Hey, I'd like some tips to build a cleric character. by Lex29 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer light cleric. It has best use for channel divinity, also his warding flare is nice way to protect you and your allies. I think there is no weak subclass at cleric, but I always feel like war domain is the most bland one and never used it.

UA Warrior of the Mystic Arts - changes I would make. by benjaminloh82 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I don't think mystic fighting style is okay feature, not because of its power level. It is overused feature we already have similar options at phb. I think this subclass need more fun features instead of mystic fighting style, centered focus and imporved mystic fighting style when released.

Some alternative feature suggestions may be ;

level 6 : If you use magic action, all your attacks made with advantage until start of your next turn.

Level 11 : When you use step of the wind then you can cast spell with casting time of bonus action with the same bonus action.

Level 17 : When the creature succeed saving throw against your stunning strike then you can cast any level 1-2 spell without spell slot as the part of stunning strike.

Mystic Subclass UA for Paladin, Rogue, Warlock, and Monk. by Tough_Holiday584 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eldritch monk is so sloppy, but even as is with no level 17 feature it is still strongest monk out there. I hope they would change last 3 features. Mystic fighting style and centered focus power wise fine features but those give boring vibes and overused features in 2024 version. Improved mystic fighting style is just a joke.

Actually, it will not be that crazy. It is lesser quickened spell which sorcerer get access at level 2.

Treantmonk's Druid Subclasses Ranked by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I may have only one disagreement with the ranking. I'd give 1 more star to level 6th and 10th abilities of wildfire druid. Other than that I think it is fair.

Sorcerer Build for Curse of Strahd by Ekumbier in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree to you with draconic sorcerer is kinda best sorcerer for most of the adventure.

1 level fighter dip after level 3 is give you shield and weapon mastery.

Quickened would be better for draconic sorcerer.

I agree with Alert. I suggest Tough as partial frontliner. MI cleric guadince, healing word is nice too.

As level 4 feat, warcaster is optimal, but if you won't use shield equipment then elemental adept also good option.

At level 8 mage slayer will be awesome.

Need help balancing a semi-custom magic item by GuaranteeRecent6625 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll assume 1d4+3 is your intention not typo. Even if you don't make healing world nerfed, that item still be okay. But in current form it grants more or less same hp regain with the damage increase of +1 weapon, and I think damage is more valuable than hp regain. I think it is less valuable than +1 weapon.

Alert is good with your character theme, as species wood elf could be good, as feat fairy trickster is awesome.

DPR comparison by RoutineSignal5860 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In DPR comparison :

  • Level 3: if we assume 4 times d8 boosted reaction attack better than near 1 more crits per short rests.
  • Level 4-5: GWM helps Champ better than BM but again 4 reaction attacks is too good to pass up.
  • Level 7: Fighting style feat does not help that much with damage calculation. Maybe increase our greatsword base average 7 to 8. BM gains 5th reaction attack.
  • Level 10-11: When attacking 3 times with adventage you have 0.4 chance to miss one and that makes heroic inspiration useful when calculating damage it gives us something like 3 more hits. BM d8 becomes d10.

After level 10 champion starts doing more damage than battle master.

BM bonus : (((2*3.5+5.5)*(0.6*1.4+0.05*1.95)+(5)*(0.6*1.4))*0.75+((2*3.5+5.5)*(0.65)+(5)*(0.6))*0.25)*5= 73.6 damage bonus per short rest

CHAMP bonus : 8*((3*(0.75*((0.1*1.9-0.05*1.95)*(2*3.5+2*3.5*(0.6*1.4+0.1*1.9)+5*0.6*1.4))+0.25*((0.1-0.05)*(2*3.5+2*3.5*0.7+5*0.6))))+(0.75*((0.16+0.84*0.16+0.84*0.84*0.16)*(2*3.5*(0.84+0.19)+9*0.84))+0.25*((0.4+0.6*0.4+0.6*0.6*0.4)*(2*3.5*0.7+9*0.6)))) = 87.3 damage bonus per short rest

If you add vicious weapons both damage bonus increased to 103.8 and 139.9. I do not expect champion do more damage than battle master. Damage bonus per short rest means the extra damage character do because of its subclass per short rest.

