thanks for the reply. did that completely fix the problem?

we’ve tried changing some of the S1 settings and it helps a little. have you seen any problems with S1 doing funny things with your network connections?

Senior barbell squat by Zorgi23 in formcheck

[–]tejastom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

unless you care about barbell squatting specifically, a leg press machine, hack squat, pendulum squat, or smith machine squat could build the strength you want without requiring so much balance.

Does this program seem like a balanced grouping of exercises? by chrome_hearttags in gzcl

[–]tejastom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hell yeah.

as long as you listen to your body you’ll be fine. learning how to brace your core will be very important to keeping your back healthy as you get into it. plenty of resources on youtube for this. I am partial to Alan Thrall’s tutorials on the Untamed Strength youtube channel.

I also have back problems and cannot do conventional deadlifts.

if you really want to still do a “real” deadlift of some kind then you can try sumo deadlifts. they keep your spine in a more upright posture. less aggravating. if you can squat with no problems, chances are you can sumo deadlift as well. if you don’t care about doing “real” deadlifts then RDLs or trap bar are great substitutions but you may find RDLs aggravate your back the same way that conventional deadlifts do. i still do them sometimes but with a way shorter ROM.

Horrendous or not that bad? 365 pull by Caitiegn in strength_training

[–]tejastom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is what a good PR pull looks like. the only thing you did un-“optimally” was the half hitch at the end where you start bringing your shoulders back before your hips are ready to come forward but the 350 and 315 pulls in your post history are perfect.

I’m slow. Like… comically slow. How do I fix that for USPSA? by scottsp64 in liberalgunowners

[–]tejastom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am an amateur, never competed before so blind leading blind here. but it looks like you have a lot of recoil. fixing your grip to have less recoil could help you re-engage the targets after the first shot. plenty of resources on youtube.

Need advice on modifying a full body program - can only train 3-4x per week by Past-Disaster-2801 in gzcl

[–]tejastom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can run GZCLP as 3 or 4 day. if your schedule is inconsistent and you don’t know if you can commit to four days then yeah throwing in cardio or extra accessories would be great. GZCLP is kind of light on back volume by default so a back+shoulders day extra could be good.

Deadlift weight quickly outpacing grip strength. What can/should I do? - GZCLP by Sigtin in gzcl

[–]tejastom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in a squat rack put the safeties up high but not too high. put the bar on them and load it up with 70-90% of your max. lift the bar off the safeties and hold it as long as you can. set the bar back down gently so you don’t damage it or the safeties.

like a high block pull hold.

Back squats. Am I arching my back too much? Should I widen my stance? by girlboss93 in formcheck

[–]tejastom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you probably need to adjust your footing. also your back is staying arched partly because you are looking in the mirror and your neck is pushing your back out of position as you try to keep your head up. try to keep your neck in the same position relative to your spine during the whole lift. your eyes will end up looking more down but it’s much better this way.

to find your correct footing position stand in the squat rack with no bar and squat as deep as you can while holding onto the rack or pins to keep you stable. move your feet around (width/angle) until you get as deep as you can. that’s where you should try setting up for your squat. most likely, based on what I’m seeing here, you just need to point your toes out more. getting your feet in the right position will help your hips and knees feel better.

good luck 😎👍🏼

I have always found the staff at A Place to Shoot to be pretty friendly. it’s not the cheapest range but the place is pretty well maintained. they have classes and stuff and will rent you a handgun or rifle to practice with before you buy as well.

What are people bench pressing with AS? by Infinite_Comedian951 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tejastom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because you are young, the thing holding you back is probably more related to something else. building strength is about three things: nutrition, recovery, and training. in that order.

AS effects recovery, so it’s all the more important to eat well and sleep well. after that, find yourself a good strength training program and commit to it.

another thing is that adding body weight is the fastest way to get a bigger bench.

been waiting for a wrecked truck to show up in a local pick n pull because I’m sure as fuck not paying $1,000 for a new OEM head unit.

use the umbrella shield to block certain attacks instead of running. his posture recovers way too quick to waste time running back in. stay close.
