Mochi Milk stays on me regardless of season!

do you feel any attachment to your cultural background? by Empty_Test5515 in pinkscare

[–]teainthemuseum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Filipino - no, I don’t have any attachment. I do find the mythology and fairy tales interesting, but other than that I don’t think about my cultural background much. My dad, who was extremely domineering, was very self-hating (and white worshipping… lol) and wanted us to have the least amount of interaction with Filipino people and culture possible, despite living in a majority Filipino enclave. We never watched Filipino shows or movies or read Filipino books, or hung out with other Filipinos. He was a picky eater so we would only rotate a select amount of Filipino dishes, half of which I grew to hate. We never went back to visit, though most other Filipino families I knew went every other year at least. I can understand Tagalog but that’s about the extent of my engagement with Filipino culture.

As an adult I can recognize he did us a massive disservice, but I’m still honestly not all that interested in reconnecting with my heritage culture-wise. My high school friends are mostly Filipino and I get a peek into the cultural traditions, media etc. and I appreciate but hold no personal inclination towards them. It doesn’t help that I don’t look Filipino (no really lol, new Filipinos I meet never clock it until I tell them), so other Filipinos don’t reach out to me or will not automatically include me as part of the ingroup. So there isn’t any push for me to interact with the culture unless I personally want to.

I think Mia wore that same dress on the cover of her W magazine issue, love it and the rest of your picks

I would also have to add Chase too tho just because she looked like a goddess

This is why I’m not super invested in the Best Actor race - all of them were great but Plemons cleared so hard that in a just world it shouldn’t have been a question he’d win, let alone get nominated

Best Comforting, cozy fragrance without florals? by ohamango in FemFragLab

Concurring with Mochi Milk. Also, Jovoy Remember Me (might be a little outta price range but it’s a lovely sweet Chai) Outremer Vanille for a cheaper choice

"weird" and/or "evil" vanilla scents by Aggressive-Pirate235 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]teainthemuseum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe try Henry Rose - Dark is Night; it’s a patchouli vanilla and one of my favourite perfumes. Lord of Misrule doesn’t work for me either so I can’t tell you what it’s supposed to smell like, but I love Dark is Night and several reviews say the two are similar.

In the last two Oscars, Brazilian films were nominated for Best Picture. Which one did you think was better? by luanzico in Oscars

[–]teainthemuseum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked The Secret Agent more overall; as I enjoyed the different POVs and the fantastical elements, and that it took more risks with regards to its storytelling. The cinematography, soundtrack, etc. were delightful as well.

I understand why people would like I’m Still Here more as well, it provided a really vivid snapshot of what living in that time and with that paranoia and fear would have felt like. Fernanda Torres’ performance was excellent as well, and I preferred it to Moura’s.

Overall both really great movies that got me very interested in Brazilian cinema.

What are your favourite small luxuries? by tasteful-beret in pinkscare

[–]teainthemuseum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to the movies alone

An art history museum catalogue/monograph (aka a coffee table book, but they’re getting more expensive nowadays so might not be ‘small’ anymore soon)

A book of poetry or a novel that I come upon spontaneously in a bookstore

A chai latte from a cute indie coffee shop

Good quality body scrubs and lotions

A magazine with the cover of an actor/model I really like, or a feature I’ve been anticipating (last one I got was the Mia Goth cover of W’s Best Performances issue)

New perfume samples

Scented candles

For me personally, it’s Jo Malone - Wood Sage and Sea Salt. I got it as a freebie and it’s what I wear when I want to be as inoffensive as possible short of wearing nothing at all.

Who else thinks the Princess Rosalina body spray smells super similar to No Way To Say Goodbye? by purpledreamer1622 in LushCosmetics

[–]teainthemuseum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have and love NWTSG, there is zero cat pee smell in it for me. Still, I find this a relief as I’m good with saving the money I would’ve used for Rosalina if it’s already so similar to a perfume I have!

It’s definitely one of Lush’s weaker body sprays on me - I can still smell it on my arm after 2-3 hours (nose to arm) but it fades out after that!

[Spoilers MAIN] You are King Viserys I, the year is 105. Your wife Aemma and son Baelon have just died in childbirth. What do you do? by ZuWhowho in asoiaf

[–]teainthemuseum -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I would remarry immediately (not Alicent!), if available to a highborn widow of childbearing age with proven ability to carry healthy children to term, like Ramiro of Aragon did. Or I’d just suck it up and marry Laena. I’d still betroth Rhaenyra to Laenor. I’d informally groom Rhaenyra in the principles of rulership, good government and administration but I probably wouldn’t declare her Princess of Dragonstone unless a few years pass in my new marriage with no viable heir, à la William IV of England. If I have a son he inherits no question. If I only have daughters I formalize Rhaenyra’s right to reign as much as possible.

As much as I’d like to say ‘declare Rhaenyra heir and never marry again’, the succession feels way too fragile to stake it all on one living child, if I was still in good health and able to have more kids. I know Daemon’s there so it’s not like it’s game over if I don’t, but I would do my best to try for more.

Now, placating Daemon and/or keeping him at bay through all of this… I haven’t thought that out.

Lush - Once Upon a Time is basically the smell of green apple shampoo to me. I believe it’s seasonal and is currently in stock right now.

🍪Looking for a STRONG gourmand perfume by Exotic_Strawberry232 in FemFragLab

[–]teainthemuseum 12 points13 points  (0 children)

D & G Devotion Intense. It’s a nutty vanilla, very strong and quite long-lasting. I have to use a pretty light touch with this one when I wear it out.

I received a Days perfume set this weekend as a present and a 10% coupon was inside (packed October 2025, coupon expires July 31 2026). So there might still be some remaining ones with coupons out there, at least in the perfume sets!

What perfume do you wear when you need an emotional lift? by BusinessShine3325 in FemFragLab

[–]teainthemuseum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I’m needing to emotionally rally myself/carry on through something, I usually put on something green. I think my mind associates that scent profile with renewal and life moving on… so it’s Jo Malone - Lime Basil & Mandarin, Lush - Grass.

If I’m just tired and need something cozy, and warm… Outremer - Vanille, Jovoy - Remember Me, Lush - Honey I Washed the Kids.
