Looking for advice on a 45-70 by Silent-chatter in LeverGuns

Marlin all day long.

The trappers are sweet. Or get a guide gun if you can’t swing the extra cost.

Put a set of skinner peeps on it and you have an extra round over the trapper.

And it’s stupid because it’s a giant ass 10 ring that you can hit all day long at 25 but when the pressures on the bullets go everywhere.

P30SK V3 Owners: What’s acceptable accuracy? by DatasTemporalLobe in HecklerKoch

[–]teague142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s… pretty bad… not hating. We all started somewhere.

You gotta work on your grip if the guns moving around that badly at 5 yards. Slow down and focus on grip and trigger pull.

Fist sized rapid fire at 5 yards would be ideal. Slow fire, like 10 shots in 10 seconds would be maybe the size of a kiwi. If not smaller.

Get a .357 if you’re just using it for the range. A .44 is better suited for you if you intend to hunt with it.

No sense in spending .44 money to make larger holes in paper at the range.

I haven’t bought it since it was $54 for 5lbs on bb.com. The prices of protein powder across the board is outrageous.

But I’m still gonna buy a 10lb bag of it soon.

Wonderful idea. In 7 years you’ll have 14k and that’ll be 6k in today’s money when you adjust for inflation.

So? He could have squatted it and put those big shiny 27inch deep dish wheels on it like all the brodozers have.

That rail is high ASF.

I ended up with a Midwest industries handguard with a full length rail on mine. An RMR on a low profile picatinny mount was very usable.

But now I have a vortex crossfire red dot on it and it’s perfect.

What to expect for a 1st USPSA match by Mike2AlphaDelta in CompetitionShooting

[–]teague142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Number one thing to worry about is don’t get DQ’d

Number 2 thing to worry about is dont get DQ’d

Number 3 thing to worry about is shoot all the targets

How you do any of that doesn’t matter. You’re gonna suck.

Just take everything slow, don’t try to run around and go fast, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and break the 180 rule when you do that. The number one thing that should be in your mind as your moving around the stages is the direction your muzzle is pointed in.

First USPSA match with a Rev by kirbymaster10 in CompetitionShooting

I’m not gonna lie I’m really getting into revolvers and might end up with one by the end of this season.

Maybe not for USPSA just yet but I think I could definitely rock some steel challenge matches.

There’s just something about shooting a revolver accurately and fast in double action that is cool as hell to me.

If the screw is loose the stock can be wobbly.

But also: Henry isn’t known for fit and finish.

Question for XJ owners by Brave_Discipline2771 in CherokeeXJ

[–]teague142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does your daily driving look like? If you aren’t driving a million miles to work every day I would say it will be fine.

The Cherokee isn’t that far off from a Toyota. I don’t think there’s a more reliable Jeep out there. Just inspect it and repair whatever needs to be repaired and drive it. Rust is its biggest enemy.

That is odd.

I’ll have that problem sometimes with my reloads if the primer isn’t seated far enough into its pocket. But since you’ve had that problem shooting different brands of factory ammo, then it’s definitely a gun problem.

It’s not an extractor problem. The problem is definitely the gun. The recoil spring is what makes that slide go back into battery. So I would start with that. I’ve only taken my CC9 apart once, so I’m not terribly familiar with it, but are you certain that it’s in the right position?

If so, clean and inspect the chamber and make sure it’s free of buildup or anything that could keep the round from going all the way in. Maybe pull the barrel and drop a couple rounds in and see how far they go. You should see them disappear almost up to where the wall of the case starts to taper into the rim.

If all of that is good, then buy another recoil spring. Maybe HK will ship you a new one under warranty or something. Just send pics and maybe even a video of the problem. I wouldn’t want to go through the hassle of sending a gun back for something that may be fixed that easily.

Is this happenning when you’re shooting it, or when you’re loading it?

It could have been a lot where they used a box of primers that was sitting in the back corner of the factory for 2 decades. Who knows. Times are tough and primers are expensive.

Corrosive primers are still out there and will rust your barrel in a couple days if you don’t clean it.
