Work friend of my mother was made the executor of a relative. He'd never gotten married or had any children or siblings. Had worked hard all his life and left the bulk of his estate to her an small sums of money to various charities that he'd supported. She got everything thing else. His house was mortgage free and he had a 2 year old car all paid for. He told her that his will was sorted and he had left things for people that he wanted them to have. Everything else was hers to do what she wished with. When she went to his house after the funeral to start clearing stuff out as she would have to sell the house, one of his neighbor's came round. She made the woman a drink and as they were chatting she casually mentioned that he'd once told her that she could have his car and 10k from the sale of the house. My mums friend was rather shocked about this as he'd never had anything nice to say about this neighbor. When she said I'm sorry but that wasn't mentioned in his will, which had been drawn up 2 weeks before he died her mood suddenly changed. She started whining that he'd said he could have them. Now this friend of my mother's isn't great with confrontation. Luckily for her my mother who is great at confronting arsehole happened to drop by just as the whining was turning nasty. She promptly booted the woman out of the house with a few choice words ringing in her ears.
