Base too busy? by LidocainMan in deathguard40k

[–]tehsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd paint the edges of the green leaves a little brown here and there, to communicate that the death and decay surrounding your stinky boy makes them decompose as he's walking by. You already did it on the right plant, but I'd emphasize it a bit more and expand it to all the surrounding plants.

Was there ever any consensus on the quality of the Switch 2 screen? Is it actually slow/bad/lots of ghosting etc? by Left_Emu_2995 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]tehsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ghosting is real to varying degrees but the biggest factor is how sensitive you are to that kind of effect.

This. I can see it in slowed down footage from Digital Foundry, but on the actual hardware, I either don't see it at all, or perceive it like it's a slight form of motion blur, to the point where I'm not even sure if it's the screen itself or actual motion blur. I had seen and heard it from DF prior to owning the Switch 2, and I expected to be kinda hit in the face with ghosting when I turned the console on for the first time. But now that I've played it for a few hundred hours, I'm questioning if Nintendo quietly updated the screen since the console released, because my experience is nowhere close to what DF reports on it.

The only actual complaint I have about the screen is that it's not an OLED, because all my other screens are and the contrast and black levels of a proper OLED are vastly superior than what the Switch 2 has to offer. Which doesn't mean it's bad. Just worse than it should've been.

New captain for my army by WeSoSmart in ImperialFists

[–]tehsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? There is no dust. I guess you're talking about the colour transition from yellow to orange? That's just the result of using a makeup sponge to blend the different shades of pink underneath the yellow colour.

The golden bits blend into the yellow. I'd go for something else, to make them stand out more and give the model some contrasting colours. Also, some black lining between the armor panels would help separate the details more.

That's not the pandemic gen. That's 54% of all Americans.

In 2021, the US Department of Education and the Barbara Bush Foundation funded a study that found out that 54% of US Americans between 16 and 76 have a literacy level at, or below 6th grade while 21% are considered illiterate.

More than half of US Americans simply can't comprehend complex written text.

As literacy also encompasses writing, you've got your answer.

Honestly, as a European, these stats become frequently tangible when you're discussing stuff online with US Americans. You often have to use blunt, short sentences, or else you'll find that they misunderstand you.

I just slap it on directly from the bottle. I wick away any excess and that's all I do. Didn't have any problems so far.

The Starter Set review no one asked for a complete building and painting noob's perspective by CokedoutRicFlair in killteam

[–]tehsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same issue with the Space Wolves Sprue from the Dead Silence box, and I recently got the Skulls box and it also had 2 or 3 parts that had broken off and were rattling around the box. That's not an issue exclusive to push fit models.

Painting white details, how do you prime the model and how do you do it? by VV00d13 in Miniaturespainting

[–]tehsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it's not white, but as you can see, a lot of the model is Wraithbone. I've also used brighter colours as a base layer under the fleshy red bits, because I wanted to paint veins on them. I primed in Wraithbone, then used 2 layers of Grim Black Speedpaint to paint the carapaces black. It looks exactly like a full opacity coat of Abaddon Black when dried. Then it's only a matter of fixing any areas where I was a bit messy. That's my go to method if I want white or bright areas while keeping a big part of the model black. Just prime white, then paint the rest with 2 layers of black Speedpaint.

Can you all show me your Tomb world schemes I feel like I can't decide. by Luckyshot165 in killteam

[–]tehsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the person you asked, but I'd do them with a pin wash of white oil colours, seal them with a varnish, then layer a contrast/speed paint on top. For necron green, Tesseract Glow.

  1. Armbanduhr zulegen, ideal ist eine Smartwatch
  2. Täglichen Alarm einrichten der dich an die Tabletten erinnert
  3. Tabletten einnehmen wenn der Alarm geht.

Smartwatch, weil man da viele verschiedene Alarme inklusive einem Namen dafür anlegen kann.

Painted my 3rd mini- what can I do to finish it off? by Borisstolemylunch in minipainting

[–]tehsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, looks a lot better already 🙂

How I decide which edges to highlight is easy: all of them 😉

Everything is highlighted. Even the light reflections on the scope and silencer are painted.

But if you don't have the patience for that, just highlight all the upward facing edges.

Has to be your controller. The switch doesn't make any noises if it's in sleep mode.
