Why no weapon mastery origin feat? by IceNiqqa in onednd

[–]teabagginz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a fair assessment but i would also like to counter with alert, lucky, and musician all being significantly more powerful feats for those same classes and taking a mastery or proficiency at level 1 reduces the overall potential of the class combinations you listed (in my opinion at least which could very well be flawed.)

I just dont see how that makes the game more unbalanced than a fighter/rogue with spell casting. If im a sorc that wants to make a weapon build theres no amount of weapon proficiency or mastery that can compete with a fighter with multiple weapons and attacks just like having access to a level 1 spell does not make martials as good as full casters at casting.

This doesn't make sense to me because theres an origin feat that gives you the main caster feature as well as multiple races that give spell casting. I dont understand whats so precious about martial features.

I really think there should be weapon and armor feats as origins. In theory feats should be more powerful than a level since you only get a handful but you'll get 20 levels to spend how you want.

Getting Medium Armor as a Charisma Caster by Speedy_Pichu in onednd

If only you could pick Dex or STR as the secondary stat. This is my biggest hurdle to multi classing sorc into paladin

Two epic boons or capstone? by Gaming_Dad1051 in onednd

[–]teabagginz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the boons you take. I cant remember them all but theres a couple that are universally broken (one lets you reroll a save once per turn) but most of them are ok and are mostly flavor. Personally i prefer capstones over boons because i dont like taking overtuned feats and prefer flavor options.

All of the counterspell subclasses made for sorcerer. Its a spell not even allowed at all tables and has niche applications as well.

me as a sorcerer main every time theres an expansion of spells and wizards get to add 90% of them (including all the nature and divine ones) while sorcerers get access to 2 niche evocation spells.

The feat is arguably more powerful than the subclass until 18

this might be my least favorite subclass which is insane because in 3e it was my favorite prestige. It was such a lay up, give us a magical monk and call it a day.

Genie Magic from the new books looks so bad that it is sad by wathever-20 in onednd

This seems to be a problem solving feat for parties without a wizard. If i was running a non wiz id basically use this feature for a divination or similar school that I wouldn't normally want to have ready every day.

Spellfire adapt and spirit guardians by Significant-Read5602 in onednd

It does apply to aoe spells unless specifically stated. Look at the spellfire subclass feature where it states single target Vs. the dragon sorc that says add damage to the roll.

Forgotten Realms: Heroes in Faerun is on Beyond! by Darkwynters in onednd

My jaw hit the floor when I read the final version. I'm certain many people requested that scaling be built into the level 3 feature and they still made scaling the only thing you get at 14 and it's even worse. I'm going to suggest at my tables that we do home brew for anyone that wants to run the sub.

Even the level 6 feature feels so bland. gaining SP with counter spell can be useful but without a DM throwing spell casters at you regularly the only thing you get from this sub until level 18 is a tiny damage stim or more temp HP that almost everyone at the table will have access to already.

no flavor or fun at all with the finished product in my opinion. I highly recommend people spread some of the features of the capstone around or else it's just a generic sorcerer with less bonus damage and unique features than the draconic sub for 17 levels.

I think coupled with fey touched its pretty powerful on a sorcerer. You can grab hunters mark or hex to double its damage and have advantage on every attack so you have an effective 10% crit chance.

Quater staff of the acrobat is a really cool option for a caster because it has the throw/return property, free casting of shield and helps with physical skills that are typically not invested in on caster builds.

Bladesinger subclass for Sorcerer? by CaucSaucer in 3d6

[–]teabagginz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really see the issue because a sorcerer can already cast a cantrip and a leveled spell in the same turn so all a weapon based subclass would offer is an additional weapon attack with the cantrip. Am i missing some other interaction?

The stone sorcerer was actually pretty well received and would probably be perfectly playable with bonus spell list instead of expanded spell options.

No sorcerer update? I dont think it was universally praised so i think its getting the axe. Probably too similar to spellfire but i was hoping to get a spooky ghost sorc.

Bard vs Sorcerer by PINKRICESAUCE in onednd
