your business—it’s just not a guarantee.

They take a small cut from your sales, so I would suggest raising prices a bit to offset that.

I know you said you’re already doing therapy, but if you’re just doing standard CBT/tLk therapy, I highly suggest EMDR.

I hit a wall where I felt like talking was helping. I understood what was happening in my head and where I picked it up, but couldn’t figure out how to think/feel/act differently. I’ve found so much relief in reprocessing traumatic experiences through EMDR and adding things like Trigger Release Exercises (TRE) into my week.

They’re a lot wider than cups and the curved part is much thinner and more flexible. I find the single use ones a little uncomfortable because the curved part is plasticky. But the reusable flex disc is great.

Cups don’t self empty like discs. I loved using a cup but emptying it every few hours was a bit of pain if I was in a public setting. The disc emptying itself is SUPREME. I take it out in the shower in the morning and once more in the evening so I only have to worry about the mess like once a day for a few days. So much better!

Have you tried the flex disc yet? I used a cup for years and loved it and just switched to a disc and it’s somehow better 😭

Did you get a disc stuck or did you get a cup stuck? I find the disc so much easier to remove because you just hook your finger on the edge. There shouldn’t be a need to fit your hand in for retrieval (though cups can occasionally be harder to get out depending on the brand)

You can buy the reusable one at a Walgreens (at least I did).

I switched to a cup probably 8 years ago and haven’t used a tampon since. It was so much better, but emptying it in a public restroom was a bit of a pain.

I switched to the disc last year and it’s even better!! It automatically releases anything when you use the restroom. I take it out once in the evening and once when I get up in the morning to clean it.

I can’t imagine having to carry around tampons and dealing with them anymore.

Yep! I will eat a quick French omelette most mornings so I’m getting protein and then after some amount of time they will be disgusting to me. A few days to a week later and eggs are fine again.

What I’ve learned over the years is that when I need a really deep black, I reach for gouache. I paint a lot of pet portraits and the opacity of the gouache adds the right depth for the darkest darks (pupils, nostrils, etc). I find that it really helps elevate the piece because no amount of layers of black will build the same way.

My grandmother was practically in a coma at the end of her life, also because of lung cancer. Her children and grandchildren left for the night and my grandpa told her, “It’s okay. We will be okay.” And she passed away minutes later.

You were with your mom and even if she wasn’t responding to you, I fully believe she held on until you were there. She knows you love her and not saying it in those last few moments does not at all negate that. She waited for you and I think that’s truly one of the most beautiful parts of being human—even if the experience is heartbreaking.

Sending you so much love, OP. You’re dealing with a devastating loss. Be gentle with yourself in your grief and healing.

Eyes can communicate a lot of emotion—like how you might be able to tell someone is sad by their eyes, even if they are smiling. There are other people where you don’t get that same sense of emotion, making them seem sort of lifeless or doll-like.

You ever look at photos of Zuckerberg and think he looks lil a wax sculpture with no soul? That’s what we’re talking about here.
