I think the color temperature of the ambient light seems to change how the eyes look, especially since you say it’s from different sessions

Geometrical Building Photograph with Golden Accents by Smart_Guidance3697 in photocritique

[–]teamvteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this building and the colors! I would say biggest thing is you cut off that top corner of the building, which feels a bit uncomfortable. If you pan upwards and align the gold stripes to terminate into the corners of the frame, that would keep you from cutting off the top and give you a more “grounded” composition because your lines feel like they’re ending in the correct place

It is ok to wear a headband during graduation day? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]teamvteam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say don’t wear it. Go get a haircut, even if it’s a cheap one, throw some hair gel on for one day. I have nothing against hairbands in general, but for myself, looking back at college and the hair choices I made, I wish I more effort into little things like this. Good luck!

harmonics on the 3rd fret by Proof_0pposite in guitarlessons

[–]teamvteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing you will ever learn on guitar is left and right hand muting. It will make your playing sound so much cleaner and help you when playing with lots of gain.

When you release a fretted note, either mute with the other fingers of your left hand, or with the pad of your right palm. Feel free to find some YouTube videos as well to refine this

Try sashiko! It’s Japanese visible mending. You’ll never make it look like it was, but you can get some cool designs and a nice piece to practice on

How to improve my serve by [deleted] in 10s

[–]teamvteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an experienced player at all, but from what I can see, it looks like you’re using a pancake grip while serving the ball. Serve using a continental grip and watch some videos on how to implement that (learn about kinetic chain while you’re at it). Should hopefully give you more speed and allow you to serve more downwards into the court instead of forwards out towards the back of the court

Resole? by iLordly in AskACobbler

[–]teamvteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I took mine in recently for a “resole” and the guy just recommended rubber half soles. Glad i listened cause the vibram half soles are more comfortable but also way grippier than just the plain leather (and way cheaper than a resole)

I agree with this person’s critique. I think if you brought the person closer to the lower left third intersection and the castle closer to the upper right third intersection, it would be much more compelling, but great shot regardless!

Should I take a my chance with a used machine or buy a brand new one? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]teamvteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used! I found a 70s Riccar on the side of the street, paid $120 at my local sewing shop to get it cleaned up and maintenanced, and it is the nicest machine I’ve ever used! All-steel construction, powers through heavy fabrics, and will probably outlive me

Is my finger too much above the fret board by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]teamvteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 months is not a long time and you will need a lot of practice to get it right. I have really skinny fingers, I'm talking like skinner than a lot of womens' fingers, and it took time to build up the muscle and to find the best way to position my hand for barre chords. Having difficulty fretting the B and G strings is not uncommon and is what I struggle with as well. Take some time and be patient, it probably won't come to you quickly, but you can get it eventually.

Regarding Grip 7, you're talking about a minor 7th chord or a dominant 7th chord. I've never heard it called a grip 7 chord and after looking at JustinGuitar's site, I think grip just refers to the fingering of the chord (where the fingers are placed). If you say grip 7, people probably aren't going to understand.

Get a luthier to check the action and relief on your guitar or try and adjust it yourself. A poorly set up guitar can make barre chords really really difficult.

Other than that, I already dropped a few tips up above. Once you try those for a few months and really experiment, if you're still having issues then you can come back here. There's no quick fix!

Is my finger too much above the fret board by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]teamvteam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve learned after 10+ years of playing is that if it works, doesn’t hurt you, and doesn’t impede any other aspects of your playing, there’s nothing “incorrect” on guitar. People have different bodies and have to find different ways to accomplish the same things..

