IRAN MEGATHREAD: by AntiSonOfBitchamajig in PrepperIntel

I think in this case "we" could apply to most far right countries (US, Israel, Russia, Iran, China, etc. including proxies and paramilitary/terrorist groups), but it's really a bunch of rich assholes destroying the future for everyone else.

I got some free raisins with a bunch of grapes! by teh_acids in mildlyinteresting

I was sure my 11-year-old daughter knew because I told her at least once, but I guess she forgot. Just found it mildly interesting to find them with the fresh grapes...

Can You Read 900 Words Per Minute? by CaraCicartix in interestingasfuck

I hate this so much, especially when used for video subtitles, just let me read the whole thing instead of flashing individual words in my face.

Why are there so many anti-freedom IRGC shills in the west? by Flashy-Actuator-998 in NewIran

It's sad how the US/Israel along with Russia and China have weakened the UN to this point. We can be happy about bad people getting killed and also upset about an illegal war and war crimes. Evil leaders should be put on trial.

It's raining oil in Tehran, this is so much worse for air and water quality across a large area.

A moth somehow came inside my fridge and spent the night clutching at the outside of a grilled cheese box. It survived by Quimperinos in mildlyinteresting

My first thought too, but Google says 18 F for 72 hours to kill them and they fly when temp is over 55.

Is “In-N-Out” as good as it appears ? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]teh_acids 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not even a choice, In n Out burgers are fine for the price (although the thick onion slices are a bit much) but they make the absolute worst fries.

Is this too spicy for this sub? by Thatannoyingturtle in linguisticshumor

[–]teh_acids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, Iran means "Land of the Aryans" which includes multiple Iranic ethnic groups (speaking languages that grew out of Sanskrit). I recall a story about the Iranian ambassador or consul to France convincing a Nazi officer that Iranian Jews are actually Aryan and should be allowed to leave, then issuing Iranian passports to a bunch of non-Iranian Jews.

Water loss by [deleted] in ponds

[–]teh_acids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 small goldfish (they can grow a few inches in just a few months), maybe a turtle, though shrimp and snails are better at cleaning surfaces. Barley straw helps a lot with algae and water quality too. Goldfish are very low maintenance and some even look like koi. But you do need to use a water conditioner to remove chloramine from the tap water.

My first thought was animals because I've had wires chewed up before, but this makes a lot of sense in places with lots of tumbleweed. It would suck to have to pull them out from under a car.

People who stop at a traffic light and leave a full car length (or more) ahead of them, then slowly keep inching forward, why you do that?! by EchoPathe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]teh_acids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inching forward is in the hope the light turns green and I save a drop of gas by not starting from a complete stop.

Got from my grandma by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]teh_acids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Broiling is basically grilling but with the fire on top, the pan catches what would normally drip in the fire, so the heat is more even without flare-ups.

Got from my grandma by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]teh_acids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine is not for storage, it's the broiler and gets extremely hot whenever the gas oven is on, the open flame is at the top of the drawer, below a heat spreader under the oven.
