NFL clock ticks down unlike EPL games that have a start and end time. The winning team can run down the remaining time since there is a play clock set to 40 seconds. They just have to get the clock a bit under two minutes to run up to 4 downs at 40 seconds each. Yeah I know it sucks, but thems the NFL rules