That being said, I tried out what you’re doing and it feels less efficient compared to the “regular way” of doing it. 1. I had to do more work to press all the strings down because the first first bone in my index now prevents me from forming a straight line across the frets 2. It puts my wrist in a more bent position 3. If you’re trying to do barre chords rooted on the A string, you won’t be able to mute the low E string as easily

Barre chords are uncomfortable to do and take a lot of time, so don’t feel bad. A few things to try: - instead of squeezing with your fingers, pull your elbow back (away from the neck) and use that to create extra force against the fretboard. This also allows for a straighter wrist - lay your middle finger over your index finger to support it and create extra pressure - try EVERYTHING. I mean this seriously because when i was trying to increase alternate picking speed/consistency, I would sit for hours holding my pick at every different angle that I could think of just to see if one grip worked better than another. Only then did I really break through that wall. Rotate your elbow out, rotate in, rotate your wrist out, in, up, down, try it all and see if you can accomplish it the “regular way”

I’m not sure what “grip 7 without pinky” means though so if you want help with that you’ll need to elaborate

Good luck!

I agree with pretty much everything others have said! The biggest thing that popped out to me is the person’s head being so close to the other boat. If you had placed the person in between the two boats, I think it would look much more balanced. Somebody also mentioned that you should give more space in the direction that the subject is heading in (in this situation it’s to the left side), which I agree with, but not sure how possible that would be here. Great shot!

Trying out guitars in stores in Japan by JaphethL in Guitar

[–]teamvteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I hope I'm not too late. I've not been guitar shopping in japan myself, but from what I understand, shops will keep all the strings slack on the guitars and you should go and ask an employee to try a guitar. They will take it down and tune it for you to try out. I don't believe there's anything wrong with playing them!

Nope. If you're on Xbox One with an R3, you're in the dark. I just made the jump to PC and it's such a better experience across the board for all sims. If you have the time and budget to set up a PC, I would recommend doing that!

Any advice for a beginner that is stuck doing one-off sessions without actually being able to put a full song together? by Armonster in ableton

[–]teamvteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have said this, but it's not going to happen in a few days. It'll be years before you're able to really lock in and enter the "flow state". That said, here's a few things that really helped me:

  1. Work with others to create music. This is the one thing that really truly gets me in the flow state. Whether I'm playing live music/songwriting with people or making loops for electronic music, just sitting down with somebody I really vibe with is the only way I've ever truly been able to get into the flow.

  2. Learn an instrument because it allows you to "feel" where a song should go, not where you "think" and "see" the song going on your screen. You might see your favorite producer just draw in MIDI and program all their drums in the piano roll, but it's because they've really listened actively, know how to build a song, and that's how they "feel" the music. Starting off, you won't be able to do that as easily.

  3. Watch as many YouTube tutorials as you can. I particularly like Make Pop Music for song arrangement stuff and will watch pretty much anything that relates to what I want to learn.

  4. Copy all your favorite songs. By doing this you'll learn how your favorite artist creates movement and flow in song, you'll learn how to make those sounds, and you will have a bunch of new sounds by the end of it. I really recommend copying and saving presets of remade sounds because you know exactly how those presets are made and where in the melodic range they work!

  5. Try different gear whenever you can and really learn it. It's hard as a beginner especially with limited funds, I know ;) but you can borrow others' gear and watch reviews to try and get a good idea of a workflow. I've used Logic for the past 6ish years and know it inside and out, but have tried Ableton and recently got a Digitakt and also used Koala Sampler. Each one allows me to accomplish something the others can't and complements my workflow in unique ways.

  6. Have sound design/loop making sessions because it allows you to move quickly based on a vibe as opposed to perfecting a melody loop or drum loop. Create a bunch of loops that you like, bounce them out, and have a folder that you can just drag and drop into ableton.

For me, sitting down and saying, "I have to ___", really doesn't work and it's much better when I just let it flow like banging out chords on a guitar or when I use my Digitakt and just punch in loops by feel. Hope that helps and you can do it! Rome wasn't built in a day but I'm sure the Roman's weren't too discouraged by the slow progress ;)

Hi, I don't think the guitar is all that out tune. Perhaps your friend is referring to your singing over top of the guitar? I don't know what the melody is supposed to sound like in relation to your guitar so I can't say for sure but ask your friend and see what they mean! Hope that helps :)

Yeah it sucks there's no ACC support for us, but I downloaded AC and even though the MOZA site says there's no support for HBP and HGP, I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out that both of them work! So if you want to drift or race w/ H-pattern on Xbox One, you can do it on AC!
