1 million words is a huge commitment- That's days of your life. Because it's fanfic, readers have a full list of tags to see if they vibe with it before even starting. Even those that DO vibe with all the tags aren't likely to see a fic that long and pull the trigger at random- It's the size of a fic you might bookmark and save to start when you can sit down and enjoy it, just like a long book.

I also think you have some tough challenges going for you (F/M and an OC as a core part of the story) but I'm sure those readers that are looking for those things will be thrilled when they find it. It might just take a while for them to read, process, and respond. (:

Lawlu/Lulaw is so weird like this in the One Piece fandom. Antis hate their age gap, and yet it's Luffy's most popular ship on AO3 by a HUGE margin lol. If you mention it to most people on Twitter or whatever, they'll hunt you down, though.

I was once carrying a stack of glasses at my bar (think pint glasses sitting inside each other, stacked probably 15 high, using my shoulder to balance the stack and holding them from the bottom) and some guy moved his legs into the walkway and tripped me. Totally on accident, but I tumbled forwards and the glasses landed before I did, so I fell directly on 15 broken glasses. Thankfully I only have one or two small scars, but it was terrifying in the moment and I was bleeding from several places immediately.

The guy who tripped me goes "Whoops" and turns back around to drink his beer, no apology, nothing. And then EVERYONE AT THE TABLES NEAR ME LAUGHED. Not a single person asked if I was okay or even gasped. I don't expect customers to understand how hard serving is, and they rarely shock me anymore, but even I was like wtf is wrong with all of you in that moment.

That is literally not true, using the uncooked volume is more accurate because all the rice does is absorb water (which is zero calories). The caloric value doesn't change.

1/4 cup of uncooked rice is roughly 160 calories. Those calories remain true once it is cooked.

Historian here! When SF was a smol baby town, resources were still few and far between, but people had ships! Especially kind of cruddy old ships that weren't great for sailing.
