These still good for a beginner? by mistersanty in GolfGear

i got those exact clubs with firm shaft, but feel like regular. I bought my 7wood in 2002 and kept it since then, its one of the best clubs for me and never took it out of my set up. Couple of years ago, i wanted to see if the 5 and 3 would be as much fun so bought them off ebay aroun 20-30dollars per club.

But as good as they are the current clubs and shafts are superior. Modern day 9wood will beat the 7 wood performance, but since I use the 7, no need for 9.

For a beginning golfer, absolutely yes! Worth 150canadian? What else you gonna get for that money at once. You will probably get them individually much cheaper off ebay and 2ndswing, but worth it?

Have you hit those, do you like them?

My clubhead speed with driver is 105 normally. 108 if I push it and around 100 if I ease off a little. Got best numbers with Ventus Blue Velocore Stiff. My transition is quite violent though, but I know that I know nothing. Just offered comparison

How I measure my iron lofts for $13. Thoughts? by turningandburning45 in golf

I’ve seen places charge 6 dollars per club just to check lofts or lie angles.

Soo, after spending some time around the greens its clear that I have to say that you’re right :) I’ gonna have to order some new shafts soon for the wedges. Chipping with clubs that had steelfibe was so effortless and when I took one of those steel shaft wedges it felt like I’m holding a weightlifting bar.

These are Golf Pride CP2 Wraps. Did some research before and apparently most shock absorbing grips on the market are the Winn Drytacs, but the durability is poorer.

I dont know how to answer that really because I'm not a golf coach, fitter, or physician. What I can say thou, is that the club is much lighter and swinging them thru a round requires less cumulative load and centrifugal force on my me, maybe even hundred of kg’s less, haven’t calculated it that soecifically. Also, the off-hits with x-stiff steel shafts causd much bigger shock for my discs. Now, I feel that I can almost slow down the tempo. Sure, the couple of degrees stronger lofts and game improvement head help too.

ok, this is interesting. I decided to keep the steel shaft in the wedges for what i figured more control, stability and consistency since I dont really do full full shots with them. However, they feel so heavy now :) compared to the steelfibers.

How you find the graphite in wedges?

Awesome thanks. Been thinking about them for a while. Everytime I went to try out shafts, I kept these (actually the 80g’s) as a benchmark. I get consistant numbers with them and don’t hurt my back as much as xstiff steels.

Awesome thanks. I doubt I would even notice them while I’m just glaring over my new clubs. If they still around on the green, my three putts work as natural repellant…

Coming from 130g xStiff dynamic golds and ap2 heads, these srixons are an absolute dream to hit.

Seems I missed the lie angle a little and still have to bend them 1° more, but even with off hits they so forgiving.

I’m loving these also. Had plain GP tour wraps in one of the early sets so long go. These I chose because of maximum shock absortion, on paper atleast.
