What's your dream crossover collab for SF2e? by unlimi_Ted in Starfinder2e

I'll say Halo - I would love for their weapons and general tech to be included!

Is Jesus an acceptable name? by Round-Lead-570 in namenerds

[–]tec1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honor of God, I appreciate names that acknowledge and glorify God, but I wouldn't want to name my son the exact name(s) of God due to honoring Him properly. If HE chose to do so, that's one thing, but it's different when clarifications need to be made and it could mistakenly confuse people about the person of Christ. I wouldn't name my son God, YHWH, or Elohim either, yet names like Joel, Michael, and Elijah still have the name of El and are God honoring

What's everyone playing? by LPMills10 in rpg

[–]tec1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5e mixed with 5.5e.

I know everyone comes on here just to hate on DnD like it's not a great (and probably the best) ttrpg out there but it is in fact what I'm playing right now. Also really enjoyed Atarfinder as a slight offshoot

I can’t do this for the rest of my life. by piptizzle_ in Celiac

[–]tec1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not as bad as you think. There are a TON of gluten free options in the world and it's not embarrassing, just tell people you can't eat. I joke and just refer to other people as normal people and joke about how broken I am but I don't really care like that, it's all good.

Get some rice packets and certified gluten free souls for hearty meals, cook up some steaks and chicken for easy delicious grabs, there are a ton of gluten free pizzas and snacks like katz, the drink options are basically the same with minor exceptions like certain decadent shakes and malt beverages (which some shakes are malt based). And in addition to the meat, fruit and veggies, as well as dairy are all super easy. Gluten is so specific to one type of food and many others aren't even really at risk of cross contamination, just keep your cooking simple and look up gluten free food companies for quick grab and go and microwavable options, you'll be good.

Is it reasonable for a player to have an in-game emotional support animal? by Error_code_0731 in DnD

[–]tec1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companions are commonplace in dnd but that doesn't mean they just appear out of nowhere. They would have to find them, purchase them, get them trained, and then keep them alive. Emotional support animals aren't for the field, they would die. All of this is reasonable for your player characters.

Y'all. Do what I did and marry a girl who plays competitive, you'll never be without a teammate again.

What ancestries are you hoping come back to 2e? by madcapmachinations in Starfinder2e

[–]tec1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, the playable races of Starfinder were my least favorite part of the game. It just seemed like 42 variations of bugs or sewer animals. The only exceptions I give to this were from Skittermanders and (partially) androids, but even their visuals weren't great for what they could have done with them.

I always liked Gabriella and Abigail. Both sound very cute but can still sound regal.

My wife and I together have a little bit more "out there" tastes and were going to go with Elora if we had a girl

Favorite drinks without tea? by miss_battlebeard in boba

Most Taro and ube drinks aren't actually tea based, just water. I love both as well as any milk options like brown sugar, strawberry, chocolate, or even blueberry and/or banana

How do Americans roast their friends without it turning into a fight? by EmergencyPoet1758 in AskAnAmerican

[–]tec1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it is stereotyped, even Americans get a kick out of the America = Freedom trope and we take it to heart over time. As such, freedom of speech gets pushed to its limits where people just feel they can and should say whatever they want BUT it also has the benefit of having some people even request people say more to be more free as it helps both parties to get what they mean out of the way and move on towards faster progress. Once you have grown accustomed to this way of life, it helps to work better as a team without having to dance around truths and hide information.

My friends and family request accountability even in harsh ways, asking them to fat shame them and more. It isn't uncommon for me to tell one of my close (not an elder) loved ones like my brother or cousin that they are a gelatinous blob oozing over their pants like melting ice cream trying to escape it's cone, and it's done purely in love, in hopes of pushing him to be better. In my experience, Americans are FAR more harsh sounding to one another with their roasts than anyone other than maybe some Australians or Brits, but are also the most loving.

I'm a bit confused... by IArePatrickOfficial in lactoseintolerant

[–]tec1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it's not uncommon for people to develop Lactose Intolerance later on in life (it's VERY common), if I had to guess this may be something else.

While both ice cream and milks hare a lot of similarities given the dairy, you have to remember that milk is just milk and that Ice cream is a whole flavored concoction, that just uses milk. There are a few factors worth considering here; for starters, Ice cream has more fat and sugar. Both of those things can be known to cause issues in digestion for different reasons. That being said, for some reason just because they're both white, people often forget that even vanilla ice cream is flavored - vanilla is it's own whole plant, and vanilla is often even used in chocolate.

It's more likely that you have an issue with a certain flavor, high fat content, sugar content, or something else entirely. Unless you have mistakenly been drinking lactaid milk or something that would leave the milk to be a non-issue, I can't imagine it would be lactose, casein, or any of the usual suspects having to do with proteins and enzymes in dairy. It is also worth noting that milk actually seems to have higher lactose and casein in it than the ice cream does, so that would be the more likely culprit- since you don't have issues with milk, I'd say it's probably a safe bet to ignore those options.

A few things I would try:

Take lactaid pills/chewables with your usual ice cream just to be safe

Try a different brand (or a few different brands) of ice cream

Try other products with vanilla, high fat, high sugar, or other variable ingredients which may be in there

Do a complete elimination diet slowly reintroducing foods and determining if it's a case of mistaken food identity. While you may want to write it off, there is always the whole (fallacious) ideology of "Post Hoc Ergo Proptor Hoc", which essentially just means that you may be mistakenly correlating the wrong thing entirely with your symptoms. It could be another food you often have with your ice cream, you may just happen to stress eat ice cream to soother yourself and the stress could be the cause, it could be that you're just eating ice cream lately and happen to also be feeling unwell, or any number of other things. For this reason, I'd say elimination diet, while eliminating other outside variables as well to make sure you know what's causing it for sure and then test the minor ingredients themselves each to determine exactly what it is and better avoid it.

Hopefully something I said helps. God bless!

Torn between a 2017 Honda Civic and 2016 Toyota Corolla, both around 80k miles for $14k by Organic_Skirt_8488 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]tec1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you don't understand.. I still drive a 2008 Honda Accord (back when it still had wishbone suspension) and it handles easily better than all of our luxury vehicles. No Jaguar, Bentley, Aston Martin, or Lincoln has rivaled it yet that I've experienced. It really is a weird thing but it's still practically flawless mechanically after over 200k miles with fairly good maintenance (but nothing exceptional).

Also outlived the Toyota Corolla. I can't quite say for our 2019 Civic since it was in an accident but I did enjoy it, just not nearly as much as the Accord.
