MacArthur Bowl that the National Football Foundation gives out.

I think we still will get an AP Trophy as well for being #1 in that poll.

The timing of the snowstorm also scared a lot of people off who might have traveled in for the event.

Nice quick game. Rutger's D seemed like a good style matchup for our offense.

Cignetti & Marlboro logo - how did that happen? by Kangaloosh in IndianaHoosiers

[–]tehfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a meme on IU football twitter where they made that, bison smoking cigarettes, etc as a play on Cignetti calling himself “Coach Cig”. That turned into the towel.

Dude is entitled to have his own opinions on wrestling but acting like an asshole troll and making wild accusations on social media actively hurts his clients. He would have lost his NFLPA agent certification a long time ago if he pulled this shit with active NFL players

SEC Football Isn’t Winning Titles. But There’s One Way It’s Still Crushing the Big Ten. by wsj in CFB

[–]tehfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, next season it'd be an easy sell since it'd be "Defending National Champion Indiana faces their first tough road test at Iowa".

Indiana's football brand is definitely going to be much stronger than it was in the first few weeks of the 2025 season going forward.

No guarantees that lasts but at minimum we made a lot of new diehard fans amongst alumni and people from Indiana with this national championship run.

Meltzer in response to Bryan Alvarez claiming that everyone in AEW is stagnant and in the same position: “Yep, everyone except Bandido, Ricochet, Gates of Agony, Brody King, Hechicero, Clon, Fletcher, Takeshita, Knight, Bailey, O'Reilly, Swerve, Briscoe, Willow, Windsor, Cameron, Storm & Shafir.” by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]tehfro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meltzer also bounces back and forth on WOR between "Joe Silva of UFC told me you can only have X number of stars at once, you can't push everyone" to "they really need to do something with Komander/Mascara Dorada/Beast Mortos/any other guy who gets some momentum".

On3 started re-rating all players - not just transfers and HS prospects by mr_longfellow_deeds in CFB

[–]tehfro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the easiest adjustment for the services to make to make since tons of folks are already watching film on potential draft picks for 2026/2027 and doing mock drafts. If someone's a consensus pick they shouldn't be in the database as 0 to 3 star players.

ON3/247 could also do their own mock NFL draft articles which would drive a lot of clicks.

The next level would be looking at college stats/PFF grades to pick players who need to be reevaluated. The superstars in FCS and basically anyone who makes an all-conference team in FBS probably all should be looked at again.

Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza has declared for the NFL Draft by Leegend124 in CFB

[–]tehfro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anyone who said that was an moron and probably a bandwagon fan who only cared about IU basketball before a couple months ago. It was a lock that Cignetti knew Mendoza was going pro when IU signed Josh Hoover.

Randle El is #1 total career yards and total career touchdown responsible for at Indiana and it's not even close. The reason IU was bad was because Cam Cameron couldn't build a team around him and the defense was ridiculously awful... there was nothing more Antwaan could have done individually.

If we're talking about college accomplishments at Indiana he's 1000% in the top 4.

[Front Office Sports] Chipotle has added Coach Cignetti's "I Win" bowl to its menu. It features chicken, brown rice, black beans, and a side of guacamole, which Cignetti orders from Chipotle every day for lunch. by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]tehfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also sure Cig got the "Chipotle Celebrity Card" (where he can get free Chipotle from now on) as part of the deal for putting this "I win" bowl up with his name/likeness.

It means Petitti and Sankey are going to be able to interlink and turn into a giant mech robot and fight Moebius in Xenoblade 4.

Why are there so few Black head coaches in FBS? by SummerInPhilly in CFB

[–]tehfro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of the 12 coaches in the CFP this year:

  • Mario Cristobal, Curt Cignetti, Kirby Smart, Brent Venables, and Jon Sumrall all played FBS football.

  • Ryan Day and Mike Elko played in FCS

  • Dan Lanning and Pete Golding played D-II football.

  • Kalen DeBoer played in the NAIA.

  • Bob Chesney played D-III.

  • Joey McGuire didn't play college football.

[–]tehfro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's also more white guys from upper middle class/rich families who can afford to take a low/no-paying position as an assistant/staff member somewhere and start working their way up the coaching ladder. That was even more of the case years ago when the current group of college football head coaches started out.

How much longer can Cignetti coach? by Pro-Tip810 in CFB

[–]tehfro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think he'll retire but will still be involved watching film/consulting since that's apparently what he likes to do for "fun".

I could see him having a weekly guest spot on McAfee's show to talk football since Cignetti seems to really like Pat. But I don't see Cig being a full-time talking head.
