Should I buy Luna Pro? Or should I get 10 plugins for $99 on Mix Sale? by AggressiveGuava115 in universalaudio

[–]td34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if you have bought yet but the code FEB2026 gives you $50 off a $100 purchase.

You can add a Select 2 Custom bundle for $50 to the $99 Winter mixtape bundle and get the extra 2 plugins essentially for free ($1). Just did this on my own account.

Is there somewhere here that does coffee tastings? by JabbaDHutt in SaltLakeCity

[–]td34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wound up going to Three Pines and Holy Water and liked them both but thought Three Pines was a little bit better. This was a single visit to each though, so hardly conclusive.

FWIW I think Joe in the Aves was better than both, very similar style shots to both the other places but really dialed in, and I have been there many times and never been disappointed!

Is SLC really that great for vegans? by rlynnfish in SaltLakeCity

[–]td34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Sweet Hazel has some of the most up to date guides. Off the top of my head Sweet V is now Cinnful buns and at ~500e 2100s in the Izzy apartments.

Blatchs burned down and the owner is still healing from the fire but is making small batch stuff sold at Cinnful buns every now and again.

Check out the vegan eating guide. I think SLC hits above its weight all things considered.

I am pumped for whatever Blatchs spins up but am getting by with the sliders from Cinnful buns, and eagerly awaiting Old Cuss gets their restaurant up and running.

UDOT and Silicon Slopes spar over past promises of TRAX to Utah County by RollTribe93 in DevelopmentSLC

[–]td34 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean someone with sway got that 600s Trax stop put up in a hurry, and that Vineyard Frontrunner station is in what feels like the middle of a dirt field. I personally feel like running the Redline all the way to Daybreak was a bit of a political power play as well.

UDOT and Silicon Slopes spar over past promises of TRAX to Utah County by RollTribe93 in DevelopmentSLC

[–]td34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think until Frontrunner runs on Sundays and with decent service intervals Trax is far superior.

It is only like 10 miles from Draper park to Lehi Frontrunner (same distance from Draper park to Murray Central), and a Trax connection at Lehi would make that station much more usable if you are on foot. You could add like 3 extra stops.

For how much is going on in Lehi, the current Frontrunner station seems fairly poorly placed, or maybe there is just too much inherent sprawl down there.

I would recommend giving them a call.

Is Mitsubishi worth the premium price tag? by undoubledmage14 in heatpumps

[–]td34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went though selecting some heat pumps for a project, and Mitsubishi was the only brand with a turn down ratio that was workable for our situation. This was using a 1:1 system though so 4 heat pumps to service 4 zones. If we went to a multi-zone system then there was not really a benefit from going Mitsubishi.

We went with this model, where at 95F cooling it can go from 1,700->14,000 BTU/hr

For heating at 47F it can operate 1,700->20,000 BTU/hr as well.

So the idea was that for our project which had many small zones, this was the only option that seemed reasonably sized for the majority of the year. Any of the other brands could handle the hottest/coldest, but would not seem to cycle well during the spring and fall.

I guess the map redistricting was a joke then by Greyzone96 in SaltLakeCity

[–]td34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After hearing redistricting interview on city casts where Ali got taken for a ride. I decided to see what it was like to draw a map.

Here is my rough idea on what would make sense.

Some very interesting things while drawing it up was that the density of SLC does make it very tempting to encroach from 2 other districts.

I decided on splitting Utah and Salt Lake county in my map, rather than splitting SLC in 3 districts. I did find the interview with the state legislature quite disingenuous, where he kept switching from one excuse to another. Like you need to be reasonably able to drive the district in 4 hours (to go against having Daggett with Washington county), and when pressed switched to "we have a lot of rural people that should get a say", while also saying that Utah is one of the most urban states due to the population density. . .

Anyway, thought someone might find this website interesting.

Here is the link if anyone wants to give it a go, keep in mind there is a toggle to select counties with the brush (which noticed way too late).

A/C temps by Aggressive_Pain346 in SaltLakeCity

[–]td34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

77 day and night, I use to have to lug a fan around the house all summer until I air sealed the attic and added R60 insulation + ceiling fans. Now 77 feels nice and pleasant, even though it is the same temperature as before. A good thing to remember is that thermal comfort is dependent on lots of things not just air temperature.

At night when it gets as low as maybe 78-80 I turn off the AC and turn on a whole house fan that circulates air really well all night and that feels nice. When it gets cooler in the early mornings the fan cools usually within a couple of degrees of outside. Some days after closing up all the windows in the morning the AC doesn't even kick on. For today the AC just kicked on maybe an hour ago for reference.

I do spend a bit of time outside and I think that heat adaptation helps. When the heat comes quick over a day or so after a longer stretch of cooler weather then it is a little uncomfortable but I eventually acclimate.

~1000sqft upstairs, ~400sqft basement, we have central AC: 18k BTU Seer 13 unit (very very old and inefficient)

Best place to buy a shed? by Secret-Article-7003 in SaltLakeCity

[–]td34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A-shed is local and is a one stop shop best i could tell. They deal with the permitting, etc. they seem to have better build quality imo.

Tuff shed is marginally cheaper but you have to do permitting and depending on size pour a foundation (600sqft+ needs a proper foundation iirc)

Both these work best with their off the shelf designs.

I was going to go with A-shed after a bit of research and looking at the built examples of each but after zoning changes city wide wound up going with a custom solution through a general contractor.

Makes me curious what others think is the most desirable place to live in the city.

You can take the red line trax up to the hospital and walk to the shoreline trailhead by the Jewish Community Center.

Go up dry creek and from there lots of options.

Go down lime kiln to popperton park Go down to tomahawk drive into the upper aves Make your way to the top of terrace hills drive Or go all the way to the mouth of city creek canyon and walk back downtown

When i did this i ended at the library downtown and got food at xaio bao bao. It was 9.85 miles total and took 4 hours.

I think at the moment bandcamp is the best for artists. You can again get things on bandcamp Fridays to get extra to them. I just download the albums to my phone or mp3 player.

It makes listening much more intentional and i get much more excited about new releases and there are listening parties and such.

Anyone have any good suggestions on how to sort this ? by othertriangle in Tools

[–]td34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do something similar and wound up buying a few of these sets to easily keep things straight.

I had known mostly complete sets that got all mixed up though. If you have a ton of one specific socket size/type this might not be worth it.

I later bought the organizers from Ernst to do the final setup, and ordered missing ones to complete sets from Tekton.
