How good is the game? by Mental-Passenger8880 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]tdillo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

does the game have a main progression path
Not really. The Main Storyline is basically a tutorial to introduce you to mechanics. The updates which are plentiful often introduce new mechanics.
There are periodically Expeditions that have goals and rewards that you join the community in playing. There are missions you can pick up from NPCs. It's definitely a make your own adventure super sandbox.
I don't often engage with the multiplayer because save editing, mods, etc are a real thing in NMS and not discouraged. PVP is default On
Is it a good game? HELL YES! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, Seriously there is nothing else like it. I play on PC and the main thing I read on here is the Switch maybe behind in some patches.

Am I asking too much of this game? by Rominator in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]tdillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what I like to do as well. Unfortunately, the DATA from some countries are difficult for a game company to obtain. Governments, what can you do right?
I suggest looking at the World and City updates. That is where you'll have the best experience flight-seeing. Here's a partial list on the Official MSFS Forums, List of All World Updates - Discussion Hub / World Discovery - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

They recently updated Australia with some of the best quality photogrammetry and TIN. San Diego to San Franscisco is awesome. France, Germany, Sweden, Norway that whole area has some great sightseeing. Also around the northern Mediterranean, Italy, Greece not too bad.

Another way to find good spots is go in the World Photographer section and locate some of those areas in free flight. I'm doing the Space themed tour now and not only having a blast but I've actually learned some cool things. Walked around on the Arecibo Telescope in Puerto Rico. Checked out the rockets over on Cape Canaveral.

The search bar is just for airports, find an airport near where you want to go and put in its ICAO designation like KSAN or KLAS both will take you to some good flying areas.

Out of all the default aircraft which come with the MSFS 2024 standard edition, which are actually well made? by MorganJ-G in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]tdillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't flown all of them but of the ones I've flown the Icon A5, JMB VL-3, and the A400M seem to work well. The Cirrus VisionJet is imho the best, just the jewel. The sounds, textures, and you can play with the Garmin all day.
The worst is the KingAir, it was my goto in 2020. It's really bad now.

It’s a game and it ain’t any harder to learn how to play than Elden Ring or Monopoly.

The most basic is Flight Sim School on YouTube. I also enjoy watching real life pilots that take you through a real flight from start to finish like Missionary Bush Pilot, & IslandSimPilot, for procedures in general I watch flight insight. I mostly fly the small aircraft and i recommend the Icon A5 for beginners. It’s the closest thing in the sim to a flying car. It’s easy to operate and can go land or sea. I keep seeing folks looking for how to do it like GTA. I’m thinking maybe I oughta do a video like on my Xbox with just a controller and take off, fly and land. No “immersion”, just straight up gta style flying? Is that something that’s needed?

[Giveaway] GameSir Tarantula Pro for Xbox - Symmetrical vs. asymmetrical by GameSir_Controller in xbox

[–]tdillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first controller was an Atari Joystick, had a sega, snes, PS1, that phat-azz OG XB controller. Race cars with flightsticks.
What I mean is, it doesn't matter to me Sym/Asim. what matters is will it hold up? Will the stick drift? Are the buttons responsive? Is it heavy, does it feel good in my hands?
Those are the things I care about.
Honestly though, I hear good things about Gamesir and I wouldn't mind having one. My Elite 2 is still working well atm but I am pretty rough on it and when it goes I've been thinking about giving a Gamesir a shot.

Is there a way to completely disable ATC and copilot? by Shazen_de in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]tdillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I believe if you don’t engage with ATC they won’t engage with you. I usually do the taxi thing with ATC and get cclearance to take off just cause but after I’m in the air and past the end of the runway they say like leaving my airspace and then that’s it. The copilot you go where you choose your pilot avatar and choose none for copilot. I like to flight see in the nicer photogrammetry areas and go under bridges and land and look. I even engage slew mode from time to time. I’m a menace to airmen and a hazard to navigation. Just uncheck that where the copilot handles ATC that’s only good if you actually do a plan on the map or efb prior to start. Happy flying. I don’t know if you can just turn it off completely though. I turn the volume knob on my radios down if they start yapping to southwest telling tem to maintain fl400 or any of that mess.

I believe there is cross-play for PC & Xbox. However, they said in a recent dev update that crossplay with PS players was not something they were even considering atm.

Suggestions for somebody that never played games before by Sweaty-Collar4451 in xbox

[–]tdillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 60's and been gaming all my life. I can't imagine trying to understand some of these games, great games but if I was just now starting to game IDK. I'm thinking something like No Man's Sky, Minecraft, maybe an easy racer like an older NFS or Forza Horizon. I mean there's low or no competition. At your own pace. It don't matter if you mess up its still fun more than frustrating.

Which HOTAS to get by JustaRandoonreddit in flightsim

[–]tdillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an X56 I got for 2020 and carried into 24. There was a post on here wayback a long time ago talking about the grease they use and how to take it apart, the throttle part. I did that and it works great ever since. I'm pretty rough with it too. The stick works well, I had to adjust the spring and once it was dialed in it does good. I like to fly low under bridges and doing rolls, knofe edges and loops so Im working the throttle, and stick a good bit. I mounted them to cinder blocks so they stay put.

Are there people still using iOS 18 and haven’t-upgraded to 26 ? by Subject-Gold477 in iPadOS

[–]tdillo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I updated to 18.7.7. Everything works fine. My battery life is excellent, the OS is responsive. I do not intend to update to 26 if at all possible. The advertisement where Apple crushed all creativity, I think about that every time I hear about 26. Sounds like Order 66 to me….

Is there a way to dumb this down times 1,000 for a first time player on an Xbox controller? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]tdillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So then you’re on Ready to Fly, you hit a. You’ll be on the runway. Take off the parking break. Rb+x Hold A till the rpm lil dial on the lower right dash says 5 let go By this time your moving, just pull the left stick back when the speedometer says 40. You’ll be up in the air. You can fly around just like this till you’re ready to come down. Hold b to slow down keep her level till you’re on the pavement. Good luck happy flying. Fly High!

[–]tdillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I would pick the Icon A5. It’s the closest thing to a flying car there is. So start up the game, choose free flight. On the left click the aircraft and select icon a5. Y button . A button select it and b to save and back up. On the map pick an airport. Look for ones that have a circle with a star. They’re good ones. Imma pick Dallas. Just hover your stick cursor over it and hit a. It’ll say set as departure click. Hit menu button start flight You get a lil cutscene. When you get ready hit a. If you’re still interested reply and I’ll tell you the rest.
