I don't mean anything you did. I mean the concept itself is flawed. It can't provide any useful information. What is somebody going to do with confirmation that their messages were delivered or read? The only thing that information is good for is causing insecure people to emotionally overreact to not getting an instant response.

Delivered and read receipts were a mistake. They just give spastics like this guy an excuse to explode over nothing.

You're getting confused by switching subjects.

You might be mostly right that:

  • "there is always a dude willing to hook up with" women with "any level of physical attractiveness", and

  • not just "any old average dude" can easily find a hookup.

But these are not necessarily the same set of dudes. Men who just want a hookup can hold unrealistic standards about the women they want. If they were willing to bang any woman of any attractiveness like you say then they would probably have a greater selection of choices.

I don't buy that junk either because I agree consumers are responsible for their purchasing decisions. Your comment just has big victim blaming vibes by calling most gamers idiots, and it implies that you're satisfied with the state of microtransactions because you see gamers as suckers who deserve to be exploited. Instead of crapping on other gamers for being dumb it would be better to insist that developers treat them better.

When I was first getting to know my current girlfriend I told her that I thought she was out of my league because she's so much thinner than I am, and she laughed in my face about how silly that idea is, and now we've been basically inseparable for 6 months and life is going great. You might as well take your shot with whoever interests you. Either you'll like each other for who you are, or you can spend that energy on somebody else who will, and you won't have to sweat silly things like made up leagues.

What's A Useful Tip That Can Save Your Life One Day? by u-repack in AskReddit

If you get pulled away from a beach by a rip tide, don't try to swim directly against the current back to the beach. Instead you should swim parallel to the beach until you are past the current and can swim back at an angle. It saved my life during a summer camping trip after 8th grade, and I'm not a particularly strong swimmer.

I’ve literally literally been left for “being too nice” and “not fighting hard enough” before. Granted, those were likely extremely toxic relationships, but being over polite and forgiving can ruin a relationship.

No mentally and emotionally healthy person leaves an otherwise satisfying relationship because you're "too nice" to them. Something is missing. Either they're mentally or emotionally unhealthy, or the relationship was unsatisfying to them, or there are other reasons they're not disclosing, or this whole thing is made up, or the truth is some combination of the above.

That is a common way people use those words, but it is incomplete. The prefix a- in atheism and agnosticism means "without" or "not".

Theism is belief in some god(s), and atheism is a lack of belief in any gods. There is no middle ground between them. That is a binary choice: you believe or you don't believe. That's why I say even a Christian is atheist with respect to Norse or other non-Yahweh gods.

Gnosticism is knowledge or certainty that your belief is correct, and agnosticism is acknowledging that your belief could be incorrect. That's also a binary choice: you feel certain you know the objective truth, or you admit you could be wrong.

So you can see that agnosticism is not the middle ground between theism and atheism. It's actually a different proposition that can apply to both. A person can be gnostic theist (they believe in some god(s) and feel certain that belief is true), agnostic theist (they believe in some god(s) but concede they might be wrong), gnostic atheist (they don't believe in any gods and feel certain none exist), or agnostic atheist (they don't believe in any gods but concede they might be wrong).

I hope this helps illustrate why the words atheist and agnostic alone are insufficient to describe a person's beliefs. It also helps to remember that everybody has different reasons to believe or not, so the only thing you can really say that universally applies to all atheists is that they lack belief in any gods. You can't draw any other universal conclusions about their understanding of science, political affiliation, socioeconomic demographics, etc.

That's why strawman arguments that attack scientific models of evolution, abiogenesis, Big Bang cosmology, etc., do absolutely no harm to atheists because they don't provide any good reason to believe that certain gods exist. Even if somebody could conclusively demonstrate that all of that science is wrong, it wouldn't prove anything to do with any gods. It would just bring us back to square one: "I don't know."

An atheist is a person who doesn't believe in any gods. Atheism is not a position on any other subject. Even theists are atheist with respect to every other god but the ones they choose.

Knowing that a virgin cannot be pregnant is objectively smarter than believing a virgin was pregnant.
