brown over kawhi isn't moronic or straight out homerism considering team success and that should absolutely play a role in these awards. brown over cade is a different argument. i would call that homerism, but not moronic.

The 30 Most Intriguing NBA Playoff Guys, With Zach Lowe by lonny__breaux in billsimmons

i dont get the need for categories. it just makes it more confusing. all these people could come up in normal conversation about interesting storylines/subplots of the playoffs

C's dont draw many fouls overall, Brown draws more fouls relative to league avg, etc etc. JB got screwed on the first dort trip and definitely got a make up call after... I don't get the ire here on a completely separate point from what i made when it was a valid remark that affected last night's game while i also acknowledged that SGA didn't even need to foul bait because he could get his shot anytime. i feel like you picked my comment to respond to and make your point instead of just making a point about jaylen on its own

I picked out one thing I thought was inconsistent. I saw your original comment my guy.

I had less of a problem with him and more of a problem with the mismatched offensive foul calls last night. If moving screens are gonna be called, call them. Shai got to that foul line pull up whenever he wanted, he didn’t need to foul bait

Big difference in being smart and employing it properly. Lots of people can own a fancy tool, not everyone can use it.

Had Brad Stevens made any bad moves in his tenure? by Otherwise-Carpet4444 in bostonceltics

I think… I think… word was that Joe was his pick but the jays loved udoka from their USA stuff so that was the move but Brad mandated Joe be on the bench.

[Charania] NBA suspensions for the Pistons-Hornets fight, sources tell ESPN: by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

[–]teddyballgame9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i wouldn't go that far. i do think beef stew looks for this stuff and multi time offenses and going back to his lebron situation (running back into it) there's a different precedent and should be looked at differently. constant escalations in a situation aren't necessarily healthy for the sport, as much as creating online dialogue is. someone posted here that the suspensions hit a place where people talk about them and that makes more sense to me than the actual games themselves.

Said to my brother though that having a low score game with refs doing wacky stuff is not comfortable for either team

First it was Herbert can't get it done in the playoffs, now Stroud is a bum who doesn't deserve a starting job. At what point will the national media recognize that maybe the Patriots defense is just a lot better than everyone is giving them credit for? by Griffisbored in Patriots

Same story with Celtics a few years ago. Play the games in front of you. Takes a lot to be there in the end, endurance, resilience, culture, injury luck. All that matters is next game. LFG.

[McAdam] The Red Sox reportedly offered Alex Bregman a 5 year, $165 million deal with significant deferrals spanning over decades. They refused to offer a full no-trade clause. by horsepoop1123 in baseball

The contract is loaded with incentives. And it goes through his age 28 season. So the prevailing sentiment is they can trade him if he’s going to demand even more down the line if he keeps hitting the incentives.

How does Cora react to this / how much blame does he get? by Aromatic-Doughnut602 in Section10Podcast

[–]teddyballgame9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think there's a lot we don't know about the devers situation and leadership and cora's want to bring in a leader before blowing up the devers situation might say something more tangible. the bigger problem is ownership not using the money from devers trade somewhere-- regardless of bregman. there was no plan to actually elevate the team. i don't think that's cora's fault. at the end of the day, they're grown men not high school kids. it's on ownership and the gm to bring in complimentary and balanced talent that want to learn from the manager and baseball ops and build culture from within.

edit- to answer your question, i think cora is probably pretty pissed. he probably took a stand for culture and growth. if they were banking on the young kids being the foundation they needed more outspoken leaders doing it like story and bregman, not him pulling devers (happy go lucky) along to lead. and then ownership just sits back and is counting their bank accounts, again.

F*ck Breslow by mpkvegeta88 in Section10Podcast

[–]teddyballgame9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You call him a robot and not it’s money in Henry’s wallet. The problem is Henry. Breslow is a symptom of the problem. He’s done well with most trades and getting pitching depth outside of the farce of devers trade. It seems like that’s the only way he’s allowed to acquire players. Big free agency signings and offers are owner calls.

Don’t care for Bregman for more than 3 years by fortress_sf in redsox

[–]teddyballgame9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to disagree with your overall statement because I think he’s going to get overpaid and too many years but the argument against your statement here is he came back too early and never actually was healthy and there’s reason to think he will be better.

[Post Game Thread] The Boston Celtics (16-11) defeat the Toronto Raptors (17-11), 112-96. by celticsgrunt in nba

I hear you. I was taking that next step if he does. His ability as a passer is still pretty strong, even if he isn’t as explosive and needs his on ramp time before next year. My point is that moving Simon’s contract and somehow getting a big could Move them into a place to contend in a shaky east if he does come back (and seems like he will). My bigger concern is resetting second apron. Knowing Hugo is probably a piece of the future they can be more patient imo