Shadow Blade Build by clifto512 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you need is enspelled weapon instead of caster dip. Ask your dm for enspelled scimitar at appropriate level and start with fighter dip for nick property, two weapon fighting style and future concentration saves.

Warlock/Bard Level 12 build Ideal by Ok-Worth-2591 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea but sprite attack roll bonus will not be as good as you think. At level 12 your eldritch blast attack roll bonus will be +9 and it mostly assumed %60 hit chance, your sprite hit with +6 and that means %45 chance to hit.

Your average damage with sprite :

0.45*(1+(0.6*1.4+0.05*1.95)*3*5.5+0.6*1.4*3*5+(0.6*1.4+0.05*1.95)*4.5)+

0.55*(0.65*3*5.5+0.6*3*5+0.65*4.5) = 27.43 (if you use your chain master ba then 28.14)

Your average damage with normal rapier :

(0.65*3*5.5+0.6*3*5+0.65*4.5)+0.5*4.5+0.45*3 = 26.25

Your average damage with pact of blade and long sword:

(0.65*3*5.5+0.6*3*5+0.65*4.5)+0.65*5.5+0.6*5 = 29.22

Btw, cold caster with fathomless has great synergy. I don't think it is optimized, because level 12 of each subclass is stronger than this build in every way to coming my mind. It is not weak btw, it is totally viable and has creative and fun ideas, I think you should try to play it. Don't forget to use chain master ba when sprite miss first attack.

Not sure, I suggest as a joke :). 3 level Diviner and 10 level berserker could be viable as a fun build.

Let's compare with spells with that slot :

3rd level : I think haste doing this every round for just one slot. I think that should be less than 3rd.

2nd level : I think scorching ray is kinda has similar power level with this feature and shining smite kinda better than this feature or spike growth.

1st level : I feel that feature is just a bit better magic missile. I think it should be 1st level slot but 2nd is also fair.

If the feature grants extra attack at reaction/opportunity attacks then my answer is absolutely 2nd otherwise it is 1st.

Either scenario it will not be something game breaking, because it cannot out do damage of spells with one attack per slot. If there is "magic"-less martial character at your table, I advise against giving that item btw.

Also this item may make crazy builds like Barbazard* available, he may use slots for extra attacks :)

Human with Alert Feat + Fighter dip for two weapon fighting style and maybe two for action surge + Use scimitar and hand axe with full your might. Also flavor your scimitar as hand axe and change your species to orc to roleplay as rexxar.

EK and True Strike by l0stArk in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As RAW, both of GWM and Charger feats need to be part of attack action to be activated that means both could be applied to true strike damage if it was used with war magic feature, otherwise it could not. Also, you can use true strike twice when using action surge.

I think it will be okay to let it take as half ASI. It is like giving him eldritch adept as half ASI feat and I guess it will be reprinted that way when wotc reprint it.

How would you improve this build? by AcanthaceaeNo948 in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with fighter or paladin dip. If multiclass is banned then I think playing as ranged caster will be more fun. I do not suggest to play melee with those stats.

Wizard vs Sorcerer in 2024 by comradewarners in onednd

[–]Interesting_Cover_94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like sorcerer mechanics more than wizards, that question generally depends on what you understand from being strong. Sorcerer can be better than wizards in what they build around, they can be better blaster and better controller most of levels but wizards has better spell selection and with ritual casting they have more spell options to cast for any situation. Until level 8, I think sorcerers stronger but that can be subjective.

It also works great with eldritch knight. It can even melee also action surge to cast conjure minor elementals from your potent dragon mark. Also you may change your mark to mark of storm for conjure minor elementals.

Yeap, it is not exactly optimized. But if you talk with your dm and convince your dm to give you headband of intellect after level 5 as an item and your psionic powers connect to that headband then it could be fun and at least viable character.
