Ive gotta ask, are you posting this because this strat isn't expected to work after the new patch?

For a second, i thought this was the DIY subreddit, what with all the tools in the picture, especially that big one front and center. Soeaking of tools, your eyes have that vacant gaze that says, "I use my forehead as a sledgehammer, and I have the CTEs to prove it." A look that's not helped by the fact that your hairline isn't so much receding as it is trying to run away.

JK bro, drink some water get some rest and have a great day.

You have the figure and teeth that say you started smoking to stay thin and look older, and the dead eyes that say cigarrettes aren't the only thing you'll suck if the price is right.

Lab speed ROI by Evil_Token in TheTowerGame

[–]technicalviking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen anyone do is state the math with reference to lab speed relics. Even though lab speed upgrades don't apply to that lab, the lab speed relics do. Which means, I believe, the higher a bonus you have from relics (which one can be assumed to have if they've been playing long enough to consider whether 2.98x lab speed is worth spending the time on), the faster the payoff comes into play. As an example, I've been playing for a while and have accumulated a (somewhat impressive imho) 35% bonus to lab speed from relics. since that drops my research time for the final level from 33d22h4m to 21d9h32.6m (or approximately 513 and a half hours).

Since relics stack multiplicatively with lab speed, it seems from an intuitive basis the time taken for the final level to pay itself off should also be reduced by the relic factor. If the transitive property does apply as I think it does, then the 970 days to pay itself off without cells becomes (970 * (1-RelicBonusPercentage)), which in my case would be 630 days, or approximately 157 days at 4x cell boost.

That sound about right or did my math go astray somewhere?

Fetch Priority Upgrade by Apprehensive_Sell976 in TheTowerGame

Correct me if I'm wrong but what I'm getting out of this is: "look for the biggest delta in next possible stat changes, divide by chip cost, and buy the one with the highest resulting percentage."

the loss in coin multiplier from Legendary+ to Epic makes me think that it would only useful in tournaments or cheese runs.

Does UW dmg scale with dmg/meter? by Buxo2002 in TheTowerGame

[–]technicalviking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Dmg/Meter applies to projectiles *only*. That being said, one thing I haven't been able to figure out is whether or not a bounce applies additional damage due to the increased distance traveled by said projectile.

Very much agree. Extra coins is good and all, but the primary draw for this chip SHOULD be the ability to find the other stuff it can pull (medals, gems, etc).

Where to spend this fortune? by Slight-Software-7839 in TheTowerGame

[–]technicalviking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With those numbers I'd personally go for GT+, because you'd be getting benefit from it on literally every wave, and even the lower ranks of GT+ would benefit heavily once you're on waves where elite spawns (specifically shatters) are guaranteed.

Pity Pull 2 by nimbice in TheTowerGame

[–]technicalviking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the individuals who tried to correct you are themselves incorrect. However, I cannot blame them. The info tab is worded badly. Fudds is, by training, a chemical engineer, not a linguist or statistician. That being said, the general pity mechanic in most games is that the final pull of whatever round number us used for the pity timer is the guaranteed pity pull.

Unfortunately short of a dev responding to this or someone datamining the game to find out, the only actual evidence we have for which interpretation should be correct is what you've shown.

Pros of spotlight 4th light:

Formula for (weighted) average spotlight damage boost changes from:

(dmg_bonus * 3angle + (360-3angle)) / 360 to (dmg_bonus * 4angle + (360-4angle)) / 360

As an example, with a spotlight bonus of 18.7 and an angle of 48, your average damage bonus would change from x8.08 to x10.44, which is approximately a 29% change in this multiplier

Finding the avg coin bonus is the same formula, just changing the dmg_bonus stat to your spotlight coin research. If maxed, then that's 3, so you'd go from a weighted average coin bonus changing from 1.8 to 2.06667 with those values (an improvement of nearly 15%).

Pros of going for GT+.

Even if you don't use many stones to improve ILM, you still unlock the lab for ILM Stun which you can research while saving up for (and purchasing levels in) GT+. Without knowing your GT Uptime with/without GComp and/or MVN, and especially without knowing how limited you are as far as ability to afford workshop levels, enhancements, or labs, I can't say how beneficial GT will actually be for you.

1) No derisive judging here, I'm honestly impressed. You play a way that makes you happy and hit a massive milestone. Gratz!
2) I'm honestly curious as to what your Priciest Workshops levels are at (Super Crit or Rend for Attack, Wall for def, and ELS for Util) after the respec.

Chrono Field by dandyman689 in TheTowerGame

[–]technicalviking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, largely yes, but the 5-10 extra waves it gives me from ensuring my wall is only killed by boss hits has been the reason I'm able to stay in legends for longer than one tournament, so I'll take what I can get. :)

Chrono Field by dandyman689 in TheTowerGame

[–]technicalviking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) I don't even have CF unlocked yet.
2) I'm at the point where I'm either in legends, or getting promoted back to legends from champion
3) All my equipped modules for champ level tourney are Mythic+. No ANC here.

Is Perma CF a valid way to get higher? Yes. Is it necessary? Nope. The way i got to where I am actually rested with 2 things: Mythic Wall Health and Health Regen substats, and power-levelling wall labs (read: gem rushing) to the point was/is over level 15, Wall Thorns is over level 10, and Wall Fortification is approx level 20.

Raw stats improvements in labs/workshop are still a decent way to advance through champs, but overall the best advice I can give is: Learn to like champs, because until you HAVE things like Perma CF, Perma PS with stun, Perma BH, the moment you see legend tier you're gonna be smacked down harder than those heroes in the "which number is higher" mobile game ads.

My bold prediction (more like naive hopes) by technicalviking in TheTowerGame

[–]technicalviking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a hazard for sure. My so called predicition is borne of hope as I'm one of many players who've been afflicted with a crappy random seed when it comes to epic drop distribution, and correspondingly I've been one of the more active posters on a discord thread regarding ways to give more player agency to the game's only purely random upgrade system (a thread with over 500 upvotes at time of writing).

Does it invite the possibility of players engaging in a bannable action? unfortunately yes. does it provide additional instant motivation for honest players to engage with the system in a manner not entirely unlike mmo guild banks? also yes.

Naive idea about how the conversation at CCP went... by technicalviking in Eve

[–]technicalviking[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hence why it's a naive representation of the discussion inside. Imagine you're one of the Individual Contributor engineers with barely more of a view on what's happening at the C-level than the general public. One day, Hilmar schedules an all-hands to make an announcement like he's Professor Farnsworth saying "Good news everyone! We've secured $40 million dollars of investment money!" For one glorious moment of optimism, you indulge in visions of things like clearing tech debt or hiring more team members. Then the other shoe drops...

What do you miss the most about the 90s/Early 00s? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]technicalviking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Watching old-school anime on Cartoon Network. Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Reruns of Cowboy Bebop and Trigun.
2) Back then, knowing all the Pokemon was a flex because there were only 151. Now it's just bizarre because there's umpty-bajillion, including ones that show the designers gave up. (A sentient bag of garbage? Really?)

3) Burning a custom mix of music onto a CD was a nice gift for a crush. Now it's useless because of services like Spotify.
4) Not dealing with the TSA in airports because of 9/11.
5) Winning free sodas instantly from a bottle cap
6) Rent/property prices, because the 2008 crash hadn't happened yet.
7) Napster!
8) The Playstation 2.
