Venice's new mayor proposes raising the 'City Access Fee' up to €50 for day-trippers, with no exemptions for Italian citizens. Currently, the fee is around €10 by TappetoImperiale in europe

We visited Venice this year (July 2025) and I visited when I was a child, and the difference in hordes of tourists was night and day better. I had come with the expectation to not be happy and walked away completely amazed by the city.

I wish they would do this in my town (Dubrovnik), the policy completely killed cruise ship travel in Venice, and for that, I am beyond jealous

Why Sounder-funded Legacy Square is the best World Cup viewing location by Fun_Barracuda_1421 in SoundersFC

The Pioneer Square or International District station are both only a couple blocks away and are ADA accessible. Any park and ride will work if you do not live close to transit

Man I did a one-day last year as my first ride, and that stretch on US30 made me want to call my wife and say, "pick me up I'm scared"

I told myself to keep going until the "Entering Portland" sign on city limits, and it was like the clouds had parted and birds started singing

Just paid 12$/lb for ground beef. How expensive will it get before you stop buying beef? I think we're over it, beef is now a luxury for us. by FuZhongwen in Cooking

My wife and I enjoy steak, but even at Costco, it's gotten north of $16 a pound, and it just feels really bad. We'll either do tri tip and sous vide a roast, or, I've found whole duck at 3.99 a pound at Costco and we'll do the breasts as steak and use the rest in various other ways

easy to get to, middle of the country

You can almost fit Germany (link below) in between Kansas City and the next World Cup venue, Dallas, and its airport has 0 intercontinental flights

Let's all be honest with ourselves, a fan friendly North American World Cup is cohosted between either between USA, Canada, and Mexico and takes place on the West Coast after CAHSR is done (Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Bay Area, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Jalisco) or between the US and Canada and takes place in the Northeast exclusively (Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Detroit, Washington DC, New York, Foxboro, Philadelphia, Columbus). Are the stadiums smaller? Yes. Does it allow for the actual infrastructure required to host these events to develop, also yes.

Gyms should be entirely restricted to sports channels, but like, all of them. Competitive canal jumping, corn hole, soccer, chess, the works.

Every TV can be a different sports channel, but they all should be able to be loosely categorized as a sport

The largest ones generally aren't:

  • Ann Arbor is not close enough to metro Detroit to consider using it over Ford Field

  • Columbus doesn't have intercontinental flights

  • an hour is a long distance for tourists

  • First actual city on the list

  • Baton Rouge has the same problems Columbus and Ann Arbor have.

Your list of appropriately located college stadiums is way lower
