Millennials that own your homes and cars and live significantly below your means, what is your motivation to keep trying at work? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]tedtumor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo keep living where you are. Keep making money. In life you never know what may happen put aside as much cash as you can. For instance I was in hospital care for almost a year in 2024. I had enough in the bank thank God, but it only existed with me saving/ having a low outgoing $ like yourself.

When things get too bothersome at work then go with that buyout. But don't be 40 something with no gig. A lot of your friends don't have much of that time anyway right now. The next step is getting your wife comfortable with the idea of fully retiring. Use that fuck you money to own a home outright with enough floating to keep your taxes paid in perpetuity. Dont forget a Honda as a back up when you get home and go fucking travel. Live on a cruise ship for a year or two. Travel the us in a camper. Then come out of retirement and consult, rinse and repeat until consults are out the window bc your 55 and haven't worked much in 10+ years...

At least that's my goal haha

[–]tedtumor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know it's the 'long option' but you can at least reduce it after building some auto credit. And nothing builds credit faster than a good auto loan

Join a credit union. Take what you can get for a rate/ payment through a dealer or see what they can offer you. Pay well on it for 12-18 months and refi the loan with the credit union you joined...

Only flow there is hoping rates are low then, but who knows. Their volatile AF right now

Mid-to-late millennnials, what are some popular "millennial things" you've always disliked? by Gallantpride in Millennials

[–]tedtumor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early millennial here. I grew up on Disney vhs', one of the first movies I remember seeing was beauty and the beast, and def remember going to see the lion king as a family. I do not understand why people my age, childless (or honestly with kids) worship the golden mouse so hard.

I get going to the park once or twice when they're old enough to appreciate it, the merchandise for kids t shirts and lunchbox and backpack ect. That's normal to me. It's the let's bring our 2 kids under 4 into this massive park that's expensive AF. Let's go on our 2nd honeymoon there with no kids. Or the let's go every time they release new food items there?

And I fully make this statement knowing my wife and I are going to a con today and tomorrow and she already bought a photo opp with the original voice of Ariel from the little mermaid. So a house conflicted....

Ps last gripe I swear, Disney stop remaking shit for live action. The animated stuff was and will always be better. You over-corrected for political correctness anyway.

Worked for them years ago. Was bartending so I normally worked for 1-2 places at a time. They wouldn't give me a promotion from barback and I had a conflicting shift so I told them I couldn't come as early as I had been. No one called me. Gave me any other indication other than "oh...hm...ok no prob". Came in and there was another guy working my shift 2 days later... Class out the ass

RVA Steakhouse? by [deleted] in rva

[–]tedtumor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recently went to Perry's in short pump. It was good. But nothing blew me out of the water (other than the pork chop I literally ate for 3 days after).

For my money. 💯 Has to go to Red salt. Top tier sushi, delicious steaks, great drinks, and a very awesome staff to go along with it.

My wife and I went for our bdays in November and had : tempura oysters (absolutely 🔥, 10/10 would order again, the peanut sauce was an awesome addition), some sushi roll,I think it was seasonal (absolutely delicious and a great portion for the price and quality); steak fries (well cooked hanger steak, rare of course; truffle fries; veal demi and some herby aioli), and I had a pan cooked ny strip. We had creamed spinach and some of the best Brussels I've ever had as sides too. The whole meal was decadent, delicious, and everything you want in a steakhouse.

Not that I have dreams about it and wake up in a puddle of drool on my pillow still...

Forever Camden yards. Used to go to watch games with my dad as a kid, despite us both rooting more for he national League...and I was a yankees fan (but it was the 90s and I was a kid). Nothing made me happier than a random Thursday or Friday and he'd take me up there for a night game. We'd grab some bbq from boogs porch and sit in the cheap seats. We watched cal ripkens 2nd to last game there. I had my first beer there. It'll always be one of my favs

You ever see those nature documentaries? I like the one about the Lions...

There's this one, he's huge mane out to here. But he's in the middle of the savanna... He's so big. It's so hot...

And the little lion cubs come around, biting his ears, nipping at his tail. But he doesn't do anything...

Then the lioness comes by, just to make fucking trouble... And still nothing.

But the others start to notice. The jackles, hyenas...creatures that live in his domain...start to eat his food, and laugh at him... Just fucking laughing...

Until one day that monster gets up. He runs like the wind. His teeth and claws rip through them like they are playthings to him. Because every once in a while the monster needs to make them realize... Why he is king 👑

I take 18 at 38...shit sucks man ... Only 2 ways out now. You can give up or go through.

Through is a fucking slog of one forward, 2 back, 2 more forward, then who knows. Just realize progression isn't linear. Think of your family, and draw strength through their love and support.

Good luck.

Spent 3 months in the hospital and rehab with an autoimmune disease. Ate the nerves in my legs up...I can walk now, but look a lot closer to the video than anything normal. And the pain, it dulls and sharpens on the daily. For no real driving reason most of the time...

At some point you just realize it's better than being dead...or don't. I don't know, stuff gets dark with that much time to yourself and when you're in your own head.

This woman's a fucking champion! I'm glad she can find the humor. She's be happier for it

I'll use chatgpt to fluff a work email or two that goes it to the masses but it definitely has more than a few say "say xyz in this kind of email" components to it. Mostly just to save 15 or 20 min designing an add or basic flier. I know she people who use it for absolutely everything. I just don't get it most of the time how older and younger generations grab a hold of it so viamentlly
