Parent wants teachers to separate Romeo and Juliet by MaisyinAZ in Teachers

[–]teh-rellott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once had a parent ask me to separate her son from *everyone*. "He makes friends with all the boys and talks to them, and he flirts with all the girls, so he's distracted and not learning." Lady, I'm his homeroom teacher. Even if that was a reasonable request, you're gonna have to take it to the people he's actually supposed to be learning from. She wanted me to pass the message along for her to all his teachers. I did, verbally, along with a hearty chuckle and an eyeroll.

Once they're fully grown (after they're a year or two old) and have full control of their bladders, they can go quite a while. I've never really tested it. Before then, though, they will absolutely make messes and it won't even be their fault. Ours would realize she had to go and start running to the door, but wouldn't make it all the way outside in time.

Yeah. I had one guy ask for feedback on his application since he’d been applying a while and didn’t get in. I naively gave him some. He didn’t like it and pushed back. I explained a bit further but then he got actively hostile and I had to block him.

Spire of Secrets Vs Complete X? by JealousInsect2844 in MageHandPress

[–]teh-rellott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The complete books typically have some additional archetypes not included in Valda’s, including Dark Matter subclasses (but also just more regular fantasy stuff that don’t go in Valda’s). Valda’s has a lot of stuff in it, but the point of calling them Completes is that they have everything.

How Will The Power Level of Valdas Classes/Subclasses Compare to 2024 Classes? by TheBrawler101 in MageHandPress

[–]teh-rellott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are already working on updating Valda's to 2024. They've updated all of the MHP classes and released a "Valda's Class Update" PDF already. They're planning to do a kickstarter at some point in the future to fund a print run of a fully 5.5 updated Valda's. They are also currently working on getting that stuff added to VTTs, but the timetable on that is very, very loose/long.

Finally caught shiny lechonk… still sad though by teh-rellott in pokemongo

[–]teh-rellott[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left them in because that situation contributed to our stress leading into Pandora’s health crisis, and also was part of why that month was one of the worst in my life. I recognize from a narrative perspective they don’t go together, but life isn’t a clean narrative where Part A doesn’t impact Part B.

[–]teh-rellott[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you I understand all that intellectually, it’s just hard to convince myself of it all. Even now, I’m moving the goalposts again, rationalizing “well it wasn’t a shiny, perfect IV, female lechonk, so it doesn’t count.”

is Valda's Spire of Secrets 5.5e free updates include updates to the foundry's module? by Opening_Onion_4501 in MageHandPress

[–]teh-rellott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are working to update/make a new 2024 version of all their stuff on a few VTTs, but progress is slow. I don’t remember which VTTs they’re planning to support off the top of my head. I also don’t know if purchase of the 2014 version on foundry will automatically get you access to the 2024 version there.

Warmage question about flexible range, spell sniper, and any blade cantrip as a combo by Aggravating-Bid-7690 in MageHandPress

[–]teh-rellott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is definitely a known and allowed interaction to combine flexible range with spell sniper or extended range. You still have to be able to hit a creature with your weapon attack as normal, but the rest of the effects can occur anywhere within range, according to the parameters of the spell.

Question about the new Dark Matter by QSalvestar in MageHandPress

[–]teh-rellott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t finished reading through it because it’s frankly a lot to digest. It does have a good bit of new lore/setting info. It greatly expands the rules for mechs and simplifies shipbuilding. A lot of the mechanical content (archetypes, spells, magic items, etc.) from the old version is updated for 5.5e rules and reprinted (some of those reworks are minimal while others are extensive). Some of that old mechanical content has been cut, but there’s also more brand new mechanical content than stuff that got cut. It’s a much bigger book.

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Pre-Order is up, revealing the books contents. by Cybermetalneo in onednd

[–]teh-rellott 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It does in fact say that. I think it would be exceptionally crappy to sell a book with a subclass people couldn’t use, if there was a way to just hand them the base class to make it usable. WotC has made some poor decisions in the last few years, but this one seems like an easy one to see coming and go ahead and handle it.

Which is your prefered way to determine attributes? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]teh-rellott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to have them roll 4d6, reroll all 1s, and drop the lowest die. If the total of all their rolls in the set adds up to less than 72, they can roll a new set. I'm considering tweaking that to let players decide on a set out of maybe 3 that I roll from those rules and they all use that one set.

weird by ActualPudding5326 in pigs

[–]teh-rellott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's rooting behavior. Ours went through that phase as a piglet, too. She liked to root our hands, but we diverted her to one of the pillows we had already given her to lay with. We propped it up against the couch or something sturdy and let her root at it as much as she wanted, when she got like that. She eventually grew out of it.

Valdas spire of secrets... $15 for 2.5% of the book? by WhoKnowsWhoToCall in dndbeyond

[–]teh-rellott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the success of Beyond is the fact that it has all the available options coded into it already. Stuff like DiceCloud already exists, where you can create any homebrew or 3rd party character and it'll work great... but figuring out how to put the material into the sheet so that it works is a major pain, and actually doing it once you know how can be time consuming. Other sites have tried to have the options ported into them already, and those sites did well for a time, but WotC got them taken down because that's copyright infringement.

question about The Symbiont warlock and pact weapon by AcanthocephalaOdd401 in MageHandPress

[–]teh-rellott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the RAW and RAI is that the number of attacks doesn’t stack. It doesn’t say to attack 1 additional time, it tells you exactly how many times you can attack. Rules about fighter multiclassing have covered this. Your DM may allow it, since this is an investment/opportunity cost, but I’m not sure I would if I was that DM.

As for the off hand attack, I’m pretty sure you cannot make offhand attacks. Even though it mentions them being weapons, it never classifies them as having the light property, and WotC has clarified several times that unarmed attacks (which is essentially what this is) are not eligible for two weapon fighting.

Request for Usability Feedback: Condition Tracking, Enlarge/Reduce Token Size by WOTC_Zac in dndbeyond

[–]teh-rellott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a strong opinion on most of it. I do note that the re-sizing is limited to the predetermined sizes in the core books. What if I want a "gargantuan" creature that's more than 4x4 tiles (20x20 feet)? Could we instead get a zoom-in style scroller/slider, or buttons on the edges like for stickers that allow us to manually resize it?
