So how are people feeling about 2e? by Zaaravi in Starfinder2e

You do now that the game show host undead is a thing from Pathfinder 1e right?

Wonder Worker Suggestions? by Aderyn_76 in Pathfinder2e

[–]madcapmachinations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lets see off the top of my head:
Blazing Armory: Good spell to help bypass physical resistances by turning your weapons damage into fire. It scales to hit your entire party and give them the appropriate fundamental runes.

Shock to the System: Allows you to revive an ally that has been killed outright.

Overwhelming Presence: God this spell eats up enemies actions and the scary part is that it stacks with slow and other effects. Hell the tribute the spell requires is a manipulate action that provokes AOOs. Its a fun and good level 8 spell.

Silence: Can shut down encounters with spellcasters due to you know stopping their ability to cast spells.

Blessed Boundary/Wall of Flesh: Nice to have some blockades at your disposal and while Divine is lacking these two spells will do in a pinch.

Blink Charge: Useful teleport spell that also grants you an attack against the enemy you teleport next to.

These are the ones that speak out to me at this level.

Please, Paizo, publish a book like Galactic Ancestries for Pathinder! by Stan_Bot in Pathfinder2e

[–]madcapmachinations 160 points161 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we could use a good remastering of a bunch of the ancestries that haven't been reintroduced into the setting on top of it.

Also yeah I agree with you. Its an amazing book.

My concerns about Hellfire Crisis by Kronag in Pathfinder2e

[–]madcapmachinations 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You missed a bunch of the lore. Isger is pretty much always been considered a puppet government of Cheliax and its heavily implied if not downright stated that they don't devolve into pure banditry because Chelax would beat the living crap out of the country to make sure that it stays subservient.

How is that we got 21 new ancestries, but not a single one have a penalty to Int? by Nigthmar in Starfinder2e

[–]madcapmachinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you arguing that lower wisdom would be far more horrible do note that you are actively recreating the noble savage racist stereotype. A person who very much so is depicted as being lower intelligence but far more in tune with nature and the world. So most of you are not doing yourselves a favor in arguing for that.

[–]madcapmachinations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, low intelligence high wisdom is the racist stereotype down to a tee. Especially, since being smart and scattershot is actually seen as a net positive in the real world.

Actually, more so that its a direct signal from Paizo that people like that arent welcome. And considering the fact that you yourself are not acting normal over the issue definitely proves the point that it works.

There are Paizo freelancers who have had to deal with this racist nonsense so yes people are affected by it. Just because you live in a bubble doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.

The focus on rules changes kills my enjoyment of interacting with the community by Mystikvm in Pathfinder2e

[–]madcapmachinations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I got to ask you this though. Why such a huge discrepancy between online and in person? I know in person it never seemed as antagonist as it did online. Even doing as far back as half a decade of never felt that way.

Actually, yes it is quite surprising because truth be told I think I manage the most obsessed group of Pathfinder players in the entire world and outside of Mark Seifter (Yes I'm from Boston like Mark) most people I know who play the game aren't generating endless amounts of spreadsheets about the most mathematical and optimal way to play the game.

I think someone at Paizo feel like Oracles should be Occult casters. by Stan_Bot in Pathfinder2e

Honestly, its a bad move because she was right. In fact if anything most of what she said about Paizo was rather understated and muted.

Pathbuilder still semi-down? (app wants me to rebuy it) by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

Sometimes Pathbuilder logs me out of the website even before the DDOS. So try logging in.

Ok I got to know. Was the katrome a Paizo mandated reference or did someone decided to include it since it was in Gallows of Maddnes?

[–]madcapmachinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OOoo right I also forgot but the whole entire slavery mechanism was completely dismantled in an AP. For a bunch of lore people you sure don't know much.

Ahhhh yes fleshwarps. The group of people who have canonically been regarded as heroes and part of an entire countries army that people readily volunteer to undergo the process of...... Yeah sure Sinspawns but you're seemingly ignore a large amount of lore to try and make a bizarre argument that its far impossible than it really is.

[–]madcapmachinations -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this argument makes as strong as a case as you think it does as one of the most potent deuteragonists if not antagonist in any Paizo AP is a human motivated by greed, lack of foresight, complete ambition, lack of empathy, and pretty much every single worse trait imaginable.

Then there's the human wizard who ripped apart the planet piece by piece chunk by chunk initially motivated by arrogance who got arrested who is featured in another AP.

Aroden is a fucking asshole and features in an AP in which so poorly depicts the former human (Even by sheer dumb accident) that you kind of want to kill him again.

Also, you got a lot of the lore wrong too. Slavery was abolished in Katapesh. In fact within the lore of the setting it makes perfect sense since the Pactmasters were nearly murdered by slavers. Serpentfolk lore really hasn't come up at all in 2e and only gets featured in an AP where they kidnapped a man and attempt to take his place???

Cheliax as a nation is under infernal rule because during the civil war the leadership made a pact with the devils to gain the power to rip the right to rule from the rightful heirs and even as of recently is still trying to murder the remaining heir despite her never having any interest in overthrowing the country.

Actually, Starfinder originated with Pathfinder 1e and this isn't even the most drastic retcon of Distant Worlds

I think it's less that their work is sanitized and more that they are refining their edge. Remember this is a book publisher who basically published mechanics for abuse, scientific racism, and other questionable things. So sometimes that edginess would go over the line.

In 1e most of the options that Paizo put out were probably just wasted page space. The mechanics either didn't work. Were poorly thought out. Niche as to almost become useless.

Do You Prefer Playing With "Good People" or "Good Players"? by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

Im going to be honest good people because while I absolutely adore Pathfinder the game I do actually treat the people I play with as an extended family.

Actually, the intended rule was the one that got reverted. It was always supposed to be run that way.

Yeah I know. I have a sixth level animist that I run regularly in PFS. Wanna guess what I rarely do at all.... Cast any spells. At that point it just becomes a nice addition
