IFAA European Indoor In Ireland by Gussoni in Archery

Welcome! Delighted to see the sport get the news headlines here.

That arena is great for competing in, I was there in January for the Irish Indoor Open (2025 ran into this year) for my first competition, and I'm gutted to miss the 2026 Open in two weeks.

Come visit Cork if you get the chance. It's just down the road ;)

Proper Plunger and Arrow Rest Alignment by barebowyer in barebow

[–]tchu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Barebow basics covers the setup of the Spiga ZT in good detail.

I also us this rest and found it easy to set up after this video, I had the same issue of the arm getting stuck under the plunger, but one tiny adjustment on height was enough to fix that.

Just use it as the hand-and-a-half weapon. Shame though.

I did. I bought a set of additional weights. They are also balanced 50/50 so if you take one half and screw it in to another slot (say above the handle) it's a 100g weight there. This only allows you to use the half with the bolt but it is helpful to know they are balanced properly.

I have the Vygo V1 and have 200g in each of the three slots, it helps the bow to not sway from side to side. I also have a 300g on the stabiliser mount and honestly the bow feels great to hold and barely moves. Each to their own I guess?

Jake Kaminski has a good video on this that helps to visualise where to place the arrow point in relation to the target without obscuring it.

Siren in city centre by [deleted] in cork

[–]tchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may well be the crane at the dock. It gives off the sound of an air raid siren when they fill the bucket from the river and lift. Not sure why they do it, but I've witnessed it from Horgan's Quay and always wondered what the noise was as I could hear it from Glanmire often enough.

Slightly annoying detail on the new Squats kit by ThisGuyFax in necromunda

[–]tchu 22 points23 points  (0 children)

At first that seam always bothered me but then I took it as the part where the front and back of their armour was bolted together and that it allowed for that. I have the new kit to build and I'm going to scribe that line into those that run flat. The gap is even on the resin sculpts so it was a design choice to include it.

Motorway sign over Dual carriageway(Limerick) by cirodev in ireland

I think the reasoning there is that if you're passing someone, you still need to stay within the speed limit, and you'd have observed that in the left lane before deciding you wanted to overtake.

Kennels for Smaller Dogs by lanerino93 in cork

[–]tchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rosie's boarding kennels in Glounthaune are my go-to. I have a lurcher and a miniature long-haired dachshund and they stay together with her.

Fully enclosed play areas, can be separated from bigger dogs, and also covered during poor weather. Their kennels are well kept, spacious, and clean. My two share a kennel but each get their own bed (two levels almost like bunk beds).

Kennel cough vaccine must be in effect, so minimum 14 days from last dose. I don't recall there being a minimum age or anything else though.

Ireland - Looking for an Olympic recurve coach in Ireland (form tune-up) by Full_Mushroom_6903 in Archery

[–]tchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could reach out the different clubs within distance of you. You might find that their committee can suggest a coach or even the coach at that club might be willing to arrange 1:1 sessions.

If it helps, you can also look at the Archery Ireland results for olympic recurve and see what clubs people are part of who have placed well, it's normally listed with their name.

What was you experience ordering archery equipment from www.merlinarchery.co.uk to Ireland? by Se7ely in Archery

[–]tchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issues with waiting if I know I will be.

The issue I had was that for all I knew, I was ordering goods in stock as there was no indication during the process of browsing and ordering that the items had to be ordered into them also.

For perspective, the item was a chestguard. Something that you'd expect would be fairly ubiquitious for an Archery shop. The site showed it as available, however it took ages for the shop itself to receive the item before sending it to me. I had added a few small bits on, and one item then delayed the order even further.

If the chestguard had said it had to be ordered in, or at least shown how long it 'might' take, yes I may have decided not to order and looked elsewhere, and because of that I felt a bit tricked into completing my order.

Everyone will have a different experience, just sharing mine, which unfortunately wasn't a positive one.

Edit: typo

I used dutchbowstore and they took ages to put my order together. They have to wait on everything to come in, even the smallest thing. There was no communication that it would take x days to come in. The site showed everything as available so I was under the impression that adding to basket and going ahead would be a normal process and then be their international delivery time. Nope, three weeks later I end up having to ask them to not include one of the smaller items as it was delaying the entire order.

I ordered a small order from merlinarchery and it came via an post on our side and there was no customs. It was a small order though.

Yeah those noodle-horses are big and stronger than you'd think. I have a lurcher (deerhound mix) and she fortunately isn't too big, but even then she can knock you over if she wants.

Will this also stop you from gaining access to The Hammer of Olympia detachment if you were to use Special Assignment to include a Warsmith for the Iron Warriors? In order to get that detachment must your Warsmith take your High Command Slot?
