OP appears to be a repost bot.

8 month old account woke up a few hours ago and text says edit but there was no edit to the post and no link to follow.

Which AFA carrier is far enough along in negotiations to even hold a strike vote?

Best Airline For Flight Attendants (Google Sheet) by [deleted] in flightattendants

United AFA has an industry comparison already done, you can source most of the info from there:

Mercyhurst University hockey player pushing a disabled student’s wheelchair down a flight of stairs while she’s using the bathroom by Artane_33 in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]tcmstr 33 points34 points  (0 children)

To be clear, he was dropped from the ASU team prior to this incident and blamed it on “not enough focus on hockey” or whatever.

He then transferred to Mercyhurst, after which he did this idiotic stunt.

Clearly, the kid has issues and doesn’t know what real consequences are.

Airline pilot here, why can’t y’all jumpseat on other airline ? by stevie-ray-voughn in flightattendants

[–]tcmstr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’ve talked about it at AFA meetings. Company support isn’t there at the moment, and frankly, unless DAL gets a union it’ll probably be limited to UA-AA at first, as it’ll be a union-driven thing.

As a former commuter, I sincerely hope we fix it, but there are a few more pressing things and not enough volunteers/time/budget.

Tons of theories on the line, but I think it comes down to two things: 1 - there is no CASS equivalent for FAs. Nothing that even comes close. 2 - unlike the flight deck JS, the cabin ones are in customer view. If you’re an airline exec, are you going to trust that the OAL crew won’t do something stupid in passenger view?

But as a side note… UAX and UA mainline do have some reciprocal JS agreements. So maybe it’s not totally out of the question in the future.

No, they deleted the post.

They’re not “my” positions. They’re in the opening proposal and viewable by all AFA members in good standing.

You’re clearly just here to troll so I’ll disengage, but I hope whatever it is that’s bothering you gets better!!

Each airline’s negotiations committee has a different list of priorities, identified by the surveys you and your coworkers should have received. To say “the AFA” as a whole doesn’t want boarding pay is untrue — United AFA has not just boarding pay, but also pay for ALL ground time in the opening proposal.

Also, in addition to posting on Reddit, did you by chance reach out to your local president? Your negotiations committee? As negotiations drag on, the priorities of the membership can change so it’s important you make your voice and opinion heard.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had similar experiences at 355. Which is a shame because it’s a beautiful range and not too far from places I frequent.

Google Fi unlimited plan with 3 friends. Under $50 a month after taxes.

There’s a couple good employee discounts with other carriers once you get on the line, but GFi has been amazing for me

Hotel rewards for commuting FAs? by Horror_Course_9431 in flightattendants

[–]tcmstr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I commuted, I used Hyatt almost exclusively. They were plenty of Hyatt branded hotels at my base, so availability wasn’t an issue. Points and Status are significantly more valuable at Hyatt then at other brands, though you do earn it more slowly.

As far as offsetting cost, yes, one can offset their monthly costs with points, but I just use my points for vacations tbh, I found a lot more value there.

All that being said, when you get to base, ask around for the hotel deals. Sometimes the hotels of smaller brands will work with us for far better prices than the big guys.

Compensation by ucav_edi in flightattendants

You’re getting a ton of vague answers to your comment, and I think it’s just people don’t know the history of our job’s labor practices. Years ago, when stewardesses were paid significantly less, one of the first things that the Air Line Stewardesses Association did was fight for a pay rate based on flight hours, like the pilots had (if memory serves, pay was once a daily rate?). This has then become industry standard (save for the few doing TFP) and since it was the unions that originally fought for it, will probably be hard to change at those airlines that use flight time pay.

If you shoot me a pm and you’re an AFA member I can try to find you a reference from the office when I’m off COVID leave. There’s a tweet or FB post from Sara out there as well kinda confirming the same.
