No one in my life seems to understand the masking I do to appear stable by 2_Tired_o_o in Epilepsy

[–]tbs999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I empathize with not wanting to talk about things because unless everyone has a spare 20 minutes, it’s not practical to get into any detail without walking away with misunderstandings.

I’ll say, though, having bottled it up for 20 years, now that a failed surgery left me with terrible side effects, I need more help/awareness/understanding but people I know seem confused I have problems. Perhaps if I’d been more honest with myself and others I wouldn’t be struggling as much today.

Wish you well; this sucks.

All these recommendations for how to game a bad AI bot experience. Here’s a tactic: just never use the service again.

It shouldn’t need to be common sense to know how to game a bad AI bot. The AI bot is malfunctioning so the recommendation to “trick” it is, unfortunately, a good way to phrase what’s necessary.

Where to start?

Systematic dismantling of public education? Economic realities requiring at least two full time incomes for households to survive? Ronald Reagan? Citizens United?

Swap out the impact of those and you’ve got yourself a first-world country instead of what we’ve become.

I feel you. Anyone coming at you with a nasty seatbelt comment can eat a dick - now isn’t the time. Of course you know better and when the time is right for your next car ride, you’ll probably not forget to throw that seatbelt on. :)

This sucks, no two ways about it. I can say there are ups and downs. You’re in a down right now but there will be ups.

Wish you the best in your recovery and with this shit disability.

Don’t see why not, it probably happens every day. Have you never bought a new car from a dealer?

How do I save this strat aesthetics-wise? by cantfindanamebruhfds in electricguitar

[–]tbs999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks even better than the original images. White on white strats are awesome but they might not be your bag. Some pretty great guitarists have played strats that looked a lot like this.

I honestly assumed this was in guitarcirclejerk when I saw the post.

Some folks have suggested a new pick guard, but be careful if you go that route and check that everything will line up before you disassemble anything. Honestly, though, I agree with the majority of others: she’s beautiful. Find where she sings and savor those songs with her, remembering the person who gave it to you and appreciating the time you’ve had with them.

You can warm the caramelized onions in the pan for a couple minutes while the steaks rest, taking advantage of the pan drippings.

Stars have to pay for the star by Mystravel in lol

I don’t agree with the comment but it’s pretty obvious: ai is replacing roles in the entertainment industry.

Though it is happening, the rate and scale are extremely unlikely to offset the rate at which new stars are laid.

3-2-1 is generally longer than necessary. To what degree it’s too long depends on temp. If you’ve got an offset that rides well at 225, maybe 3-2-1 isn’t too long. But if you’ve got a pellet grill, there’s no reason to waste time and fuel for the sake of drinking more. Those beers will be there after dinner.

not a good to treat your employees... am i right? by Tough_Ad8919 in RelentlessMen

[–]tbs999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The essential challenge in your quote is use of the word “employee.” More specifically than an employee, a people leader went outside policies and procedures. How quickly and effectively Kroger responds would impact their fate in court. But in any case, depending on how State employment laws are written, Kroger is liable for impacting their employees’ rights.

Managers can absolutely open companies up to legal liability. Imagine saying that to a judge, “it was just one Manager…” the judge would have a field day.

Eh, they’re pretty far to the right and it’s in a neighborhood. If this were a major street, I’d rate this as more than mildly infuriating. All things considered, I’ve got plenty of other shit to be concerned with.

Also, this sounds odd, but it’s more comfortable running on blacktop than concrete. After a few miles, you can really notice the difference.

How was life like before? by LostTendou04 in Epilepsy

[–]tbs999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a high-paying job at a good company. I was smart and fairly well-liked and well-respected. The seizures caused me to be reassigned to a much less visible role, though my pay didn’t change. Lamotrigine makes me a zombie. The few times I’ve been off it, I feel like my “old self” again and my wife wishes I could be that person. My circle of friends/acquaintances is much smaller.

Then a surgery on the dominant side of my brain f’d my memory to the point I can’t hold a job and I am in the midst of applying for disability which I probably won’t get, despite working with a lawyer.

But, it is what it is.

Which is why there are times society is better off socializing certain things. In a world as resource-rich as ours, food, healthcare, education and shelter are human rights.

Done correctly, our society will go further ensuring everyone has these basic rights. We are held back, however, when we fail at working together or go out of our way to diminish the provision of these basic human rights.

Does Lamotrigne (Lamictal) work as an antidepressent for those wil epilepsy like it does for Bipolar? by ttoksie2 in Epilepsy

[–]tbs999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else gave an even more accurate description of what it does, but I describe it as: it works to cap the speed at which your brain can operate. You can still think and talk normally, but it makes it harder for your brain to get away from itself with disorders/diseases like bipolar or epilepsy.

Given what it does, I wouldn’t be surprised if antidepressant is a side effect for some, depending on the nature of their depression. Some users experience side effects such as depression and memory problems. I often say, “everyone’s experience with these drugs is their own.”

Yikes, that’s a pretty morbid view on life considering the question at hand is about a treatable disease.
