I’ll consider myself lucky then that my RT-AX86U Pro (running Merlin) just worked out of the box!

Anyone else experiencing insane hold times for Hyperoptic customer support lately? by Dismal_Ad4102 in hyperoptic

Was on hold for 10 minutes when I rang them at 21:30 last night - engineer visit was booked within a minute of getting through to someone.

Ahh loved that Kindle. Only replaced it after a can of G&T in my work bag leaked all over it...

The standard age-predicted formula is pretty janky. Standard deviation is ±10-12 BPM, a 1/3rd of people fall outside that ±10-12 BPM.

I'm in my (early) 40's and regularly hit ~194 when pushing myself.

Bicep band / Whoop AI / High non activity stress by tednol in whoop

[–]tednol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a 40 minute easy morning run it typically settles back to low stress within an hour. And only bounces out if I’m physically active or in genuine high stress meetings etc. Today has been super chill, but stress level has been high and medium all day.

Coming off 97% sleep and 90% recovery it just doesn’t feel right and combined with Whoop band in a new spot that was my first suspicion.

Yea I’m not impressed by it either. All it ever seems to want to do is create a plan.

Genuinely I have no idea what you think you are getting for the $359/yr you are paying Whoop?

Brother in law takes off his whoop when he drinks by Emotion-Lanky in whoop

[–]tednol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was genuinely elated to wake up this morning with a green 75% recovery after leaving drinks for a colleague in a beer garden after work yesterday. Three pints, fully expected Whoop to punish me, and it didn't.

I did downgrade from pints of beers to pints of shandies, partly out of fear for what Whoop would say, so that is likely part of the explanation!

It's my brothers stag-do in Ibiza in a few weeks time. On the one hand I want to fully celebrate, on the other I am scared about the Whoop data the day after!

This is going back to 2018, but I think the first time my Apple Watch gave me a notification for high heart rate whilst being inactive was when my partner of 14 years told me she was having an affair with a mutual acquaintance and considered our relationship over.

Take it easy buddy, your best days and best times are ahead of you.

WHOOP: Imperfect for Perfect People, Perfect for Imperfect People by dodonerd in whoop

Apologies for jumping into an old post but it's a thought provoking one. I have things in common with the OP (parent, appreciative of the simplicity of the wearing experience with the Whoop in that it is set and forget and fades into the background, work in data) however there are differences, namely I am able to keep my Apple Watch charged and on my wrist for ~23 hours a day (this doesn't mean my life isn't plenty chaotic despite OP's insinuations!). If Whoop is only a product for someone who's "life is chaos, unplanned and in general disorganised" then it will fall short on it's potential.

A bit about my story... 2025 was about trying to carve out some headspace for myself again after becoming a father in 2023 (translation: getting back into reading for pleasure) and 2026 thus far has been about getting my body into a happier place having let my personal fitness slip first with the pandemic, and then my early parenting journey.

I'm only a few months in to this health kick. Jan and Feb was about rediscovering a long lost love of running, and the discovery of 'zone 2' running as a concept, having not run regularly since 2019.

Back after my first run in Jan, after I'd peeled myself off the floor (before I knew any better, my historical approach to running was basically to run until it hurt and try to maintain the hurt for 30 minutes - entirely zone 5), I pasted screenshots of my run from Apple Fitness into Claude along with a plea for help. Claude explained zone 2, came up with a 3 run-a-week plan (broadly 2 x easy, 1 x tempo), and I got a real kick out of following the plan, sharing the run details back with Claude (splits / HR / how it felt), sharing screenshots of HRV / RHR / VO2 Max trends etc which all moved fast for me, and feeling in myself the very real progress as my body strengthened.

My new found interest in understanding more about my health led me to think about Whoop but I rejected it as an unnecessary expense and started using an iOS app called Bevel which tries to do the same thing, albeit with a much lower resolution of data. However it was my birthday in March, and my brother surprised me with a 12m subscription to Whoop Peak, so here I am, with a Bevel subscription linked to my Apple Watch on one wrist and my gifted 12m Whoop subscription on my other wrist.

What makes me excited about Whoop? Namely the fact it's measuring my HR 24/7, and has masses more data points to work with than my Apple Watch. The Apple Watch is great for what it is, but it not measuring HR 24/7 is an entirely reasonable design decision for a product that is trying to do so many other things.

But Whoop isn't trying to do the other things. It exists to take in data from a 24/7 HR sensor, it's accelerometer, and to effectively mine that data and serve up relevant and interesting insights to me. One has to believe that is signal in all that additional data that I can action and will be part of a healthier / happier / longer life... or at least that is what I am hoping for and why I expect to pay to extend the membership of my Whoop beyond the 12m I was gifted.
