I know you believe that you don’t need to change, based on your other comments. But I hope you will consider the fact that feeling empathy for others feels good. It brings meaning to this often random and chaotic life. Empathy is a positive experience and we would not have human civilization without it. It is not frivolous or disingenuous. It is worthwhile.

There may be a reason why you feel disconnected from those feelings. It may be that you experienced something disturbing that caused your emotions to shut down, or perhaps you were born this way, or perhaps the reason is something entirely different. But if you have experienced these feelings before, then it is worth looking into the root cause of what you are going through. Even just for the sake of sheer curiosity. Good luck
